ECOORD - Update 2.02

ECOORD version 2.02 is now available. This program was previously named COORD for versions 1.2 and older. This is a major update that contains many new enhancements. The update costs $99 for people using ECOORD 1.5 or higher and $149 for people using version 1.4 and earlier. A new manual is supplied. The new user price of ECOORD is $995. Listed below are all the new features of ECOORD 2.02.

1. Device Settings: Early versions of ECOORD did not provide switch settings for any protection device. This made the use of electronic circuit breakers (ECB) particularly difficult because the user was responsible for creating a unique time-amp curve for each setting combination. Since ECB's typically provide thousands of possible settings, this was a tedious job.

ECOORD 2.02 now allows you to enter standard performance data for a device so that the program can then automatically adjust the time-amp curves according to changes in switch settings. For an ECB, the base time-amp curve can be adjusted by entering an instant pickup, a long and short time pickup and a long and short time delay. By entering different values for these settings, nearly infinite adjustments can be automatically made to the time-amp curves.

Other devices such as an overload relay allow a time dial setting, current transformer tap setting, and instantaneous pickup. In fact, all devices, even a standard fuse now has device settings. For example, ECOORD now allows you to change the trip rating for a fuse independent, but compatible with it's cartridge rating. The same situation applies for circuit breakers and frames. As such, fuses and non-adjustable circuit breakers are now maintained as separate device types. Settings for all devices has greatly expanded the versatility of ECOORD as time-amp curves can quickly be generated for many conditions.

2. More Curves: Early versions of ECOORD stored all time-amp curves into one file called COORD.LIB. ECOORD now has separate manufacturer files that contain time- amp curves for the devices made by each manufacturer. For example, there is a file called GOULD.LIB that contains only device curves for Gould Shawmut. Likewise there are files for other manufacturers including GE, Bussmann, Siemens, Westinghouse, and others. Each manufacturer file can contain up to 1,000 devices. There are also special files for cable and transformer damage curves and motor starting curves.

Presently, ECOORD is supplied with 648 devices divided up over nine device and manufacturer files. However, since device settings allow for the display of numerous curves per device, ECOORD 2.02 can display thousands more curves than earlier versions. Numerous manufacturers such as Gould, Siemens, and others are directly cooperating with Elite Software to create device files with the most current data. Call for more details concerning who to contact with each manufacturer for file updates.

If you have curve data still in the COORD.LIB file format that you would like to convert to the new individual manufacturer file format, please call Elite Software for details on how to do this. ECOORD still allows you to modify, add and delete device curves in the manufacturer files. Add some new devices and trade them with Elite for some more!

3. Fuse and Circuit Breaker Ranges: The use of device settings has now provided the ability to define a single model number that can cover a family of fuses or circuit breakers. For example, defining a fuse model with a certain cartridge size allows the fuse to be specified with a trip rating within the allowed range of the cartridge. Similarly, a circuit breaker can be specified with a frame size that allows multiple trip ratings for that circuit breaker. Previous versions of ECOORD required that every trip setting possible for a given fuse to be entered as a separate fuse model. The ability to set a variable trip rating per fuse and circuit breaker drastically reduces the number of fuse and circuit breaker models needed to cover all allowable trip ratings.

4. Fuse Enhancements: ECOORD 2.02 now allows you to analyze fuse coordination using both the minimum melt and total clearing time-amp curves for fuses. This is essential for performing an I2T analysis as described below. ECOORD can still display average time-amp fuse curves as well.

5. I2T Calculations: ECOORD 2.02 now compares the melting and clearing I2T value of every device in a drawing against one another. This is an important aspect of selective coordination that is often overlooked as it cannot be visually seen in the standard time-amp curve drawings. ECOORD informs you whenever the calculated I2T value of any device overlaps with that of another device. When this happens, ECOORD prints the I2T value for every device on the drawing.

6. New Transformer Damage Curves: ECOORD 2.02 can now generate damage curves for Class I-IV transformers. Curves are adjusted for voltage, KVA rating, inrush factor, %Z, and whether Wye or Delta connections are used. Additionally, ECOORD can display the ANSI and/or inrush points.

7. New Cable Damage Curves: Previous versions of ECOORD only allowed cable damage curves to be entered as special devices and no inputs controlling cable damage were allowed. ECOORD 2.02 now specifically provides a cable damage curve device category. Cable curves are based on conductor material (copper or aluminum), cable size, conductors per phase, and insulation type. The device setting screen also shows the MCM cross sectional area for each cable size selected.

8. New Motor Starting Curves: ECOORD can now display motor starting curves. These curves are affected by starter type (displays the inrush percent based on starter type), start up time in seconds, motor full load amps, FVNR, inrush multiplier, wye/delta connections, part winding, series/parallel, resistor/reactor, autotransformer, and voltage tap if applicable.

9. Voltage Adjustment: ECOORD now allows you to decide whether you want adjustments made to the time-amp curve of a device adjusted for voltage. Usually, no such adjustment is necessary. But in some situations where transformers are involved, it may be appropriate to adjust a device's time-amp curve for voltage. If you select to adjust for voltage, ECOORD will show the voltage ratio used for adjustment.

10. New Zoom Feature: A new zoom feature has been added so that is is easy to view enlarged selected portions of the coordination drawing. A crosshairs style cursor is used to specify the zoomed window.

11. Improved Curve Labels: The previous version of ECOORD only allowed the leader arrow of a curve label to point to the right. Now label arrows can be made to point left and right as desired. This makes it easier to create the most attractive coordination drawing possible.

12. More Graph Tic Marks: Additional tic marks have been added to the x and y axis of the log-log graph showing the time-amp curves. This makes it easier to measure the actual time and amp values.

13. Duplicate Colors and Hatch Patterns: The previous version of ECOORD only allowed one use of any color and hatch pattern for time-amp curves. This was done so no curve could have the same color as another curve. ECOORD now allows duplicated hatch patterns and colors. This helps when you want to, say, use red for all fuses and blue for all circuit breakers.

14. New Separate Pen Colors for Grid and Text: The pen colors for the grid and text can now be specifically assigned and therefore do not ever have to be the same color as one of the time-amp curves.

15. New Hot Keys: Pressing the Alt key and a number will now quickly jump the cursor to the device of your choice on the curve selection screen. Likewise five hot keys have been added to the report selection screen.

16. New PopUp Calculator: Pressing the Alt-C key "pops up" a calculator on any non- graphic screen of the program.

17. Automatic Project File Update: ECOORD 2.02 can read and automatically update project files created from any earlier version of ECOORD (even project files created with COORD 1.0).
