License Activation: Step by Step

In the main Frequently Asked Questions page we describe generally how our users can activate a program license, so it is fully activated and not a demo. However because these instructions cannot be specific, it may be difficult to read through and apply to your particular situation. Below are some examples of step by step instructions to activate a program license.

To make them specific, some assumptions are made below. The program name is assumed to be Rhvac, and the program should already be installed on your computer. If a CD is used, the drive letter for the CD is assumed to be drive D: (you need to determine this for your computer). The folder location that is used, where the license file is copied from another media, is the Desktop. Note that if another folder is used and you wish to go to that location to open a zip file or some other action, you may need to open Windows Explorer or My Computer to view files at that folder location. In any case, substitute your program name and folder locations below for your particular situation.

Activating a Program License

Activate license from an Elite Software CD
1. Put in the Elite Software CD (purchased after July 2005).
2. Close the window that opens automatically, titled "Elite Software Program Installer".
3. Open the Rhvac program.
4. Go to Help|About Rhvac and click the Copy License File button.
5. In the Browse window that appears, click My Computer if the drive letters are not already shown. Then click drive D: (the drive letter for your CD drive).
6. A list of subfolders will be shown under drive D: (or other drive). Reading down the list alphabetically, find the folder called License and click to highlight it.
7. Click Ok. A confirmation message appears if the license has been read and activated.

Activate license from an e-mailed file
1. Open the e-mail you received from Elite Software.
2. Extract or save the license file from your e-mail. Do not open it! The file in this case is called Rhvac9.wef. (Usually you can click a paperclip icon or the attachment name (Rhvac9.wef) in the e-mail window to save an attachment. If this doesn't seem to work, see your e-mail documentation for more help.)
3. When prompted for the save location, select the Desktop.
4. Open the Rhvac program.
5. Go to Help|About Rhvac and click the Copy License File button.

7. Click Ok. A confirmation message appears if the license has been read and activated.

Activate license from an e-mailed zip file
Sometimes we send a zip file containing your license file to avoid corrption or decryption problems in the e-mail. Here are instructions to use this zip file.

1. Open the e-mail you received from Elite Software.
2. Extract or save the license zip file from your e-mail. The file in this case is called Rhvac9.zip. (Usually you can click a paperclip icon or the attachment name (Rhvac9.zip) in the e-mail window to save an attachment. If this doesn't seem to work, see your e-mail documentation for more help.)
3. When prompted for the save location, select the Desktop.
4. Find the file Rhvac9.zip on the Desktop and double click it to open it.
5. A Zip window should appear, and you can see the license file Rhvac9.wef inside it.
6. Click and drag this file Rhvac9.wef out from the Zip window to the Desktop. (See your Zip program Help file for more information if you need other options to extract a file from a Zip window.)

8. Go to Help|About Rhvac and click the Copy License File button.
