Rhvac Version 9 Recent Update History

Version Changes

12/13/2022 9.01.481

  1. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board that was fixed and then reintroduced in recent versions, where if you were showing the glass dimension text for a window on the drawing, when you closed and reopened the drawing, the text was set back to its default position.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you had placed a runout duct in a room with its Room Occurrences set to a value greater than 1, the runout duct's airflow would not correctly reflect the multiple occurrences.

  3. Fixed a bug in the RPER report, where the "Longest supply duct" item (meaning the total effective length of the supply side) could sometimes be negative. This problem would happen if you had set the "Add Return Loss to Supply" property of the Return Main Trunk to False (it defaults to True), and you also had a situation where the supply runout with the highest cumulative loss was not the same duct as the supply runout with the highest total effective length.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Energy Star Form report, where the date text for item 1.1 could be too wide to fit within the right hand side margin.

  5. Fixed a bug on the Energy Star Form report, where the projects's outdoor design temperatures in item 3.3 were positioned too far to the right.

9/13/2022 9.01.476

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had one or more systems for which you have entered Yes for the System is Isolated input, then the warning about using the wrong column selection on the infiltration window because your selection does not match the volume of the building could be shown when it was not needed. Now the program properly excludes isolated systems from the total building area when determining whether or not to show the warning.

  2. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board that developed in the previous update, where window and door objects could still have gray outlines and could be partially inoperable upon changing from a sheet that was set to be grayed out when not the active sheet.

  3. Fixed a problem that developed a while ago due to changing to a different software component, which could cause a native object dropped onto the drawing from one of the catalogs to not properly become gray when that object was not on the current sheet.

8/29/2022 9.01.475

  1. In Manual D Ductsize and the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, removed the warning that said that the design friction rate is too low when it went below 0.06. Now it only warns if the friction rate is too high, which means that it is over 0.18.

  2. Replaced all occurrences of a certain third party listbox control with another control, since on some computers the MhList32.ocx file was not able to be registered for use, and would cause the program to lock up. Also replaced all occurrences of the same control on the U-Factor Calculator program.

  3. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board where if you had a window with the Show Glass Dimensions property set to True, when you closed and reopened the the drawing, the position of the text would revert back to the default location.

  4. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board where right clicking on a Ductwork Box object and then clicking "Help on Ductwork Box" from the popup menu did not open the help.

7/26/2022 9.01.474

  1. Fixed a bug in the Reference City input on the General Project Data window, where if you clicked the dropdown help button it would not always scroll the list to the city name that was in the textbox.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Project Schedules toolbar on the Duct Sizing tab of the General Project Data window, where if the current project had only one schedule and you opened a different project that had more than one schedule, the Previous Schedule and Next Schedule buttons would not be enabled at first.

  3. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize Defaults window, added a Mark button with a dropdown menu to let you select only trunks, only runouts, etc., from the list of ducts.

7/14/2022 9.01.473

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where in Drawing Board if you change the Glass Type property, the new window appearance could include remnants of the previous type. This version prevents that problem from happening, and also corrects it for any existing windows.

7/6/2022 9.01.472

  1. On the Global Material Change dialog, made it so if you have not used any roofs in your project, when you select Roof as the Material Type, the first of the two Material inputs is set to be blank. Formerly, it would simply leave the text to be whatever it was before you selected Roof. The same applies to all other material types.

  2. When in Room Data window mode, on the Global Material Change dialog, made it so if you leave the first of the two Material inputs blank and enter something in the second input, instead of assigning the new material to all 40 rows of that material type in a room, it now only assigns one instance of the new material to each selected room. Also made it so if you have already entered one or more floors, the first of the two Material inputs has a "(none)" item in the dropdown help list for the input that will let you replace blank floor materials with your new material (the same thing applies to roofs, walls, glass and doors).

  3. Fixed a bug where if your design friction rate for a system of ducts you created with Manual D Ductsize or Tabular Manual D Ductsize was very slightly below 0.06, the warning about the friction rate being too low would say that the friction rate was 0.06, due to rounding. Now the warning says that the friction rate is 0.059 under those circumstances.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Drawing Board window where if you had the Show Glass Dimensions property for a Window object set to True, and then used the "Copy Glass" function followed by the "Paste Glass" function, it would cause two duplicates of the dimension text to get created next to the pasted glass.

  5. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board where it was possible for the wall directions assigned to a room to be wrong under certain circumstances.

  6. In Proposal Maker, removed the rarely used Formula Builder dialog and associated inputs, since the component that the program used to evaluate formulas does not work on Windows 8 and later operating systems.

  7. Fixed a bug in Proposal Maker where if you created a custom field in the Field Catalog that had a picture as its value, when you tried to drag and drop such a field onto the document it would not add the picture to the document.

5/26/2022 9.01.466

  1. Added inputs to let you export to EnergyPro version 8 to the EnergyPro Export dialog.

5/11/2022 9.01.464

  1. Took measures to prevent a problem that could happen on some computers where a system folder (under VirtualStore) could get created that would hold copies of certain data files used by the program.

  2. Changed the listbox control used on the dropdown help windows to a different control in order to prevent a file registration problem that could happen.

  3. Fixed a problem that could happen in Drawing Board, where if a Room object became corrupt it was possible for the Delete Multiple Rooms window to not correctly identify which rooms to delete.

  4. Made a correction to the EnergyGauge export in order to prevent a fatal error about "CA_WINTER_MED_OF_EXTREMES" that could happen in EnergyGauge after importing the ENB file.

4/25/2022 9.01.463

  1. Changed the Energy Star reports from revision 08 to revision 11. Also changed the "HVAC Design Report - Pages 3 and 4 Only.pdf" that is included with the installation to be from those pages in revision 11 as well.

  2. Fixed a problem that developed with the Elite Software Update Manager window, where early this month the server started preventing the program from working properly.

4/6/2022 9.01.462

  1. Modified the Export to EnergyGauge feature so that it can export an ENB file that can be opened in EnergGauge version 7.

3/21/2022 9.01.461

  1. Changed the name of the material code that you enter for floors, roofs, etc., from "Construction Number" to "Construction Code" in order to make it clear that the text is not an actual number.

  2. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board on the Auto Create/Refresh Runouts dialog, where if you had previously deleted any rooms that you created for the current drawing, it was possible for some of the rooms you selected on the dialog to not get a runout created for the room.

2/15/2022 9.01.457

  1. Added a new menu item to the top of the E-Mail flyout menu that is in the File menu and the Help menu that explains that the email functions only work if you use a desktop email program and not web based email.

  2. In Drawing Board, fixed a bug where if you had multiple sheets and had some sheets with the Inactive Sheet Option set to visible and grayed, some text colors could turn gray, and some background colors could turn white.

1/31/2022 9.01.456

  1. Made the new toolbar on the Duct Sizing tab of the General Project Data window a little larger so that all eight buttons are visible on more people's screens. Formerly, on some people's screens only six of the buttons were visible.

  2. Changed the name of the "Duct Schedules" window to "Global Duct Schedules" in order to distinguish between the project schedules and the global schedules. Also changed the "Duct Schedules" item in the Tools menu to instead say, "Global Duct Schedules." Also added text saying, "Global Schedules" to the frame of the Duct Schedules window.

  3. Added an "Edit Global Schedules" button to the duct schedule toolbar on the General Project Data window. Clicking this new button opens the Duct Schedules window.

  4. On the Manual D Ductsize Data and Graphic Manual D Ductsize Data reports, made it so if the Sizing Method property of a duct is Schedule, that part of the report shows only the schedule number, and not the name, after the word, "Schedule."

  5. Made it so you can copy and paste a duct schedule from the General Project Data window to the Global Duct Schedules window, and vice-versa.

  6. Fixed a bug on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, where under certain circumstances it was possible for a return runout with the airflow option set to Distribute Evenly to not report any airflow.

  7. In Manual D Ductsize, added an "Apply to Main Trunk" checkbox to the Trunk Defaults area of the Duct Default Scenario. Checking this box and then clicking OK will apply all the trunk defaults to the main trunk.

  8. Fixed a bug in the Project Duct Schedules area of the General Project Data window, where it was possible for the current schedule inputs to not be saved.

1/13/2022 9.01.446

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where it was possible to not be able to save the project or use the "Save Project As" function under some circumstances.

1/11/2022 9.01.445

  1. In Drawing Board, made it so when you move a duct object or select its grab handles the drawing redraws itself much faster than before.

  2. In Drawing Board, for drawings with both ducts and rooms, made it so the calculations are performed much faster now. For existing Drawing Board projects, the very first time you open the Drawing Board window in today's version may still take a while for the drawing to open, if it's a very large drawing with lots of rooms and ducts. However, after that initial opening of the drawing in this version, that same drawing will open and calculate much faster than before from then on.

  3. Added a "Merge Bill of Materials Database" window that you can open by clicking "Merge New Data" from the "Bill of Materials - General" menu. This window lets you merge new data, if available, into your Bill of Materials database. A message box asking you whether you want to open the "Merge Bill of Materials Database" window also opens upon first opening Rhvac after installing today's update.

  4. Added the ability to define multiple duct schedules on the Duct Sizing tab of the General Project Data window. For ducts you create in Manual D Ductsize or the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, you may set the Sizing Method property to Schedule, and then set the Schedule Number property to the appropriate number.

12/21/2021 9.01.437 (Test Version)

  1. On the Project Bill of Materials window, added an "Add a Part to Database" item to the menu that displays upon clicking the Part tool in the Project Bill of Materials window's toolbar.

  2. On the Bill of Materials Parts Database window, added text to the items in the Part Type list to indicate that the Duct, Fitting and Diffuser items allow the part to be part of the automatic takeoff, while the Other item includes only items that cannot be part of the automatic takeoff.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where if you were only doing built-in duct sizing, it was possible for the Zone rows of the Load Preview window to show the zone duct size twice.

  4. On the Project Bill of Materials window, added a "Restore Original Database (Advanced)" item to the "Bill of Materials - General" menu.

  5. Made it so while the Bill of Materials Database window is open, the main window of Rhvac is disabled, along with any windows it contains.

12/13/2021 9.01.434 (Test Version)

  1. On the Project Bill of Materials window, changed the name of the "Add Section" and "Remove Section" menu items to "Add Custom Section" and "Remove Custom Section". This change helps the user understand that only custom sections can be removed, not the sections that are generated by the automatic takeoff.

  2. On the Project Bill of Materials window, made it so you do not have to remove all the parts in a custom section before deleting the section.

  3. On the Bill of Materials Database window, made it so when you move your mouse over the "Add Selected Item(s) to Project Bill of Materials..." button, the editing box of the currently selected row in the parts list is hidden, so that when you click the button it immediatly shows the popup menu. Formerly, in that situation you had to click the button twice to make the popup menu appear.

12/9/2021 9.01.433

  1. Made it so heating and cooling ventilation airflow amounts are included on the Load Preview window when appropriate.

  2. On the Load Preview window, made it so the Duct Size column shows the size of any non-main supply trunks that you entered on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window or the Drawing Board window that feed only one zone. If more than one trunk that feeds only one zone has been entered, the most upstream of those trunks will be the one that has its size shown on the Zone row.

  3. In the reports, updated the Notes section and optional title page note to say Manual J version 2.50 instead of version 2.

10/27/2021 9.01.431

  1. In Manual D Ductsize on Drawing Board, made it so the "Resize Duct Systems" item in the right click popup menu for duct objects shows the Evaluation of Project window if there are any warnings or errors in the project.

  2. Fixed a bug that could happen with certain drawing templates, where it was not possible to drop a Room object onto the drawing.

10/20/2021 9.01.430

  1. Fixed a problem that developed in a recent update, where the "Send to Back" feature could make objects on different but visible sheet temporarily appear in front of the object that you tried to send to the back.

  2. Fixed a bug where plugging a duct into another single line duct could sometimes lock up the program.

  3. Fixed a rarely occurring bug that had been in Manual D Ductsize for a long time, where if you had a trunk in which you had added a bend but the trunk was actually perfectly straight, and then you tried to plug another duct into the side of that trunk downstream of its non-bending bend, both the duct you plugged in and the trunk you plugged into would be drawn improperly.

10/7/2021 9.01.429

  1. Fixed a problem that developed in a recent update, where the Thermostat object in the "HVAC Equipment with Mini Splits" catalog would come in as a large, black circle.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent update, where you could not paste a new object into a catalog.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent update, where the font size of a Smart Figure object could change from its original size just by you changing something else unrelated about that object. For example, the font size of a duct object could change just by you resizing the duct, or repositioning its text.

  4. Fixed a bug in Manual D Ductsize, where if a duct was shown as single line and you removed a bend, the duct would not immediately redraw itself without that bend.

  5. In Drawing Board, made it so when you move a text object that is part of a Smart Figure, such as a duct object, the operation completes much quicker now.

  6. In Drawing Board, made it so the "Send to Back" and similar functions complete much quicker now.

  7. Made it so if you have a duct plugged into another duct that is on a different sheet and that sheet is invisible, the duct will not be unplugged from the duct on the invisible sheet without you deliberately unplugging it.

8/24/2021 9.01.427

  1. On the Sheets tab of the Drawing Properties dialog in Drawing Board, changed the text of the "When this sheet is not active, make it..." options to make it clear that the option you select only affects that sheet when it is not the active sheet. The header is now titled, "Inactive Sheet Option," and the options themselves have been changed to be like this: "When NOT active, this sheet is visible and grayed."

  2. Made it so when you click OK on the Drawing Properties dialog in Drawing Board it refreshes the drawing appearance so that you don't have to pan or zoom to see your changes.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent update, where it was possible for ducts that are not on the current sheet to not be included in the calculations.

8/18/2021 9.01.426

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in version 9.01.424, where if you imported a DXF file into the drawing the scaling of the drawing would be incorrect.

8/17/2021 9.01.425

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where it was possible for one or more runout ducts to be assigned to the wrong room during calculations.

8/11/2021 9.01.424

  1. In Drawing Board, fixed a bug where if you set the Kneewall property to True for a Wall object, and then divided that wall object with Divide Wall Here, the new wall created would not have the three properties related to roofs assigned to it from the existing wall (RoofCategory, CLTDIndex, and RoofOptions).

  2. In Drawing Board, fixed a bug that could happen if you had defined any of your default materials on the Default Room Data window with one or more blank materials before a material that was not blank. For example, if you had defined default wall 1 and default wall 3, but default wall 2 was blank, then the bug could happen. The bug was that for any material where you were setting the material to the default using the right click popup menu, and you selected a material from the flyout menu that shows your defaults, and the material you selected had any blank materials before it on the Default Room Data window, the default material you selected from the flyout menu would not be copied to that material.

  3. Made it so if you have a multizone system in which "Use CV if Multizone" is set to No, and the System Air Type is set to Auto, and there is one zone in the system that has a supply CFM that is greater than that of the calculated system CFM, then the calculations will switch the System Air Type to Fixed, and will set the fixed System CFM to that of the highest zone CFM. And a warning is added to the Evaluation of Project window explaining that.

  4. Made it so if you have a multizone system in which "Use CV if Multizone" is set to No, and the System Air Type is set to Fixed, and there is one zone in the system that has a supply CFM that is greater than that of the fixed System CFM that you entered, then a warning will be added to the Evaluation of Project window suggesting that you increase the system CFM you entered to be as large as the highest zone CFM.

6/18/2021 9.01.421 (Test Version)

  1. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize Grid printed report, made it so if the project filename or project title are very long, the width of the first column will be more narrow, and the text of the first column will wrap for those two rows.

6/2/2021 9.01.420 (Test Version)

  1. In Drawing Board, added a "Find Room" command in the right click popup menu for the Room object, under the "General Room Settings" menu. Clicking this menu item will open a new "Find Room" dialog that shows you all the room names in a list. You can double click on a room name and Drawing Board will select and zoom to the room.

  2. Fixed a bug where it was possible under certain circumstances for a Room object in Drawing Board to lose its functionality, and would no longer be included in the calculations and would no longer show the full menu upon right clicking the Room object's background. Also made it so any such rooms on an existing drawing are corrected upon opening the Drawing Board window.

  3. Changed the default fill style for non-included Wall objects in Drawing Board to be solid instead of transparent.

  4. In Drawing Board, fixed a bug where if the Drawing Board window was open and you opened another project with a drawing, then the sensible and latent equipment loads entered on the Equipment Cooling Loads window could become corrupt.

4/6/2021 9.01.415

  1. In Drawing Board, made it so for an existing window if you select a different default material from the right click popup menu, the glass width property and the overhang properties will be assigned to that of the default window's glass, and the window's width will visibly change if necessary. Did the same for skylights.

  2. In Drawing Board, made it so when you add a new window it will search through any default glass items you have entered to find the first non-skylight glass and set the new window to have all the same properties as that default glass, including width and height. Made the equivalent change for when you add a new skylight.

  3. On the Manual S Performance Data window, added inputs for the cooling outdoor and indoor model numbers. Renamed the existing input to show that it is the "combined" model number of the outdoor and indoor model numbers.

  4. On the Manual S Performance Data window, made it so you can resize the window to be shorter on the screen in order to accommodate smaller resolution screen settings. When you resize the window to be smaller than its default size, scrollbars are added so that you can see each input.

  5. In Drawing Board, changed the available property values for the Direction property of the North Arrow object from "N," "S," etc., to "Up," "Down," etc., in order to make the purpose of the property more clear.

3/5/2021 9.01.413

  1. In Manual D Ductsize, added the ability to set a return runout to return air from one or more rooms. Did the same for Tabular Manual D Ductsize. Added the return room names to the return runouts in the "Data" reports.

  2. Removed the "RPER 1.01 ACCA Design Review Form Data" checkbox from the Import from Rhvac dialog, since that data is imported when you select to import system data.

2/15/2021 9.01.410

  1. Fixed a rare problem on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window where it was possible for a duct to still exist in the project that was no longer connected to anything, which would generate a warning saying that the duct has no connections and will be ignored.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where on the ACCA Design Review Form Data window the Override column for the cooling model number was not editable.

2/2/2021 9.01.409

  1. Fixed a bug on the Equipment Cooling Loads window, where if you selected one of the very long descriptions from the Item Name input's dropdown help, if you then clicked on that item name to edit it the edit text box it would only hold the first 255 characters.

  2. In the Reference City input on the Design Conditions tab of the General Project Data window, made it so if you type a state or country name and press Enter, the first city in the state or country will be selected and its data is filled in. Made the same change to the City input on the Weather Data window.

  3. On the ACCA Design Review Form Data window and associated report, made it so the sensible, latent and total cooling capacity values are gotten from the Manual S results if present, or the adjusted capacity inputs on System Data if present, or the nominal capacity inputs on System Data. Also made it so those three values are listed in the dropdown help for those inputs in the Override column.

10/19/2020 9.01.406

  1. Added an input labeled, "Direct Sensible" to the Other Adjustments area of the Manual S Performance Data window. This new input lets you accommodate Carrier and other manufacturers' post-interpolation note that says to adjust the sensible, but doesn't say to adjust the total. So if you enter a negative number for the sensible adjustment, the latent will go up, and vice-versa. Changed the name of the Direct input to Direct Total.

  2. Made it so when you add a Room object to the drawing the Room Name object will take on the color of the Background object. This feature was inadvertently removed in version 9.01.376, and this version restores it.

10/9/2020 9.01.403 (Test Version)

  1. On the Manual S Performance Data report, made it so the outdoor and indoor model numbers are given separately if both are present.

  2. In the Manual D Ductsize ducts in Drawing Board, made it so you cannot plug a duct into another duct that is already connected anywhere downstream of the current duct, preventing circular connections.

9/2/2020 9.01.402

  1. Modified the Manual S Performance Data window so that if you are in Simple Mode, where all of the Interpolation Conditions checkboxes are unchecked, you no longer have to have non-zero values in the Design column under Interpolation Conditions for results to be shown in the Interpolation Results boxes. Formerly, even in Simple Mode you had to have all of the inputs in the Design column filled in with non-zero values in order for results to show.

  2. Modified the Load Preview window and the printed report, so that if you have created any ducts with either graphic Manual D Ductsize or the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, and the project has any systems in which you have not created any ducts, and you have set the Calculate inputs for trunks and runouts on the Duct Sizing tab of the General Project Data window to "No" (which are only for the built-in duct sizing), the Duct Sizing column will be blank for those rows. Formerly in those circumstances, the text would have red text saying, "Not MDD" followed by a size of zero.

  3. Updated the weather data for St. Augustine, Florida to match the current edition of Manual J.

  4. In Drawing Board, made it so ducts created with Manual D Ductsize have their appearance regenerated to make their display width equal the calculated width more often.

  5. Added an optional "Reduce Large File Size" dialog that can open whenever you save a project that has a file size greater than 10 MB. This new dialog lets you compact the project and compress the drawing data. On both this new dialog and on the Rhvac Options dialog you can set the number of MB required to trigger opening the dialog, and you can turn off the option to show the dialog.

  6. Made it so if you click a folder in the menu, "File | Open Project From Recent Folder" and that folder no longer exists, a message box opens, saying that the folder does not exist. The folder is also removed from the list. Formerly, the Open Project dialog would open anyway, showing the contents of another folder on your system.

  7. On the multi-project Project Explorer's toolbar, made it so if you click a folder in the Browse Recent Folder button's list of folders and that folder doesn't exist, a message box opens, saying that the folder does not exist. The folder is also removed from the list. Formerly, if you clicked a folder that no longer exists the multi-project Project Explorer could turn all gray in color, and have the caption, "Project Closed." Also made it so the multi-project Project Explorer's Recent Folder button's list is more precisely kept updated with the folder list under "File | Open Project from Recent Folder."

  8. Took measures to provide a fix for a rare problem where the dropdown help windows disappear after displaying for a moment. On a dropdown help window that includes a list, click the little down arrow button in the upper right corner of the window, and then click "Keep Dropdown Help Open" from the popup menu. After clicking that, all of your dropdown help windows will remain open more persistently, although they are still easy for you to close them by clicking the dropdown help button, moving the cursor to another input, pressing Escape, etc..

8/5/2020 9.01.401

  1. Fixed a bug on Window objects in Drawing Board, where clicking an item in the dropdown help for the Overhang Offset or Overhang Projection properties was not setting the property values.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Equipment Cooling Loads window when in Drawing Board mode, where the first time you opened the window for a new room the first row would have very large values in the "Average In-Use Output" and "Percent Used per Hour" columns. Now the first row correctly has values of 100 in those columns, like the rest of the rows.

  3. In Drawing Board, improved the "Create Room with Generic Defaults" message box that opens whenever you start to add a Room object to the drawing while you have not filled in some important things on the Default Room Data window. Changed the text to better explain what clicking "Yes" does, and added a Help button that will open the Rhvac 9 Help window to a new topic about that dialog.

7/27/2020 9.01.400

  1. Fixed a bug on the System 1 Ventilation Rate dialog, where the two "Normalized leakage area" gray boxes on the General tab were always blank. This bug only affected the display, and not any of that window's calculations.

  2. Fixed a bug where if your project was set to metric units the Radiant Floor input value on the Room Data window would not get converted properly. Fixed the same bug on the popup Radiant Floor Properties window.

  3. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, added the "Tree Layout" item from the toolbar to the right click menu for the duct tree.

  4. On the Duct Size Preview window and report added a "Reg Size" column to show the register sizes for runouts.

  5. On the Manual D Ductsize Data and Tabular Manual D Ductsize Data reports, changed the Type item on the 2nd row to include the register size whenever the type is "Runout."

6/23/2020 9.01.399

  1. Fixed a bug in the Energy Star Form Data window and corresponding report, where item 3.6 was not accounting for the glass Occurrences input being greater than a value of 1.

  2. Added the above grade U-value of basement walls to the description column on some of reports. These include the Total Building Summary Loads, System Summary Loads and Zone Summary Loads reports, as well as the Detailed Room Loads report.

6/5/2020 9.01.398

  1. Corrected the spelling of one of the Tucson, Arizona entries in the weather database.

  2. Fixed a bug on the printed "Tabular Manual D Ductsize - Grid" report, where if you had multiple systems with enough total ducts to cover more than one page, the report would have several obvious problems, with things like systems being repeated. Also made it so the report only includes those nodes in the tree that have ducts under them.

6/2/2020 9.01.397

  1. Fixed a problem on the "Tabular Manual D Ductsize - Grid" report, where the text for duct names and room names would be truncated slightly so that the final 1 or 2 characters would only be shown partially. The font used for the grid report is now always, "Arial Narrow" in order to correct this problem.

  2. Fixed a bug with the "Tabular Manual D Ductsize - Grid" report, where the text color and font characteristics (bold, italic, etc.) specified for the "Body" parts of reports were not being applied.

5/7/2020 9.01.396

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had a license for Drawing Board for Rhvac Version 2, and you previously had an active license for Drawing Board for Rhvac Version 1 on your system still, or an older license for Drawing Board on your system still, and you had changed your company name, address, etc., since purchasing your previous license, the Evaluation of Project window could falsely report that your Drawing Board and Manual D Ductsize headings do not match.

  2. Made some technical changes regarding Rhvac Online (elitesoftapps.com).

4/23/2020 9.01.395

  1. Fixed a problem on the Equipment Data report, where if you had text in the Tradename input on the System Data window that included a semicolon, the report formatting would be wrong, and a narrow column of text would show up on the left side of the page.

  2. Fixed a bug on item 3.9 in the filled in Energy Star Form report, where if you entered an override for item 2.3 that override value would show up on both items 2.3 and 3.9 on the printed report. Or if you entered an override for item 3.9, the printed report would still show the value from 2.3, whether 2.3's value was overridden or not.

  3. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board that developed in a recent update on the "Roof/Ceiling Slope Calculator" window that opens when you click the button beside the "Roof Slope (Intrinsic)" property for the Room object, where the "Roof/Ceiling Slope" gray box at the bottom of the window would remain blank while you are filling in the dimension inputs.

  4. In Drawing Board on the "Roof/Ceiling Slope Calculator" window, changed the way the combined slope is calculated when you have the "Double Slope" option selected. Formerly, it used a weighted average of the two slopes to determine the overall combined slope. Now it determines the combined slope using a formula that gives the exact, correct result.

4/3/2020 9.01.392

  1. On the Simple Mode window that opens by clicking the "Simple Mode Options" button on the Manual S Performance Data window, fixed a bug where the inputs on that window were read-only. Also fixed a bug where it was possible sometimes for one or more of those 4 inputs to be blank when opening that window for the first time in a project.

  2. Made several changes on the Energy Star Form Data window. Added Save and Load buttons to all the rows that did not already have them. Added an "Insert BLANK" column that has "Blank" buttons that insert the word, "BLANK" into the input. Added an "Insert BLANK for All" button to the toolbar that inserts the word, "BLANK" into every input. Added a "Reset All Inputs" button to the toolbar that clears the inputs in which you can freely type, and resets the inputs that only allow you to select from a list to use the first item in the list. For inputs that did not already have it, added a "BLANK" dropdown help item.

  3. Fixed bugs on the filled in version of the Energy Star report. The value for item 3.9 was coming from the value for item 2.3 instead. Item 4.20 was not being calculated, which also made item 4.22 incorrect. Item 2.3 was using the summer ventilation CFM instead of the larger of the winter or summer ventilation CFM.

  4. Made it so after you close the Manual S Performance Data window, the adjusted total, adjusted sensible and adjusted latent capacity inputs on the Cooling tab of the Equipment tab of the System Data window are set to zero if the values in the Interpolation Results frame are equal to the nominal sensible and total values.

  5. Fixed a bug on the Drawing Board window, where it was possible for the default room data to not be assigned to new Room or other objects you added to the drawing after saving the project as a different name with "Save Project As" (or saving it for the first time) while the Drawing Board window was open.

3/26/2020 9.01.389

  1. Changed the appearance of several of the toolbar buttons with a green circle icon with a question mark inside to say, "Help (F1)." Also fixed a problem where clicking that help button while the Room Data window was open would only take you to the general help topic for the whole Room Data window, rather than taking you to the specific topic that you need, such as the one about the inputs for glass.

  2. For duct objects on Drawing Board, made it so if you have a trunk's Match Zone Colors property set to True and the trunk feeds only one zone, if you have a Trunk with End Cap object plugged in to that trunk it will have the same color as the trunk.

  3. For non-Drawing Board projects, fixed a bug where several popup windows did not display the Rhvac 9 Help window when you pressed F1. These windows included Floor Material (roof, etc.), Global Material Change, and some others.

  4. For duct objects in Drawing Board, made it so if you have a multi-zone system and some ducts have their "Match Zone Colors" property set to True, all the duct colors will be updated each time the ducts are calculated. Formerly, some ducts would not immediately update their colors, and you had to click on a grab handle to make them get the correct color.

  5. Modified things for Drawing Board projects so if you open a Drawing Board project that used a separate DBP file for the drawing data, the program checks to see whether a DBP file of the same base name as the project exists in the same folder as the project, and uses that DBP file for the drawing. Formerly, the program would give preference to the exact folder and filename of the referenced DBP file that was saved in the project file. Now it gives preference to a DBP file of the correct name in the same folder as the project file, if one exists.

  6. For the sensible and latent equipment loads for a room, made it so if you have anything entered in the popup Equipment Cooling Loads window other than row 1 saying, "Miscellaneous Equipment" you cannot enter a number directly into the inputs on the Room Data window. Also made these same changes for the corresponding properties of the Room object in Drawing Board.

3/9/2020 9.01.380

  1. Fixed a bug in Manual D Ductsize in Drawing Board, where if you had ducts connected in a circular way, right clicking on the drawing could sometimes cause the program to lock up.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent update, where some of the popup messages that are supposed to be shown when you have a license for Drawing Board for Rhvac version 1, but not version 2 were not being shown. These popup messages were supposed to be shown in response to doing certain things that require features in version 2 that are not in version 1.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Drawing Board window, where the caption of the window could sometimes say, "Drawing Board Demo" even if you had an active license for Drawing Board for Rhvac version 1.

3/6/2020 9.01.379

  1. Modified the "Help on Current Window" menu item and toolbar button so that it works more often than it did. It is still not as good as simply pressing F1 though, since that can usually precisely take you to the help topic for the current input, not just the topic for the entire window.

  2. Made several changes regarding custom fittings. Made it so any custom fittings you use in a project are saved to the project file. Also made it so when you open a project that has custom fittings in it, they are automatically added to your own custom fitting database. Also modified the Custom Fittings dialog to not allow deleting a custom fitting if it occurs in the current project.

  3. Fixed a bug in the Project Bill of Materials window, where if you entered a duct system using the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, and you had entered a quantity greater than 1 for any fitting on that window, the Project Bill of Materials window would treat it as if the quantity was still set to 1.

2/21/2020 9.01.378

  1. Fixed a bug where if the Drawing Board window was open and you saved the project as a different name using Save Project As, if you then dropped a Room object onto the drawing it would not have the default materials from the Default Room assigned to it.

1/29/2019 9.01.377

  1. Made it so if your project somehow does not have a system one is added, even without having to open the System Data window.

  2. Corrected the "Source" column for the dropdown help for Reference City input on the General Project Data window for the following New Jersey cities to say, "ACCA MJ8" instead of "Custom": Belmar-Farmingdale and Cape May Co. AP.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Room Data Entry Mode dialog, where if your project was in Drawing Board mode already and you opened that dialog and then clicked OK without changing the option, it would mistakenly show you the "Create Existing Rooms on Drawing?" dialog. If you then clicked Yes on that dialog, it would replace your drawing with a new one, and create rooms on the new drawing based on the data found in your project file.

  4. Fixed a bug on ducts in Drawing Board that developed with the previous update, so that if you had ducts that were single line (the "Show as Double Line" property was set to False), the ducts could have their positions changed to be near the upper left corner of the page.

1/13/2019 9.01.376 Official Release of Drawing Board for Rhvac Version 2

  1. Fixed a bug on the Drawing Board window where if a Smart Figure object was selected while you added a native drawing object by dragging it from the catalog, if you then tried moving the new native object it might not move properly at first.

1/10/2019 9.01.375 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug on the "Realistic Elbows Notice" dialog in Drawing Board, where if you unchecked the "Show this dialog" checkbox, the next time you print preview the drawing the dialog would still be shown.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you set the scale factor for a Ductwork Box object it was possible for the object to move from its original place, or change size when moving its parent duct.

12/24/2019 9.01.371 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug where some ducts created in the current shipping version of the program would have parts that were being moved near the origin point.

  2. Fixed a bug where some active license files for Drawing Board for Rhvac Version 2 were being read as demo level.

12/18/2019 9.01.370 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had checked box that says, "Compress drawing file when saving, if possible" option on the Drawing Board Options window, it was possible to lose your most recent changes on the drawing if the drawing was small and simple and did not have much on it.

12/17/2019 9.01.369 (Test Version)

  1. Modified the way the Drawing Board window works during saving or saving as a new filename, so that it does so faster.

12/13/2019 9.01.368 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug on Drawing Board, where if you had defined a custom paper size on the Print Setup dialog for the drawing and had set the orientation to Landscape, it was possible for the print preview of the drawing to incorrectly be set to Portrait.

  2. Made it so when you open a drawing that was last saved in Drawing Board for Rhvac version 1, if you click No on the "Drawing Last Saved in Previous Version" dialog, the drawing finishes opening faster.

  3. Made it so when you print preview a drawing that has ducts on it, the print preview opens faster than in previous test versions, because fewer duct objects are regenerated under various situations. Also made it so closing the print preview is faster than in previous test versions.

12/10/2019 9.01.367 (Test Version)

  1. Modified the weather database for some cities in New Jersey. Corrected the spelling for Paterson. Added Belmar-Farmingdale and Cape May Co. AP.

  2. Made adjustments to the new "Connection Failed" tooltip for ducts on Drawing Board to prevent it from momentarily appearing before a successful connection.

  3. On Drawing Board, added new items to the new "Junction Fitting" menu items in the popup menu for a duct to include performing the same functions for all ducts on the drawing, in addition to those for just the current duct.

  4. Added two new non-Smart Figure objects to the catalog for Manual D Ductsize in Drawing Board. They are named, "Jump Duct" and "Transfer Grille."

  5. Fixed some problems with the new feature to rotate or mirror rooms on the drawing, where windows and doors in rooms not on the current sheet would not get repositioned immediately, and the room name object could have its color set to gray when the room's sheet becomes the current sheet again.

  6. Modified some of the Duct Default Scenario files for ducts on the drawing so that all fitting ID values are the newer, shorter ID values. This change makes it so more of the elbow fittings you use on the drawing are capable of being drawing realistically.

11/26/2019 9.01.362 (Test Version)

  1. Added a "Fittings..." menu item to the right click popup menu for ducts on the Drawing Board window.

  2. Fixed a bug where the Ductwork Box object of type triangle box did not rotate as needed to match the rotation of the duct.

11/21/2019 9.01.361 (Test Version)

  1. Made it so if you try to connect to a trunk by plugging a duct into its side but are too close to an end point or a bend point, a tooltip saying, "Connection Failed" will display briefly.

  2. Modified the feature where you can connect a downstream duct to the side of a trunk so that it will connect when closer to a bend point or an intersection point. Now it works as long as the distance to an intersection point or bend point is greater than the width of the upstream trunk that is being broken.

  3. Made it so if you set the Show Junction Fitting property to False for a duct, that duct and all the ducts connected to its downstream end are drawn with a squared off end that extends all the way to the intersection point.

  4. Added an item that says, "Show Junction Fitting" to the right click popup menu for all trunk objects. Clicking this item will toggle the state of the "Show Junction Fitting" property from True to False or vice-versa.

  5. Made it so the popup menu for the Ductwork Box and the Ductwork Box Name objects are the same, so you can access all of the menu items for the two objects regardless of which one you right clicked

11/19/2019 9.01.359 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug on the Energy Star report where if you selected "BLANK" for either heating or cooling for the form's item 5.3, it would print "low" instead of leaving the item blank.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Energy Star report where if you had entered any direction other than north for the building orientation on the General Project Data window your direction would be ignored, and report items 3.10 and 3.12 would treat zero rotation as north, the next one as northeast, etc..

  3. For Manual D Ductsize duct objects in Drawing Board, fixed a bug that could happen when you used the "Add Bend" command (or its shortcut, Ctrl+Double Click), where if the duct already had one or more bends, the segment of the duct where your mouse was located was not always the segment where the new bend got added.

11/15/2019 9.01.358 (Test Version)

  1. Made several changes to the Duct Default Scenario window. Removed the Apply to Existing list, since applying all default settings to existing ducts would usually not be what the user wants. Added a Current Scenario input with dropdown help that lets you switch to editing any of your other existing main trunk ducts. Changed the window caption and the main frame caption to include the current duct's system number and whether it is a supply or return. In the right click popup menu for each duct, changed the "Duct Defaults for this System" menu to include the duct name, system number, and whether it is a supply or return. Added another menu item for opening the window with the defaults for the corresponding return system if you right clicked a supply duct (and vice-versa). And changed the way the trunk and runout property lists keep the same property row highlighted after you change the value (it used to highlight the first row).

  2. In Manual D Ductsize on Drawing Board, added the ability to connect ducts together by moving a duct so that its downstream end point is over the upstream end point of another duct. Formerly, the only way to connect ducts together was by moving the upstream end point of a duct so that it would plug into another duct.

  3. Made changes to the new Air Handler Box object, and changed the name to "Ductwork Box." The Ductwork Box appears in the Catalog Browser as Air Handler Box, Triangle Box, and Quad Box.

10/7/2019 9.01.354 (Test Version)

  1. Added a Realistic Elbows Notice dialog that shows up when you print preview the drawing and you have not yet purchased Drawing Board for Rhvac version 2. This dialog tells you that if the ducts on the drawing exceed the demo limits any realistic elbows on the drawing will be drawn as simple bends on the print preview.

10/4/2019 9.01.353 (Test Version)

  1. Changed the Drawing Board for Rhvac components from version 1 to version 2, and added a new product in the Elite Software online store to upgrade from 1 to 2. Version 2 lets you draw and print ducts with realistic elbows, lets you add an Air Handler Box object to the drawing from the Manual D Ductsize Drawing Objects catalog, and lets you use the Rotate or Mirror Rooms dialog for rooms on the drawing.

  2. In a Drawing Board project, made it so you can open the Global Material Change dialog from the Room menu as long as the Drawing Board window is open. It used to be that while in Drawing Board mode that dialog was only available by right clicking certain objects on the drawing. Did the same thing for the Global Dimension Change and Rotate or Mirror Rooms dialogs (conditionally, as described above).

  3. Made it so if the project is in Drawing Board mode and the Drawing Board window is open, when you select Global Material Change the Drawing Board window will first be brought to the front if there happens to be another window in front of it.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Equipment Cooling Loads window when opened from a Room object in Drawing Board, where if you selected or entered an item name that has commas, the commas would cause the item name to incorrectly be spread over multiple rows once you closed and reopened the window.

6/26/2019 9.01.348

  1. Changed the REM/Rate XML import feature to say, "or Ekotrope," since that program can also export an XML file in the REM/Rate format.

  2. When the Drawing Board drawing is saved to the project file, modified that process to help protect the drawing data.

  3. On Drawing Board, added a property to Window and Glass Door objects called, "Show Glass Dimensions". Setting this property to True makes it so a movable text object showing the width and height of the window (usually in inches) is shown beside the main object.

5/23/2019 9.01.346

  1. In the REM/Rate import feature, added a note to the "REM/Rate XML Import Notes" window explaining that windows and skylights are imported with width and height being 1 x Area, so you may want to edit those dimensions.

  2. On item 4.14.2 on the Energy Star form report, removed the "%" symbol.

  3. Added warnings to the Evaluation of Project window when you have entered a fixed system CFM that is lower than the minimum airflow needed to cool or heat the space.

  4. Added a warning to the Evaluation of Project window that the entering cooling coil condition could not be determined under the following circumstances: (1) you are generating reports, and have the Equipment Data report or the Room Load Summary report selected, and (2) you have checked the box "This system's equipment was selected in accordance with ACCA Manual S" on the Equipment tab of the System Data window, and (3) the entering coil condition could not be determined. The warning suggests that you try lowering the summer indoor relative humidity.

  5. In the REM/Rate import feature, fixed a bug where if a foundation (basement) wall had no windows in it, the above grade U-value of the mapped material would not be assigned.

  6. In the REM/Rate import feature, made it so if you checked the "Project data" box the design city, outdoor temperatures, elevation and latitude will be imported from the XML file.

4/19/2019 9.01.345

  1. Fixed a bug in the REM/Rate import feature, where the above grade U-value of foundation walls (a behind the scenes quantity) was not being assigned.

  2. Included two example XML files for the REM/Rate import feature. One has smaller dimensions so that the imported room will calculate without errors, while the other file has some dimensions that require an active license in order to not give errors.

  3. Fixed a bug that in the REM/Rate import dialog, where it was possible for the Preview grid to not always update to show the currently selected material in the Material grid as you clicked from one row to the next in the Material grid.

  4. Modified the REM/Rate import feature so that if you select to import into an existing room rather than create a new room the name "Whole House" is assigned to that existing room unless the room name had already been entered.

4/18/2019 9.01.343

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous version, where the Global Material Change button in the Room Data window's toolbar did not work.

  2. Fixed a bug in the REM/Rate import feature, where any foundation walls in the XML file were not being assigned a construction material. And it was possible for foundation walls to not be referenced correctly by any windows or doors that were in them, if there were also any above grade walls in the file.

4/11/2019 9.01.341

  1. Changed the "Overwrite equipment loads dropdown help file" checkbox during the setup so that it defaults to being checked instead of unchecked. We made that change because we have added more entries to that file. So if you have ever modified the EquipmentLoads.txt file you may want to uncheck that box. Or you could make a copy of your EquipmentLoads.txt file before running the setup, install the new file, and then make the same changes to the new version of that file.

  2. Added entries to the top of the dropdown help list for the Item Name column on the Equipment Cooling Loads window. The new items are from Manual J's Table 6A, so the list of items now includes items from Table 6A and Table 6B.

  3. Modified the Equipment Cooling Loads section of the Detailed Room Loads report so that the Item Name column is wider in order to accommodate larger amounts of text. Also modified the editing rules for the EquipmentLoads.txt file so that you can use a semicolon in the Item Name part of the item, and it will be treated by the program as a comma when shown in the dropdown help and on the Detailed Room Loads report.

4/10/2019 9.01.339 (Test Version)

  1. Added the ability to enter multiple default materials on the Default Room Data window. Also made it so if you have more than one default material, when you press F5 or F6 for a material on the Room Data window, a popup menu with open that lets you choose which of your default materials to use.

  2. In Drawing Board, added the ability to set the material for the intrinsic floor and intrinsic roof of a Room object to one of your multiple default materials by using the right click popup menu. Also added that feature to the right click popup menu of Floor, Roof, Wall, Window, Skylight and Door objects.

  3. On the Room Data window, added "S", "D" and "C" button to the left of each material number. The "S" button is "Save Material to Default Room". The "D" button is "Insert Default Material". And the "C" button is "Copy Above Material".

4/3/2019 9.01.338 (Test Version)

  1. Made more changes to the feature that lets you import XML files from the REM/Rate program, including importing infiltration values when possible.

3/25/2019 9.01.336 (Test Version)

  1. Made changes to the feature that lets you import XML files from the REM/Rate program.

2/22/2019 9.01.335 (Test Version)

  1. Added a feature to let you import XML files from the REM/Rate program. The feature is incomplete in this build.

2/13/2019 9.01.334

  1. Added an Open Rhvac Online item to the Tools menu. Also added the same tool to the Standard toolbar. Clicking this tool will open your web browser to https://www.elitesoftapps.com, the web address of Rhvac Online.

  2. Modified some of the help topics that have to do with Rhvac Online.

  3. Added a Show All Tips button to the Tip of the Day dialog. Clicking this button will open the TipOfDay.txt file in NotePad or whatever program your system has associated with TXT files.

  4. Fixed a bug where the export to EnergyPro version 7 did not work. Regarding the export to EnergyPro 5, 6 or 7, be sure to get today's Windows Update for your system, since it fixes a problem that was happening in the export process. The Windows 7 update that fixes the problem is here. And the Windows 10 update is here.

2/4/2019 9.01.332

  1. Made several corrections to the new automatic rooms creation feature.

  2. Fixed a problem where it was possible for the radiant floor description to sometimes not be saved upon clicking OK on the Radiant Floor Properties.

1/30/2019 9.01.330

  1. Added a feature to automatically create rooms on the drawing when you switch the room data entry mode from Room Data window to Drawing Board. To see this feature work, copy a project done in Room Data window mode, then open the copy of the project. Then click the menu, "Project | Room Data Entry Mode," change the mode to Drawing Board, and click OK. Click Yes on the Existing Rooms Warning dialog, then click Yes on the Convert Existing Rooms on Drawing dialog.

  2. Made it so the Room Data Entry Mode dialog shows a warning when there is already at least one room defined in the project, whether created on the Drawing Board window or the Room Data window. The warning tells you that you should make a copy of a project containing rooms before changing the mode.

  3. Updated the Help file to reflect the new feature of automatically creating a project's existing rooms on the Drawing Board window.

12/18/2018 9.01.322

  1. Fixed a bug on the Infiltration Credit tab of the System 1 Ventilation Rate dialog, where the values for the Test Flow inputs were being filled in with the values you had earlier entered into the conditioned floor area inputs on the General tab.

12/17/2018 9.01.321

  1. Made it so if you open a project that was last saved in a version prior to this one, and you had any systems with ventilation values that were 10 or lower, the program will ask you whether you want it to automatically convert those values to CFM values. Versions of Rhvac before 9.01.296 accepted ventilation values of 10 or lower as air change per hour values. Now you can open a project done in a version before that, and it will automatically convert your inputs as needed.

12/12/2018 9.01.318

  1. Changed the text that can appear in the Evaluation of Project window, the Evaluation of Room window, and the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window that says, "Fatal Error:" to instead just say, "Error:" in order to not seem so alarming to the user.

  2. Modified the warning that says your design friction rate is too high or too low to better explain what that means. It now explains that the range is from 0.06 to 0.18

  3. Fixed a bug on the Project Explorer window's toolbar buttons and popup menus, where the "Copy General Project Data" item would only copy and paste the data on the Project tab of the General Project Data window.

  4. On the Project Explorer window, added items to the right click menu of the building node to copy and paste data from the General Project Data window and the Default Room Data window.

  5. Fixed a bug where if you changed the Units setting on the General Project Data window in a project that contained ducts entered with Manual D Ductsize or Tabular Manual D Ductsize, the pressure calculation results could initially be slightly off, due to improper conversion of the elevation value you had entered.

  6. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board that developed in version 9.01.311, where you could not paste a non-image object (such as a rectangle object created in Drawging Board) into the drawing.

11/27/2018 9.01.313 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug on the Ventilation Rate dialog, where if you were using metric units and entered a value to override the default value the value you entered would not properly be converted when saved.

  2. Made it so the Update Manager window opens as a floating window as part of Rhvac instead of opening as a separate program. This change makes it so Rhvac does not have to be run as an administrator on some systems in order to launch Update Manager.

11/14/2018 9.01.311

  1. On the Equipment Cooling Loads window, added a "Combined Diversity Factor" column to show the product of the two diversity factors columns.

  2. On the System Data window, fixed a problem where if you clicked "Get Htg. Cert." or "Get Clg. Cert." your web browser would go to a page that no longer exists. Now those buttons simply take you to the ahridirectory.org address.

  3. In the Help menu and in various places in the program, changed all the links to the Elite Software website to go to addresses starting with https instead of http.

  4. Added an option named, "Show non-glass U-values on Summary Loads reports" to the Rhvac Options window. This value defaults to being checked. If you uncheck it, the U-values will not show on the various Summary Loads reports (building, system and zone).

  5. In Drawing Board added a popup window named Image Conversion that appears when you paste or import an image into the drawing. This new window lets you convert an image into a monochrome bitmap before bringing it into the drawing, in order to greatly reduce your project file size, and significantly improve performance in Drawing Board.

9/28/2018 9.01.302

  1. On the Floor Material dialog, made it so items you add to the Favorites and Custom lists are added to the top of the list rather than to the bottom of the list (the Recent list was already shown with the most recent at the top). Did the same for the dialogs for selecting roofs, walls, glasses and doors.

  2. On the Room Data window, made it so a glass will be ignored if the only non-zero input is Reference, so no warning is added. Did the same for doors.

  3. Made several corrections and adjustments to the Energy Star form report, including items 2.1, 2.4, 3.3, 4.9-4.11, 4.14.1, 4.17-4.22, 5.2 and 5.3.

9/6/2018 9.01.298

  1. Fixed a bug on the System 1 Ventilation Rate dialog, where if you wanted to override the calculated floor area by entering a value in the winter or summer "Conditioned floor area" input it had no effect, and any values you entered for those two inputs were not being saved.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Psychrometric Chart report, where if you were using metric units and entered Yes for the Do Heat Recovery input on the System Data window the HRV point would not get created.

  3. On the Psychrometric Chart report's legend at the top that shows what each point label on the chart below means, added columns to show dry bulb and wet bulb temperature.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Energy Star form and the report, where if you were using metric units some of the values on the report would incorrectly be shown in metric units. The report now shows values in English units even if the project's units setting is metric.

  5. Fixed a bug near the bottom of the blank version of the Energy Star report, where the 3.10 and 3.12 boxes showing sensible gain and total gain for each of the eight directions would have zeros showing in the boxes instead of being blank.

8/17/2018 9.01.296

  1. Modified the Global Dimension Change dialog to include inputs for window overhang projection and offset.

  2. If the Rhvac license is at the demo level and you enter a room width, length or height that exceed the demo limits, added a warning to the Evaluation of Project menu that explains that the room dimensions exceed the demo limits (in addition to the existing warning about the dimension itself).

  3. Fixed a bug on the Manual S Performance Data window, where if you selected the heating model type to be two stage the value you entered in the Nominal Capacity input would not be saved. Fixed the same bug on the cooling side.

  4. Added a feature in Drawing Board that makes it so when you plug a duct into an upstream trunk it will rotate the duct so that it is 90 degrees from the upstream trunk, if it's already close to being perpendicular already. If it's not close to perpendicular already, a bend is added to the downstream duct, and the bend point is positioned perpendicular to and one foot away from the upstream trunk.

  5. Added a property named, "Exclude Upstream Junction Fitting Leg" to all duct objects in Drawing Board except for the Supply Main Trunk and Return Main Trunk objects. When you set this property to True the polygon representing the upstream duct's junction fitting will not include a "leg" for that one downstream duct. This property is also available as a checkable menu item in the right click popup menu for ducts.

  6. Modified the Total Building Summary Loads report so that floors, roofs, walls and doors include the U-value in the description (glass items already included it). Made the same change for similar reports System Summary Loads and Zone Summary Loads.

  7. Added the Energy Star "HVAC Design Report" to the reports you can include. Also added a window named, "Energy Star Form Data" to let you edit the values and checkboxes that will be filled in on the report. This new window is available by clicking the menu, "Project | Energy Star Form Data".

  8. Added an ASHRAE 62.2 tab to the Ventilation Rate dialog. This new dialog lets you calculate and use the ventilation rate defined by ASHRAE 62.2.

  9. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board that could happen upon clicking "File | Import | Into Drawing" or "Drawing Board Tools | Import Into Drawing" and selecting any file type other than DXF. The image imported when doing that could be imported twice, so that you have two images on the drawing of the file you imported.

  10. Changed the ventilation and exhaust inputs so that if you enter a value of 10 or lower the program no longer treats that value as an air changes per hour value. Even numbers under 10 now are treated as CFM values.

3/19/2018 9.01.259

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update in Graphic Manual D Ductsize, where the Maximum Velocity property did not show up in the lists on the Duct Defaults for System 1 dialog.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update in Drawing Board where if you changed a Room object's System Number or Zone Number property the object did not immediately redraw itself to reflect the new system or zone's fill style and color.

3/12/2018 9.01.257

  1. Added the "Reset All Toolbars" toolbar button to the customize menu that opens when you right click one of the toolbars in the main window.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Entering Coil Condition Calculator dialog, where the input values you typed in could be saved even if you clicked the Cancel button to close the window.

  3. Made adjustments to the psychrometric calculations used to determine the entering cooling coil dry bulb and wet bulb temperatures on the Manual S Performance Data window, and in the reports. Also made changes to the calculations used in the psychrometric chart report. These changes make it so the determination of the entering coil and other points can be done successfully more often.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Entering Coil Condition Calculator and Manual S Performance Data windows, where if you changed the units setting for the Manual S window to be different from that of the project it was possible for the temperature and airflow values shown on those windows to be incorrect.

  5. Fixed a bug on the Entering Coil Condition Calculator dialog, where not all of the inputs had dropdown help.

3/5/2018 9.01.255

  1. Added a menu named, "Export Project to Rhvac Online" under "File | Export". Clicking this new menu item simply opens a message box telling you how to upload your project to Rhvac Online.

  2. Added topics to the help file about uploading and downloading projects with Rhvac Online, as well as uploading your favorite, recent and custom material lists.

2/28/2018 9.01.252

  1. Modified the Room Data window's Zone Number input so that if you enter 0 (which is invalid) it gets changed to 1 before being written to the project file.

  2. Changed the default for the option on the Rhvac Options window named, "Show System Concept warnings for systems with AED excursion" to being unchecked.

  3. Made it so the minimum velocity inputs on the Duct Sizing tab of the General Project Data window default to zero. Also changed the minimum velocity values in the sample projects to zero.

  4. Fixed a bug where if you selected a heating or cooling equipment model type while on the Manual S Performance Data window the type you selected would not always be saved.

  5. On the "Room Load Summary" and "Equipment Data" reports made it so if you have selected a two stage heating or cooling unit the high and low stage capacity values are shown.

  6. Changed the list of suggested values in the dropdown help for duct maximum velocity to match the table of values in newer editions of Manual D.

10/18/2017 9.01.247

  1. Fixed a problem on the Manual S Performance Data report where the units you selected on the Manual S window for loads, temperatures and airflows were not always being reflected on the report.

  2. In Drawing Board, made it so you can put an independent Roof object into a Room, then set its Material property to blank for the sole purpose of removing some roof area from the room's intrinsic roof. Formerly, an independent Roof object had to have a material or an error would be added to the Evaluation of Project window.

  3. Added a Simple Mode window to use for the Manual S Performance Data window. The Simple Mode window lets you set the interpolation grid so that you only have to enter data in the top row. It also lets you copy the equipment capacity to that row.

  4. Added an Entering Coil Condition Calculator dialog to use for the Manual S Performance Data window. This new dialog lets you calculate entering coil dry bulb and wet bulb values when using custom loads.

8/29/2017 9.01.243

  1. Changed the caption of the Manual S Cooling Performance Data window, to "Manual S Performance Data," and changed several things on the window. It now includes heating inputs, additional design data inputs, and equipment inputs. The window now works stand-alone if all you need is a Manual S report, and you do not necessarily need to enter anything on the other windows in the project. Also modified the Manual S report to optionally include heating data.

8/16/2017 9.01.241

  1. On the Manual S Cooling Performance Data window, fixed a bug introduced in version 9.01.240, where if you entered Yes in the Allow Custom Load input some data on the window would not get saved upon closing the window.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you had the Load Preview window open in the background and had its "Auto Refresh" feature turned on the Winter Infiltration dialog would not always save your most recent changes.

8/9/2017 9.01.240

  1. On the Manual S Cooling Performance Data window, changed the "Auto Track Load" input's name, location and function. Formerly, changing the input would enable the sensible load and total load inputs at the bottom of the window, in the "Interpolation Results" frame. Now, those inputs at the bottom are always read-only, and changing the input enables the Sensible Gain, Latent Gain and Total Gain inputs at the top of the window, in the "System 1 Loads" frame. The input is now named, "Allow Custom Load," and is in the upper-right of the window.

  2. On the Manual S Cooling Performance Data window, added read-only boxes to show the current system's cooling model number and nominal capacity. These are in a frame named, "Selected Equipment."

7/11/2017 9.01.237

  1. Fixed a bug on the Summer Infiltration dialog where if you had entered any fireplace data on the Winter Infiltration dialog the calculated infiltration CFM box on that dialog would be too high because it would include fireplace CFM from winter.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you had an active license for Drawing Board it was possible for the Drawing Board window's caption to mistakenly say, "Drawing Board Demo". This bug only affected that window's caption.

  3. Technical changes related to saving drawing data within the project file for Drawing Board.

  4. Corrected a problem where if you were using multiple monitors it was possible for some dropdown help windows to display on the wrong monitor.

4/5/2017 9.01.236

  1. Technical changes related to the room notes feature.

3/30/2017 9.01.234

  1. Made some adjustments to the About box to accommodate a wider variety of screen font size settings.

2/24//2017 9.01.232 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had basement walls in rooms in a system and had the building volume option for the project set to Above Grade the volume value shown on the System Summary Loads report was actually the total volume, not just above grade.

  2. Technical changes related to Drawing Board.

1/16/2017 9.01.220

  1. Fixed a bug on the Miscellaneous report when using metric units, where the entered infiltration air changes per hour amounts shown on that report were not correct.

  2. Changed the default option for new systems you create so that the blower door test type option is set to single-point instead of multi-point.

  3. Added a Help button to the bottom of the infiltration dialog. Added text to the infiltration help topic to explain why identical values entered for winter and summer blower door data results in different steady-state infiltration values.

  4. Added blower door information to the Miscellaneous report that shows up when blower door is your selected infiltration method.

  5. Added a message box that opens when you click "Help | Check for Update" and Rhvac is unable to launch the Elite Software Update Manager program. The message explains that you can instead open Update Manager from the Windows Start menu.

1/13/2017 9.01.215 (Test Version)

  1. Corrected a problem in the Check Figures part of the reports where if you entered a custom building volume the note explaining that the volume is based on custom building volume did not include the asterisks as a prefix to the note.

  2. On the General tab of the Select Reports dialog added an option called, "Show calculated total volume also if building volume option is custom or above grade". This option makes it so if the Building Volume Option is set to either Custom or Above Grade then an additional line will be added whereever volume is shown that gives you the actual, total volume in addition to the other volume.

1/9/2017 9.01.213

  1. Fixed a bug that could happen on the Manual S Performance Data report where if the psychrometrics were unable to solve for the entering coil condition the line showing elevation and supply airflow would be shown three times.

  2. Fixed another bug that developed in the 9.01.205 update, where if you had assigned a system number to a room but have not yet created the system that goes with that system number then an error 9, subscript out of range, would occur.

1/5/2017 9.01.211

  1. Fixed bugs that developed in the 9.01.205 update. One was an error 91 that would show up in the Evaluation of Project window if you had any systems without rooms in them. Another was that on the Winter Infiltration dialog if you had chosen the Manual J infiltration method and the Sync checkbox was checked when you clicked OK the summer value shown on the System Data window would be the same as the winter (and vice-versa). Another was that if you had chosen the Manual J method of infiltration the reports would show zero infiltration.

1/4/2017 9.01.205

  1. Removed the limit of 10 recent items on the Floor Material dialog (the list can now go up to 1000 recent floors instead of only showing 10). Did the same for the dialogs for roofs, walls, glass and doors.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Floor Material dialog where if you sorted the bottom list by one of certain columns such as U-Value by clicking on the column header you would get a message box saying, "No material is selected" upon clicking OK or double clicking the bottom list. Did the same for the dialogs for roofs, walls, glass and doors.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Manual S Cooling Performance Data window where if you changed the Units input at the top from English to Metric or vice-versa the values shown in the gray boxes at the top of the window under "System 1 Loads" and "System 1 Design Conditions" would not show the correct values.

  4. Added the "Disable Auto Diversity" property to the "Tabular Manual D Ductsize Defaults" window.

  5. Added "Building Volume Option" and "Building Volume Value" inputs to the Design Conditions tab of the General Project Data window.

  6. Added a "System Is Isolated" input to the System Data window to let you specify that a system should isolated from the rest of the house when doing certain calculations related to space volume and infiltration.

  7. Added a "Test AC/hr" input to the Blower Door Method - Single-Point inputs on the Winter Infiltration dialog. This input lets you enter an air changes per hour value instead of a test flow value. The program will use the current system's volume as well as the building volume to determine a test airflow, which is then plugged into the blower door formulas.

  8. Changed the way blower door infiltration flow is calculated so that the resulting steady state flow of infiltration derived in the blower door calculations is assumed to be for the entire building, and the current system's portion of that building infiltration is assigned to the current system.

8/24/2016 9.01.200

  1. Fixed a problem that developed in the previous update, where if you clicked the button beside the winter Infiltration input on the System Data window and selected the Manual J Air Changes per Hour Method option on the Winter Infiltration dialog, and had the "Sync..." checkbox at bottom of the window selected, after saving the project or closing and then reopening the System Data window the amount shown for the summer Infiltration input would be incorrect. Fixed the same kind of problem for the Summer Infiltration dialog.

8/22/2016 9.01.199

  1. Fixed a problem where if the project filename had the "%" character it was possible for the program to fail to generate report pages.

  2. Made it so the winter Infiltration input on the System Data window is grayed out and read-only, so you have to click the dropdown help button beside the input and enter your infiltration value on the Winter Infiltration dialog. Did the same for summer.

  3. Made it so you can have a CFM of infiltration that is less than 10. Formerly, all CFM values had to be greater than 10 to be recognized as CFM instead of air changes per hour.

3/4/2016 9.01.186

  1. Added and assigned fields to the project file in order for the Elite Software PsyChart program to be able to include supply side and return side duct temperature rises when importing a system from Rhvac using its Import Air Handler Data and Air Handler Model windows.

  2. Changed the name of the Occurrences ("Occ") input on the Room Data window to Room Quantity ("Qty") to avoid users confusing the input to mean "occupants."

  3. Fixed a bug that could happen under very rare circumstances, where if all the parameters were just right it was possible for the duct sizing calculations to not be able to find a close enough solution in trying to find a duct size that met your Design Loss/100 input, and would report a zero size.

2/17/2016 9.01.184

  1. Added a "Show System Name" toggle button to the Load Preview window, that will add the system name after the "System 1" text.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where if you selected the Manual J AC/hr method and specified any fireplaces on the Winter Infiltration dialog, the fireplace CFM due to infiltration was not being included in the winter infiltration amount.

2/3/2016 9.01.183

  1. Made it so if you have created your ducts with either Manual D Ductsize or Tabular Manual D Ductsize the Load Preview window will not show a duct size at the zone level. Formerly it had been showing a size that was based on the parameters of the "built-in" duct sizing option.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where the export to EnergyPro did not include wall, roof and other room components in the exported BLD file.

1/18/2016 9.01.181

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the 9.01.175 update, which made it possible for certain inputs on the Room Data window to change from the original value you entered under certain circumstances.

1/5/2016 9.01.180

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, which could make it so no reports would be selected on the Select Reports window under some circumstances.

12/29/2015 9.01.175

  1. Updated the export to EnergyPro 6 to accommodate the latest version of that software.

  2. Made certain changes to accommodate some foreign language double byte character set systems to prevent a problem where some room data were not being saved to or read from the project file.

11/16/2015 9.01.170

  1. Modified the new "TMY3 Weather Data City" input on the export to EnergyGauge USA feature so it will pre-select the city you selected on General Project Data under more circumstances.

11/9/2015 9.01.169 (Test Version)

  1. Made it so the Bold Critical Path function on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window makes the text blue colored in addition to the font being bold.

  2. In Drawing Board, made it so the Global Material Change feature is able to change walls whose Kneewall property is True to a different roof material.

  3. Added an option to the General tab of the Select Reports dialog called, "Include company street address in page header". Checking the box will make the 3rd line in the left side of the page header of the reports show the company street address followed by the city, state and ZIP.

  4. Changed the icon and position of the Manual S Cooling Performance Data item in the Project menu, and added it to the main toolbar. Also changed the button for it in the System Data window's toolbar.

  5. Fixed a problem in the export to EnergyGauge USA, where the error message that warns about having too many rooms could be displayed even when you have selected the top option to combine materials and rooms into one big room per system, and the number of resulting rooms does not happen to exceed the maximum number of rooms EnergyGauge USA allows.

  6. Made changes to the export of ENB files in the export to EnergyGauge USA feature. Added a "TMY3 Weather Data City" input at the bottom to let you select the TMY3 city to write to the ENB file in order to avoid problems when opening in the EnergyGauge USA program. And made other small changes to the ENB file export.

9/4/2015 9.01.168

  1. Fixed a bug where you could get an error 6, overflow, if on the Duct Load Factors dialog you had zero entered for both the supply and the return duct surface area, and you had checked the Manual Override checkbox for one or more of the load types. Now if you enter zero for both areas the supply and return override amounts will be equally split between supply and return.

  2. For supply systems in Drawing Board, changed the defaults in the Fan Available Static Pressure property so the pressure loss due to a filter is lower than it was. This change only affects new installations.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you had a window and referenced it to a partition wall with an STD (summer temerature difference) of -1 the sensible gain of the window would be negative. Now the window will use the indoor to outdoor summer design temperature difference.

  4. Took measures to prevent a problem where the second part of the Building Rotation Report (the "Whole Building" part) would sometimes unnecessarily be moved to the next page.

  5. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where if you checked the Manual Override box for latent gain on the Duct Load Factors dialog the percent value you entered in the Percent of Total Load box would not get used, and would be replaced with a different value.

  6. Added a dropdown help button to the upper right corner of all the dropdown help windows that include a list, and in the popup menu that appears when you click that new button added menu selections that let you select the maximum number of list items to allow in any such window.

  7. Corrected the text in the dropdown help window for the wall partition summer temperature difference (STD) to explain that the purpose of entering -1 is to make the program use a CLTD for the partition from Manual J's Table 4B in determining the wall's sensible gain.

  8. Added several example temperature options to the dropdown help for the STD and WTD inputs for walls, floors and roofs.

  9. Added a Manual S Overview topic to the F1 help, which gives you information about finding the data you need.

  10. Updated all the sample Drawing Board projects so that the border is no longer a Container object. Did the same with the Drawing Board template drawings.

8/18/2015 9.01.166

  1. On the Load Preview window and report on the "Misc. Supply" row (if present), made it so if the miscellaneous supply latent gain is negative its value is added to the sensible to determine the value shown in the net gain column. Formerly a negative latent gain was not included due to the fact that we don't include a negative latent gain at the system level when determining a system's net gain. But since that exclusion does take place at the system level for the miscellaneous row it is appropriate, even though if the negative miscellaneous latent gain is large enough it will make the values in the net gain column not appear to add up correctly. Also did the same for the "Misc. Return" row.

  2. Changed the way duct gains and losses are added so that they are split up into supply and return loads instead of all being assigned to the supply side. This change can affect supply CFM values in existing projects, as well as reported entering coil conditions.

  3. Made it so latent duct gains are included on the Psychrometric Chart report, causing the process lines for the SD and RD points to be appropriately slanted instead of horizontal.

  4. Fixed a bug where negative miscellaneous gains were not being shown on the Psychrometric Chart report.

  5. On the Psychrometric Chart report made it so the point label positions on the chart can be changed by the user by editing the program's configuration file for the current user. Also made it so the label names can be edited in the same way.

7/30/2015 9.01.165

  1. Fixed a problem on the System Data window, where if you typed something into one of the inputs on either the heating or the cooling grid on the Equipment tab without pressing Enter, and then clicked Next System or Previous System to change the system the very last thing you typed into the grid could be gone.

  2. Removed a couple of outdated topics in the help file about infiltration.

  3. Changed the way wall directions are written to the ENB file in the export to EnergyGauge USA in order to accommodate changes in EnergyGauge version 4.

  4. Removed the word "unconditioned" from the description of type 19 floors, in case you are blowing supply air into the crawl space.

  5. Added a Roof/Ceiling Slope Calculator to the Room and Roof objects in Drawing Board. This dialog opens when you click the button in the dropdown help for the Roof Slope (Intrinsic) and Roof Slope properties of those objects, respectively. It makes it easy to calculate the roof or ceiling slope in a room, from which the program calculates the area of the roof or ceiling.

  6. Changed the name of the Cooling Coil Interpolator window to Manual S Cooling Performance Data, and made several changes regarding that window. Added the ability to enter sensible to total ratios instead of sensible capacities. Added a Direct Capacity Adjustment input to accommodate the adjustments required by some manufacturers. Added Load and Cap./Load% boxes to show the capacity results with respect to the loads of the current system. Added an Auto Track Load input to let you enter custom total and sensible loads instead of those of the current system. Added an "Include this grid on Manual S report" checkbox to let you choose whether to include the interpolation values you entered on the report. Added the ability to change to a different system. Added a Units input to let you change the units for the interpolation data you enter, in case they are different from those of the current project. Added a Manual S Performance Data report that shows the interpolation results from the data you entered, and optionally shows the actual grid of interpolation data you entered from the manufacturer to help verify that you indeed entered manufacturer performance data values for the equipment you selected. Added a Manual S Performance Data item under the Project menu to take you directly to the window.

  7. Added several help topics to the F1 help, including several examples, to show you how to use the Manual S Performance Data window given various formats of manufacturer performance data.

  8. Added the following inputs to the Cooling Data grid on the Equipment tab of the System Data window: "Adjusted Total Capacity (Optional)", "Adjusted Sensible Capacity (Optional)", and "Adjusted Latent Capacity (Optional)". These inputs are filled in for you automatically if you enter data on the Manual S Performance Cooling Performance data window. If you do not enter data on that window and instead enter these values directly they will be shown on the Manual S Performance Data report, the Equipment Data report and the Room Load Summary report.

  9. Added the ability to reset the menu and toolbars of the main window by holding down the Alt key and right clicking on the background of the main window.

4/28/2015 9.01.157

  1. Took measures to prevent loss of data for projects that have the Drawing Board drawing saved in the project file.

  2. Fixed a problem where the Proposal Maker document templates for Rhvac were not being included in the setup.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Copy Document Template window in Proposal Maker, for the documents in projects listed under the Rhvac Projects tab, where the preview of the document would not show up.

3/23/2015 9.01.155

  1. Made it so the "Delete Component (Shift+F5)" item in the Room menu is available for the Default Room Data window.

  2. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, modified the display of equivalent length data in the right-side fittings grid to show which nominal equivalent length was used for fittings that have a range of possible nominal equivalent lengths.

  3. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, fixed a bug in the calculation of the number of downstream takeoffs for fittings in Group 2, where that number was always being determined as zero, which meant that the nominal fitting equivalent length being used was always the one at the bottom of the range.

3/5/2015 9.01.152

  1. Fixed a problem on graphic Manual D Ductsize where if you had created a Supply Trunk that was not plugged in to anything but it had other ducts connected to it, under certain circumstances the program could lock up upon calculating.

3/5/2015 9.01.136

  1. Compiled new version that includes the changes described below in the test versions.

12/16/2014 9.01.135 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a problem in the previous test version, 9.01.134, where the program performed slowly in several places.

11/25/2014 9.01.134 (Test Version)

  1. Added a line to show velocity pressure on the Pressure Changes Graph.

  2. Took measures to prevent the program from locking up upon opening the Drawing Board window in a project with huge drawing data in which one or more images have been placed on the drawing in a format that is contrary to the instructions given in the series of online videos, here: https://www.elitesoft.com/pub/videos/db/importfiles2/dbimportfilestoc.html

10/9/2014 9.01.131

  1. Edited some of the text on the Winter Infiltration dialog to make it clear that the direct options at the bottom (Direct Entry CFM and Direct Entry AC/Hr) require you to enter flow for the natural, non-pressurized state.

  2. Modified some of the sample projects that are in Drawing Board mode to have landscape orientation on the drawing.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Room Load Summary report that would happen when you had entered a value for the radiator Btuh per length and had also entered duct load factor values that caused there to be ductwork sensible loss. In that case the Htg Rad Len column values showing the calculated radiator length required would be lower than they should be at the zone, system and building levels.

5/15/2014 9.01.129

  1. Expanded the dropdown help for the Group input on the Custom Wall dialog to show thermal mass descriptions, examples, and descriptions of the examples.

  2. Added the list of Manual J assumed attic temperatures to the dropdown help for the Attic Ceiling Type input on the Duct Load Factors dialog.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Edit Custom Fitting dialog, where if you were editing an existing fitting the program would not save your edits and would show you an error message box that says, "Fitting Not Added," which would show an error saying, "Fitting record was not found."

  4. Changed the captions of the Lighting & Equipment, People, and Profile frames on the Room Data window to include shortcut keys. Now, to put the cursor in the first input of these frames, type Alt+L, Alt+P, or Alt+O.

  5. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent update, where the export to EnergyPro 5 would not work unless you also had EnergyPro 6 installed.

3/6/2014 9.01.128

  1. Changed the logic that makes it so as you type in the room dimensions it also changes floor 1 and roof 1 dimensions so that it will not do that if there is only a space character in the floor or roof material input. Formerly, those inputs had to be totally blank for it to not do it.

  2. Added the ability to choose to export to EnergyPro 6 instead of EnergyPro 5.

1/9/2014 9.01.124

  1. Added a Summer Wet Bulb dialog that opens when you click the dropdown help button beside the summer wet bulb input on the General Project Data window. This new dialog lets you enter a desired grains difference value, and it will calculate a corresponding wet bulb temperature for you.

  2. Changed the way the calculations deal with partition walls when distributing system infiltration gains and losses to the rooms, so that such walls are included in the sum of the room's above grade gross wall area.

  3. Fixed a bug in the export to EnergyGauge USA, where the cavity and board R-values of walls was not always being included in the export.

  4. Modified the export to EnergyGauge USA, where the total number of bedrooms is determined by the number of rooms with just "bed" in the name instead of "bedroom."

9/24/2013 9.01.122

  1. Fixed a bug on the Duct Size Preview report, where the values in the Rough. Factor and Design L/100 columns were being rounded off to 1 decimal place.

  2. Made it so if you have entered any notes for a room on the Room Notes dialog they will be added to the Detailed Room Loads report.

  3. Made it so the "Actual" line under the "Cooling System Summary" section of the Room Load Summary report does not get included if you have unchecked the "Include this system's equipment on the Room Load Summary report" checkbox on the System Data window. Also made it so the "Cooling System Summary" section does not show up at all unless at least one of the necessary options to show the possible quantities below it is turned on.

8/14/2013 9.01.121

  1. Made a small correction to the calculation of the percentage of shading on a window due to an overhang in some cases.

  2. Fixed a bug in the Export to EnergyPro feature, where the exporting code would look for the custom mapping data files in the wrong folder. The custom mapping data files are only used if you customized the EnergyPro mapping by using the EnergyPro Custom Mapping window in Rhvac.

6/5/2013 9.01.118

  1. In the Bill of Materials component, fixed a bug in the automatic generation of the fitting parts list for certain types of takeoff fittings, where it was possible for the required quantity to be smaller than it should be in certain circumstances.

  2. Fixed a bug where the "Help on Current Window" toolbar button and menu item could become disabled under certain circumstances.

5/15/2013 9.01.117

  1. On the Detailed Room Loads report made it so the room length and width show as "n/a" if entered as 1 and the area, or if the project is in Drawing Board mode and the room is not a perfect rectangle with only 4 walls.

  2. Made it so the Drawing Board button and menu item are enabled even in projects that are not in Drawing Board mode. For such projects clicking the button shows a message box that explains that you have to switch the mode of the project using the Room Data Entry Mode function.

  3. Added items in the Help menu to take you to the page of links on our website for Bill of Materials and Proposal Maker videos. Also changed such menu items for Drawing Board and Manual D Ductsize to take you that same page that lists all the videos.

4/12/2013 9.01.116

  1. Fixed a bug in Manual D Ductsize and Tabular Manual D Ductsize, where if you had a system with multiple zones and you had set the Use CV if MultiZone input to Yes on the System Data window, trunks that feed only one zone would have the airflow from the peak calculation method assigned to them instead of the airflow from the average method.

4/5/2013 9.01.115

  1. Added an "Open Project from Recent Folder" item in the File menu, which lets you display the Open Project dialog already set to one of your recent project folders.

  2. Added a "Browse Recent Folder" button to the multi-project Project Explorer window, which lets you instantly change the list of project files to that of any of your recent project folders.

  3. Changed the folder location where certain temporary files are written while the program is running, in the case of the installation being the old, pre-2010 type.

  4. Fixed a bug that developed in one of the updates on the RPER 1.01 ACCA Design Review Form Data window, where it was not possible to change the picture in the Contractor's Signature input.

2/6/2013 9.01.113

  1. Added a "Num Pad" toolbar that lets you enter numeric values into inputs by clicking with the mouse.

  2. Made it so the EnergyGauge file export writes appropriate values for the cooling coil CFM entries.

  3. Fixed a bug on the ACCA review form report, where for heat pumps the heating capacity was sometimes incorrect.

12/6/2012 9.01.99

  1. Made some small changes to the ENB file for the Export to EnergyGauge USA FlaRes 2010 to accommodate version 3.0.03 of that software.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you had an active license for Bill of Materials and had entered ducts on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window and had set the Takeoff Source of the project bill of materials to "TMDD" the takeoff from the ducts on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window would be limited to the demo level (only 6 trunks and 6 runouts).

11/20/2012 9.01.98

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had any systems with no rooms in them that came in sequence before systems with rooms in them the return airflows for ducts in the higher system numbers would not get assigned correctly. This bug fix applies to ducts created in graphic Manual D Ductsize or on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window.

  2. Removed the Minimize button from the Room Notes window, which was inappropriate for that window.

  3. Added over 500 US and Canada city records to the weather database from Table 1A in the latest edition of Manual J. Depending on the existing data for each city, we either added a new city record or edited the existing data.

  4. Made improvents to the fireplace options and inputs on the Winter Infiltration dialog, as well as to the F1 help information about fireplaces.

9/18/2012 9.01.90

  1. Fixed a bug where custom duct fittings you added were not being saved globally, but only in the current project.

  2. Added a "Merge from Project" button to the Custom Fittings dialog. This new button lets you copy any custom fittings that may be in the current project into your custom fitting database, so you can use those custom fittings in other projects. This feature can be useful when opening a project that was done on another computer and that had custom fittings added to it. You can now copy the custom fittings from that project into your own custom fitting database.

  3. Made improvements to the help file.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Hourly Room Net Gain report when the project is set to metric units, where the values for the data points were having the conversion from Btuh to watts done twice on them, making them too small.

  5. Removed the "Square ft. per Ton" line from the Check Figures section when you have both the "Show Net tonnage" and "Show Recommended tonnage" boxes unchecked on the General tab of the Select Reports dialog. Also made it so the "ft²/Ton" column on the Load Preview window and report is hidden when showing neither kind of tonnage.

8/17/2012 9.01.83

  1. Changed the text of the dropdown help for the Elevation Derating inputs. It now says that the normal thing is to leave those inputs set to a value of 1.0, and just let the program calculate the actual load without any derating, and then apply whatever derating factors the manufacturers recommend when selecting the heating and cooling equipment.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Winter Infiltration dialog where if you first selected "Manual J Air changes per Hour Method" and entered a number of fireplaces greater than zero, and then changed to one of the other infiltration methods the fireplace CFM from the "Manual J Air changes per Hour Method" option would still get added to the winter infiltration rate in the calculations.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Zone Summary Loads report when there are multiple zones in a system, where the lines showing glass sensible gains were showing the gain from the average load calculation rather than the peak.

7/5/2012 9.01.82

  1. Fixed a bug when entering rooms in Drawing Board, where if there were certain problems with the Room objects on a drawing it was sometimes possible for the program to not be able to correct those problems, and it would report various errors about the rooms.

  2. Changed "ACCA Design Review Form" to "RPER 1.01 ACCA Design Review Form" everywhere.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Zone Summary Loads report, where it was not showing a line for the AED Excursion load, though that load was included in the total being shown.

  4. For Drawing Board projects, made it so if the data on the Default Room Data window are incomplete when you drag and drop a room onto the drawing a message box will ask you whether you want to copy some generic defaults to the default room data before proceeding.

5/18/2012 9.01.80

  1. Fixed a problem in the Export EnergyGauge USA feature, where the ENB file produced, when imported into EnergyGauge USA, would cause the Temperatures tab on the Equipment tab to be blank instead of having the Programmable Thermostat checkbox.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous version, 9.01.78, which made it so some of the graphs, such as pie charts, would not show up on every computer.

5/11/2012 9.01.78

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had the Load Preview window open and had its Auto-Refresh feature turned on, and then on the Room Data window you opened the Sloped Ceiling Area Calculator, when you clicked OK on that dialog it would not always remember what you had just entered on it, and the roof's width and length on the Room Data window would sometimes remain unchanged.

  2. Fixed a problem in the Export EnergyGauge USA feature, where if you selected the 2010 format and there was only one space being written to the ENB file (either you selected the first option and there was only one system in the project, or you selected the second option and there was only one room in the project), partition walls would have their "Adjacent To" input in EnergyGauge USA blank. That was happening because the program was writing "Interior" for the ADJACENT_TO field in the ENB file, and EnergyGauge USA only allows Interior as an option if there are multiple spaces. The program now writes "Garage" if there is only one space in the ENB file.

  3. Made it so the ENB file created with the Export EnergyGauge USA feature includes much less extraneous information.

4/30/2012 9.01.77

  1. Fixed a bug in the Export EnergyGauge USA feature, where if you had two walls that were nearly identical in different rooms only one of them would get included in the ENB file.

4/27/2012 9.01.76

  1. Fixed a bug in the Export EnergyGauge USA feature when using the option to group rooms and materials in a system together, where the ceiling area on the Ceilings tab of EGUSA was incorrect.

4/25/2012 9.01.75 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug in the Export EnergyGauge USA feature when using the option to export each room as a separate space, where if you had a wall that was blank or otherwise ignored on the Room Data window, followed by a good wall, and you had a window or door that referenced that good wall, the exported window or door in the ENB file would not be associated with the correct wall and could cause a "List index out of bounds" error in EGUSA.

  2. Made it so room names exported in the ENB file with the Export EnergyGauge USA feature only include characters that program allows for room names (letters, numbers and spaces). Also made it so room names in the ENB file are limited to 30 characters or less, since that is another limitation in EGUSA.

4/24/2012 9.01.74 (Test Version)

  1. Added "Save as Default" and "Load Default" buttons to the Reports tab of the Select Reports dialog. These buttons lets you save your report selection checkboxes in one project and later load those same selections in another project.

  2. Made it so the elevation adjustment factors do not show up on the Project report unless they are not equal to 1, and the cooling factors are not shown unless the "Show Recommended tonnage" checkbox on the General tab of the Select Reports dialog is also checked.

  3. Added an option to the Export EnergyGauge USA file that lets you create only one space (room) per system in the ENB file, and group together similar floors and roofs that are in the same system into one big floor or roof.

  4. In the Export EnergyGauge USA feature, when selecting one of the 2010 format options made it so the comment for each material includes the room(s) and item number(s) that were the source of each material in the Rhvac project.

  5. Added a "Permit Number(s)" input to the Project tab of the General Project Data window. The text you enter shows up on the Project report.

4/16/2012 9.01.72

  1. Modified the help file topic for the new EnergyGauge export feature.

4/13/2012 9.01.71 (Test Version)

  1. Added a checkbox to the Export EnergyGauge USA dialog that lets you create an ENB file in the format of the previous version of the program, which was called "EnergyGauge USA FlaRes2008."

4/10/2012 9.01.70 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug in the export of the new version of the EnergyGauge ENB file, which could cause an "List index out of bounds" and other errors after importing the ENB file into in EnergyGauge and opening the project.

4/9/2012 9.01.69 (Test Version)

  1. Changed the way the CFM Per Runout input on the General Project Data window is handled in the calculations for the built-in duct sizing, so that the value entered serves as a maximum CFM per runout rather than a target average CFM per runout.

  2. Corrected the summer weather data for Knoxville, Tennessee.

  3. Changed the icons on the Room Data window's toolbar for the Create New Room and Insert New Room buttons in order to make them look completely different than the "R" button that is used to open the Room Data window.

  4. Modified the ENB file created for the EnergyGauge USA file export feature so that it can include multiple systems and multiple rooms.

3/1/2012 9.01.64

  1. Fixed a bug in the EnergyPro export, where rooms, windows and skylights with multiple occurrences were only being written to the EnergyPro file once.

  2. Added a line that shows exhaust CFM to the Total Building Summary Loads report and System Summary Loads reports.

  3. Made a minor correction to the SHGC values for the following window construction materials to match Manual J: 2A-w-o, 2A-a-o, 2A-v-o, 2A-f-o, 2A-w-d, 2A-a-d, 2A-v-d, 2A-f-d, 2B-w-o, 2B-a-o, 2B-v-o, 2B-f-o, 2B-w-d, 2B-a-d, 2B-v-d, 2B-f-d, 3A-w-o, 3A-a-o, 3A-v-o, 3A-f-o, 3A-w-d, 3A-a-d, 3A-v-d, 3A-f-d.

  4. Corrected the weather data for Fayetteville, North Carolina.

1/16/2012 9.01.63

  1. Added several Help buttons in various windows throughout the program. Also added links to some online instructional videos in various places in the program, including in the Help menu and on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize and Drawing Board windows.

1/12/2012 9.01.62

  1. Fixed a bug on the Wall object in Drawing Board, where if, before you divided a wall with the Divide Wall Here command you had set the Kneewall property to True, the new wall segment created by dividing the wall would have that property set to the default value of False instead of matching that of the original wall segment.

  2. Modified the "Repair and Compact Database" function to accommodate a file that is so corrupt that it does not appear to be a database, but not so corrupt that it cannot be repaired. Formerly, if a file was corrupt enough to no longer appear to be a database the program would refuse to even try to repair it. Now it will give you a warning on a Yes/No message box. If you click Yes the program will go ahead and try to repair it.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you added a new city on the Weather Database window while the General Project Data window was open the General Project Data's list of cities would not include your new city until you closed and reopened that window.

  4. Added a "Match Upstream Duct Size" property to ducts on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window. This property shows up for any duct that is not a main trunk (the first one in the system).

  5. Added a cooling coil interpolater window that can be opened from the System Data window. The current window only deals with cooling data for air conditioners and air source heat pumps, which is the majority of cases, but we plan to expand this feature to include other kinds of data soon.

11/21/2011 9.01.57

  1. Fixed a bug on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize Layout dialog, where after you checked or unchecked any of the checkboxes the gray row at the top of the list would display incorrectly.

  2. Fixed a problem where if you used the "Copy to Clipboard" feature of the Load Preview window and then pasted it into an Excel spreadsheet, on certain projects an extra row would be created for any rooms that had "Not MDD" or "Not TMDD" notes in the Duct Size column. Also made it so only visible columns are copied to the clipboard.

  3. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, made it so when you select an 11-B fitting for a duct it automatically sets the Material Option property to "None" instead of "Default," since a new item does not need to be added to the project bill of materials for this kind of fitting, which is just a bend in the flex duct.

  4. On the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, made it so when you change the Material property for a duct by typing the first letter of the material ID (instead of using the dropdown help window), the Roughness property will automatically change to be appropriate for the new material. Made the same kind of change on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize Defaults window.

  5. Fixed a bug on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, where any duct you added to the "Individual Ducts" part of the tree would be flagged as invalid and would generate a warning saying that the duct would be ignored.

  6. Fixed a bug on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, where the Copy Fittings button and menu item were always enabled. Now they are only enabled when a duct with fittings is selected.

  7. Added an Insert Trunk feature to the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window. Clicking this button will insert a new trunk in between the current duct and the one just upstream of it (or downstream, on the return side).

  8. Added Cut Branch and Paste Branch buttons to the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window. This feature allows you to move a trunk and the ducts connected to it to a different location within the same system.

10/24/2011 9.01.54

  1. Added a "Save and Compact Project" item to the File menu. This feature is like "Save Project," but also performs a "Repair and Compact Database" on the project file.

10/21/2011 9.01.53 (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a bug on the System Data window, where if you clicked Copy System in that window's toolbar any recent changes you may have made to the current system just prior to clicking Copy System would not be included in the system data that gets copied to the clipboard.

  2. Made it so the "Show Net Tonnage" and "Show Recommended Tonnage" options on the General tab of the Select Reports dialog are complied with on the print preview version of the Load Preview. Formerly, which tonnages were shown were based on the state of the "Show Net Ton" and "Show Rec Ton" buttons on the Load Preview window itself.

9/12/2011 9.01.49

  1. Fixed a problem on the Equipment Cooling Loads window, where the cells in the grid that are for entering numeric values would accept non-numeric characters as well.

  2. Fixed a bug that could occur under certain circumstances in the calculation of Manual D Ductsize return duct cumulative losses and effective lengths, as described in its Readme file. Fixed the same potential problem in Tabular Manual D Ductsize.

8/25/2011 9.01.48

  1. Fixed a bug in the new feature added in the previous update that warns you when you have selected an infiltration option that does not match the building area. If the building area was over 3,000 square feet and you had appropriately selected an option in the 5th column, an incorrect warning would be added to the Evaluation of Project window saying that the column was not correct.

8/23/2011 9.01.47

  1. Added a warning to the Evaluation of Project window when the infiltration method chosen on the Winter Infiltration dialog is "Manual J Air Changes per Hour Method" and the selected column is wrong for the entered building area. Did the same for the Summer Infiltration dialog.

  2. Fixed an obscure bug where if you imported an Rhvac 8 project in which you had never opened the System Data window, and you also never opened the System Data window in the project after you imported it into Rhvac 9, the Evaluation of Project window would show a "No current record" error.

  3. Corrected the name of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, which had been only "Elizabeth."

  4. Corrected the weather data for Gainesville, Florida to match Manual J.

  5. Fixed a bug on the Manual D Ductsize Data report, where if the Return Main Trunk object had its "Add Return Loss to Supply" property set to False (which is not common) the total effective length of the supply would be incorrect. Also fixed a bug in the same circumstance, where the line showing the return loss added to the supply would incorrectly show the loss of the return side instead of zero.

  6. Fixed a problem with the self-extracting setup file available on the web, rh9setup.exe, where if a file named Setup.exe was located in the same folder as rh9setup.exe the Setup.exe in the same folder would be run instead of the Setup.exe contained in rh9setup.exe.

7/15/2011 9.01.46

  1. Fixed a bug that was introduced in a recent version, where if you selected all the reports on the Select Reports window only the default set of reports would be included.

7/12/2011 9.01.45

  1. In the export to EnergyGauge USA, changed the way R-values are written for the block walls that have no framing but do have board insulation (category 13A), so board insulation is read as being interior instead of exterior. The help for EnergyGauge USA explains that its "Wall Cavity Ins. R-Value" input can also be used for the interior insulation when you have concrete block with interior insulation.

  2. Fixed a bug in the Global Material Change feature for projects done with Drawing Board, where the description for glass items would stay the same when you performed a change.

6/30/2011 9.01.44

  1. Corrected the weather data for Shreveport, Louisiana to match Manual J.

  2. Added thousands separators and units to the line that shows equipment total capacity on the Room Load Summary report.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed recently on the print preview version of the Building Rotation Duct Sizes report, where the room CFM values for each rotation were the same value, which was that of the unrotated building. Also went back to performing the rotation calcs twice during generation of the print preview if both rotation reports have been selected, which is necessary because of the option on Select Reports where the system air type can be forced to Auto for the building rotation report.

  4. On the Rotate or Mirror Rooms dialog, made it so the Building Orientation direction on the General Project Data window is only updated if you have selected all rooms for rotation or mirroring. The message box displayed after the rotation tells you whether or not the orientation direction has been updated.

6/22/2011 9.01.42

  1. Changed the error that gets displayed for a duct in the Evaluation of Project window when the sizing method is set to use the schedule, but the schedule has all zero values entered. Formerly, the error would say, "Subscript out of range," but now it says, "Sizing method is "Schedule," but duct schedule has all zero sizes."

  2. Fixed a bug on the Room Data window when using the F5 and F6 functions ("Copy Above Or Default And Room Dimension" and "Insert Only Default Room Data"), where the description of the current material would not get updated to be that of the material from the default room. This bug made it so the last part of the material description shown on the "Summary Loads" reports could be incorrect.

  3. Added the formulas for calculating duct surface areas to the F1 help file, for situations where you want to hand calculate the duct surface areas to enter on the Duct Load Factors dialog.

6/17/2011 9.01.41 (Test Version)

  1. Made it so if you associate Rhvac version 6 or 8 project files (extension "RHV") with Rhvac9.exe the program will import the project, treating the file as if you had selected it with the "Open Previous Version Project" feature.

6/9/2011 9.01.40

  1. Changed the "Not MDD" message on the Load Preview window to "Not TMDD" when the message applies to the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window rather than graphic Manual D Ductsize.

  2. Fixed a bug on the "Duct Size Preview" and "Building Rotation Duct Size Preview" windows where the size for the supply main trunk would show up as minus one ("-1") if that duct had been defined using Tabular Manual D ductsize or graphic Manual D Ductsize.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you had created ducts with the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window and had selected to print one or more of the Tabular Manual D Ductsize reports, and you also selected to print the Room Load Summary report, the number of runout ducts per room shown on the Room Load Summary report would be higher than it should be.

  4. Modified the reporting code so the building rotation will only be performed once during report generation even if you have both of the rotation reports selected.

  5. Made it so fewer reports are selected by default when starting a new project using the Blank Project icon. Also made it so each of the sample projects have fewer reports selected than they did before.

5/17/2011 9.01.38

  1. Fixed a bug when exporting a project to EnergyPro, where if you selected "Existing" as the Surface Type the assemblies assigned to each of the materials would be incorrect.

5/11/2011 9.01.37

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had used a custom basement wall with more than 2 characters after the final dash (which indicates the wall's floor depth), when exporting to resCHECK the floor depth would be assigned a value of zero.

  2. Made it so when you export a file to Rem/Rate the floor depth of any custom basement walls will be assigned.

  3. Fixed a bug where any text you entered for the Comment field on the Cooling tab of the Equipment tab of the System Data window would not get saved.

  4. Fixed a bug where even if you checked the box for the "Show EER for air conditioners and air source heat pumps on reports" option on the Rhvac Options dialog the reports would still only show the SEER for those units.

  5. Made it so the cooling and heating efficiency values are shown more thoroughly on reports. For example, the efficiency of a two speed furnace now gives the AFUE of both the high and low speeds.

4/27/2011 9.01.34

  1. Made it so when you create a new room on the Room Data window it always sets the system and zone number inputs to that of the most recent room you had been viewing. Formerly it only did that if you had the "Copy all default data to rooms created in Room Data window mode" option on the Rhvac Options dialog unchecked.

  2. Fixed a bug in the export to EnergyPro, where each floor was not always being included.

  3. Fixed a bug in the export to EnergyPro, where skylights were not being included in the export.

  4. Added an "EnergyPro Export" dialog that opens when you export to EnergyPro. This new dialog has an option that lets you set EnergyPro's Surface Type input ("Existing," "New," "Altered," or "Removed") for all of the materials and rooms exported.

4/18/2011 9.01.31

  1. Reduced the time it takes to generate the reports when the Print Preview window is not open yet.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Winter Infiltration dialog, where if you selected the "Foam (as recommended by foam manufacturers)" option (0.1 air changes per hour) and the Sync checkbox at the bottom of the window was checked, the summer infiltration value would get set to a value other than 0.1. Fixed the same bug on the Summer Infiltration dialog.

  3. Fixed a bug where the Mirror option on the Rotate or Mirror Rooms dialog did not work.

  4. Added a Register Sizing Data property to main trunks on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window. Clicking the button beside this property opens a dialog that lets you enter register widths and heights that correspond to ranges of CFM values. Any runouts in the same system that have their Auto Assign Register Size property set to True will have their Register Width and Register Height properties automatically sized according to the data on that dialog.

  5. Added 11 properties to the left side of the Tabular Manual D Ductsize Defaults dialog. Including these properties gives you more control over the default properties assigned to new ducts you create, and it makes it faster to make changes to multiple ducts at one time.

4/6/2011 9.01.28

  1. Added Copy Fittings and Paste Fittings functions to the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window's toolbar and right click popup menu. This feature lets you copy and paste just the fittings from one duct to another. The clipboard for this feature is separate from the clipboard used for the Copy Duct and Paste Duct functions.

  2. Made it so when you select a Group 13 fitting, in either Graphic or Tabular Manual D Ductsize, the device pressure loss is adjusted to account for the velocity of the duct compared to the reference velocity of 900 FPM for the Group 13 fittings. This change corrects a situation where the back-calculated equivalent length for one of these fittings could be very high if the velocity for the duct was very low.

  3. Made it so you can type a feet and inches value into the Length property for a duct on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window. Remember that in inputs where you can type feet and inches, you can type the number for feet, then a dash, then the number for inches.

  4. Fixed a bug where the total effective length shown in a few places in the program and its reports was sometimes based on the route with the longest effective length rather than the route with the highest pressure loss. The route with the highest pressure loss is usually the one with the highest effective length, but not always. So the program now always chooses the route with the highest pressure loss when it refers to the total effective length of a duct system.

4/1/2011 9.01.26

  1. Changed the wording of the warnings displayed in the Evaluation of Project window when you have a material with a zero U-value.

  2. Made it so the Evaluation of Project window remembers its size and position better, so it will stay where you put it.

  3. Added "MDD" or "TMDD" to the beginning of any errors or warnings from graphic Manual D Ductsize or Tabular Manual D Ductsize that are shown in the Evaluation of Project window.

  4. Made it so if the fan external static pressure entered on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window is lower than the total system static pressure loss the "Design Friction Rate Status" will say, "ESP Low." Also added a warning when the design friction rate status is not "OK" on that window, and for duct systems entered on graphic Manual D Ductsize.

  5. Fixed a bug where if you unchecked the "Display values in decimal feet when using English units" option on the Rhvac Options dialog some values would not show up on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window, such as duct lengths and fitting equivalent lengths.

3/23/2011 9.01.25

  1. Fixed a bug that could happen after using the "Duplicate Room" function in Drawing Board, where the project could then have a persistent error number 3021, "No current record." Also made it so any project having this problem is automatically repaired once you open it in this version.

3/22/2011 9.01.24

  1. Added a Sloped Ceiling Area Calculator dialog, which opens by clicking the item in the dropdown help for the roof/ceiling's Width and Length inputs. This dialog lets you enter dimensions for a room's sloped ceiling, and calculates the resulting area of the ceiling. The area is copied to the roof/ceiling's Width input, and the number 1 is copied to the Length input.

3/16/2011 9.01.21

  1. Fixed a bug that would happen during the import of Rhvac 6 or 8 projects, where the Comment for the cooling equipment entered on the System Data window would be changed to say, "0" (zero) instead of the original text.

  2. Fixed a bug on the System Equipment Data and the equipment part of the System Room Load Summary reports, where the efficiency values for heating and cooling did not match those shown on the Equipment tab of the System Data window. Also fixed a bug where if the unit was two speed (two stage furnace, etc.) the capacity shown on those reports was the value from the field used to save single speed capacity rather than the field for a two speed unit's high speed capacity.

3/14/2011 9.01.20

  1. Fixed a bug on the Room Data window where the F5 function for copying the above glass or door was copying the item from room 1 instead of from the current room.

  3. Improved the mapping of glass types for custom windows when exporting to EnergyGauge USA.

  4. When exporting to EnergyGauge USA, made it so each error or warning only appears once in the list.

  5. Made it so when exporting to EnergyGauge USA walls that contain windows with differing overhangs are exported as different walls rather than grouping them together.

3/11/2011 9.01.19

  1. Updated the menu, "Help | Elite Software on the Web | Rhvac Update Page" to go to the version 9 recent history page.

  2. Technical changes regarding how materials on the Room Data window are read and written.

  3. Made it so the ACCA design review form can be printed for each system in the project.

  4. Fixed a bug on the ACCA design review form where if all the rooms were heating only the system CFM would still be shown in the Cooling CFM line. The same problem was fixed when rooms are all cooling only.

3/7/2011 9.01.11

  1. Fixed a bug on the Global Material Change dialog when opened from the Room Data window, where the bottom input for the floor material (the material to change the floor to) would not change after you selected a floor on the Floor Material dialog.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Room Data window, where if you had the "Exclude partition from wall lengths for Floor 1 perimeter calc" option checked on the Rhvac Options dialog, when you pressed F5 to insert the default floor into the Floor 1 row, the perimeter value inserted would not include the first wall's length, even if that wall was not a partition.

3/4/2011 9.01.9

  3. Modified the ACCA Design Review Form report so that everything is compacted toward the top of the page slightly, in order to make it so the text at the bottom of the report will print even on older printers with smaller printable areas.

  4. Fixed a bug where if you had a room with a system number greater than the number of systems you had defined on the System Data window the Evaluation of Project window would show a fatal error that said, "Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit."

  5. Fixed a bug on the new Equipment Cooling Loads window, where if you opened it from the Default Room Data window it would not save your data.

  6. Added a Notes input to the bottom right corner of the Room Data window. Clicking the dropdown help button opens a new Room Notes window where you can save formatted text and/or graphics for each room.

  8. Fixed a bug on the toolbar on the Room Data window, where the "Insert Only Default Room Data" was not being enabled for all of the inputs that can copy data from the Default Room Data window.

  9. Fixed a bug where several windows did not have cut, copy and paste functionality, including the Room Data and System Data windows.

  10. Fixed a bug in the Equipment Cooling Loads part of the Detailed Room Loads reports, where if the project was metric the latent load shown for individual items was in Btuh rather than watts.

  11. Fixed a bug in the Equipment Cooling Loads part of the Detailed Room Loads reports, where if you changed a room's sensible or latent equipment load by typing it into the inputs on the Room Data window itself after having entered one or more specific items of equipment on the Equipment Cooling Loads window, the "Miscellaneous Equipment" row on the report would still have the old values.

  12. Fixed a bug where the F5 and F6 functions ("Copy Above or Default and Room Dimension" and "Insert Only Default Room Data") on the Room Data window did not always work for Doors.

2/25/2011 9.01.5

  2. Replaced the dropdown help for the sensible and latent equipment inputs on the Room Data window with a new popup window named, "Equipment Cooling Loads." This new window lets you enter multiple items that contribute the the sensible and latent equipment loads of the room, including diversity factors. The dropdown help for each item has a list that includes items from Manual J's Table 6B.

  3. Fixed a bug where if the current project had no rooms and you clicked "Evaluate Project" the Evalaution of Project window would include an error that said, "Subscript out of range."

  1. Fixed a bug on the Room Data window, where pressing F5 to copy the above component for floors and doors did not work.

  2. Fixed a problem on the ACCA Design Review Form report where it was possible for the default value for the number of bedrooms to not include some bedroom names. Now any room containing "bed" will be counted as a bedroom. If the count is wrong you can always override the default by filling in the Override column on the "ACCA Design Review Form Data" window.

  3. Fixed bugs on the ACCA Design Review Form report where the default values for the cooling equipment's sensible capacity, latent capacity and total capacity were coming from the wrong fields.

  4. Fixed a bug on Drawing Board, where if a Room object's Floor Material (Instrinsic) property was blank and you had drawn a Floor object in the room, the U-value and other properties of the Floor object would get set to zero or blank. Fixed the same problem for roofs.

  5. Added the ability to set the surface area for a scenario on the Duct Load Factors dialog to that of ducts entered on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window.

  6. Added duct surface area and duct load factor scenario columns to those available on the duct grid on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window.

  7. Fixed a bug on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window where if you were editing a duct or fitting property in the center or right grid, and the edit box was still visible, and you then clicked a different duct on the duct grid your new property value would get saved to the new duct instead of the one selected previously.

  8. Made it so only a few of the columns are shown by default on the duct grid on the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window. Click the Tree Layout button to see more columns.

  9. Made it so the edit box is visible and on the Contractor input upon first opening the ACCA Design Review Form Data window.

  10. Made it so when you click any column on a row on the ACCA Design Review Form Data window the edit box is shown in whichever column is editable for that row.

2/9/2011 9.00.72 (Beta 3, First Public Beta)

  1. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board, where a skylight could generate an inappropriate warning saying that the ground reflectance entered for the glass was too low.

  2. Made it so descriptions of materials used in the project are saved in the project file itself, which makes it so when you open a project that someone else entered that has custom materials that are not in your custom material list the descriptions of those custom materials will be shown on the reports.

  3. Made it so the first supply arrow node is selected upon first opening the Tabular Manual D Ductsize window.

See the Readme file for the private beta history before this point.
