Chvac Version 8 Recent Update History

Version 7.01.169 [7/25/2012]

  1. Changed the way the CFM Per Runout inputs on the Air Handler Data and Zone Data windows are handled in the calculations, so that the value entered serves as a maximum CFM per runout rather than a target average CFM per runout.

  2. Fixed a bug in the Export Results to gbXML File feature, where Results nodes for "Space Heating Total Load" and "Space Cooling Total Load" did not include the effect of any safety factors you might have entered.

  3. Fixed a small problem on the Project Explorer window, where the vertical splitter bar in the middle would not remember its position if it had previously been positioned very far to the right.

  4. Fixed a problem with some of the inputs on some multi-row inputs, such as the roofs, walls and glass on the Zone Data window, where if you opened a project that had been previously edited on a system using a different decimal place than that of your current system, then some values could be changed from what they had been before.

  5. Fixed a problem on the Zone Data window where if you had a wall entered as a door and its reference wall (as indicated by the text in the Direction input being "D" followed by the wall's number) happened to be a partition wall, the program might incorrectly mark the door as being invalid.

  6. Fixed a problem in a few places in some of the reports when using a language other than English, where instead of the text saying "Yes" or "No" it would use the words of the current language.

  7. Fixed a bug that could happen on the built-in duct sizing for zone runouts and air handler main trunks, where if you had the "Use Schedule" input set to "Yes" it would not always use diameters or widths from the schedule.

Version 7.01.168 [1/13/2012]

  1. Made a small adjustment to the calculation of roof, wall and glass loads for plenums to account for the indoor temperature inside the plenum being lower or higher than that of the zones.

Version 7.01.167 [12/1/2011]

  1. Fixed a bug that could happen under relatively rare circumstances, where if you were doing cooling with ventilation only (where you enter 100% of supply for the cooling ventilation and you enter the outdoor dry bulb temperature as the leaving cooling coil temperature), and the outdoor air moisture was within a certain range, the calculations could unnecessarily reduce your leaving cooling coil temperature several degrees below what you asked for.

  2. Corrected the country for Ljubljana to Slovenia. It had been Slovak Republic.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Zone object in drawing board, where the indoor design dry bulb and relative humidity properties did not have dropdown help available for them.

Version 7.01.165 [10/25/2011]

  1. Made it so no error is generated when you have a zero ground reflectance for a partition wall.

  2. Added a warning whenever both heat recovery ventilator and pretreated air have been specified for an air handler.

  3. Increased the number of master roofs, walls and partitions per project from 20 to 100. Increased the number of master glass from 50 to 100.

Version 7.01.163 [6/21/2011]

  1. Fixed a bug on the "Organize Custom [Favorite or Recent] Roof [Wall] - RTS" dialogs, where the list did not contain any items. This bug happened only with the RTS versions of these dialogs, not the CLTD versions.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you saved the project while the Drawing Board window was open a "Select Data Source" dialog could open repeatedly, making you have to click Cancel 4 times to be able to proceed.

Version 7.01.162 [5/31/2011]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Air Handler Summary Loads report for air handlers with an active return air plenum, where the line showing the plenum sensible gain was showing the plenum's gain at the air handler's peak time, rather than at the plenum's peak time.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Zone Data window, where if you had entered a value for the zone length or width that had any numbers past the decimal point, and you had a roof entered in roof 1 in that zone, and you then changed the zone dimensions, the feature that makes the roof dimensions update to match the new zone dimensions would round off your zone length or width for the roof length or width instead of simply reproducing the value you entered.

  3. Removed the spaces around the backslash when writing the eQUEST file for its "Weather File" input.

  4. Made it so the Drawing Board drawing data file is no longer compressed, due to rare problems related to compression.

Version 7.01.158 [11/19/2010]

  1. Added a paragraph to the dropdown help of the Tilt input for glass on the Zone Data window to explain that for a non-horizontal skylight you need to first set the tilt to 180 to trigger the program to know that the glass is a skylight, and then set it to the actual tilt.

  2. Made it so if a window or skylight in a gbXML file being imported has an inappropriate value assigned to its Tilt node, the tilt is changed to an appropriate value in the Chvac project.

Version 7.01.157 [5/10/2010]

  1. Fixed a bug in the display of the Project Explorer window under certain circumstances. If a child window other than the Project Explorer were maximized and then you closed that child window, returning to the maximized Project Explorer window, the top few pixels of the window would be hidden underneath its toolbar.

  2. Fixed a bug that would happen when a door was drawn in a partition wall in Drawing Board, where the area of the door was being subtracted from the area of the parent partition wall twice.

  3. Fixed a bug on the ventilation and infiltration inputs on the Zone Data window, where if you saved the project while that window was open the Value inputs would no longer be grayed out for ones where the Method input said "Default."

  4. Fixed a minor problem on the Air Handler Total Load Summary report where we were printing the informational note about diversity in zone, plenum and ventilation loads affecting the calculation of system CFM even if the system type were Constant Volume - Sum of Peaks. The note applies to the other system type options, but not to that one. This report problem did not affect any actual calculations; the report was just including that note at an inappropriate time.

  5. Made a small adjustment to the calculations, where certain values such as indoor design temperatures and pretreated air temperatrures that were being rounded are now not being rounded.

  6. Added a new "Export eQUEST Project File" feature that replaces the old export to PowerDOE feature (which created a file that could also be imported into eQUEST, but it had a lot of limitations). The new feature creates a folder for the new project, then it creates files with extensions PD2 and INP. The PD2 file is the one you open in eQUEST, but then it reads most of the project's data from the INP file.

Version 7.01.156 [4/29/2010]

  1. Added properties to the Zone object in Drawing Board for indoor design conditions. These include summer indoor dry bulb and relative humidity, and winter indoor dry bulb.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Zone object in Drawing Board, where the "Percent Radiant Lighting" and "Percent Radiant Equipment" properties were not available.

  3. Added text to the dropdown help for the Do Heat Recovery inputs on the Air Handler Data window to make it clear that you must enter both ventilation and exhaust in order for the HRV inputs to have any effect.

  4. Added error messages to the Evaluation of Project window and the Error Notification window when either of the Do Heat Recovery inputs for an air handler have been set to Yes, but there is no ventilation specified or no exhaust specified.

  5. Fixed a problem in the dropdown help for the checkboxes for the load profile reports and the load profile graphs on the Properties of Print Preview dialog, where the text still refered to the old option about using "fast peak determination," which was removed from the program some time ago.

  6. Fixed a bug that developed recently, where the zone supply airflow was sometimes not being saved in the project file, which made it so a Ductsize project linked to a Chvac project sometimes did not have the airflow data available.

  7. Added a dialog that appears during startup if the screen's current DPI setting is non-standard. The dialog informs you that some elements of the program may not display properly.

Version 7.01.154 [4/16/2010]

  1. Replaced the Print dialog that opens when you click Print All or Print Current Page on the Print Preview window. The new Print dialog includes a separate Print Setup button that lets you change the current printer or its settings before printing to the printer. With the old Print dialog it was possible to generate the print preview using one printer, then change to a different printer on the Print dialog before printing, potentially causing problems with the printout. The new Print dialog lets you apply any changes to the current print preview before actually printing it, ensuring that the printout matches what you see in the Print Preview window.

  2. Fixed a bug on the dropdown help windows that have a list, where they did not work properly when the mouse buttons were reversed or when the ClickLock feature of the mouse was turned on.

  3. Fixed a bug where it was possible under certain circumstances for zones drawn on the Drawing Board window to not be read by the calculations, which would make the reports show all zero calculation results.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Wall object in Drawing Board, where the read-only Area property showed zero unless the Wall Height property had a non-zero value, even if a default wall height had been entered on the General Project Data window.

Version 7.01.153 [3/26/2010]

  1. Fixed a bug where the Print Setup for Drawing feature sometimes did not save the print setup data for the drawing in the proper location, so that the settings did not take effect.

Version 7.01.152 [3/26/2010]

  1. Added a Description input for each operating profile.

  2. Fixed a bug that could make it possible for drawing data to be lost under the following circumstances: The project is a Drawing Board project and the drawing data is saved within the project file, and you are opening multiple instances of Chvac simultaneously on the same computer. Now the temporary data files that hold each instance's drawing data each have a filename that is unique to that instance of the program.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed recently on the Skylight object in Drawing Board, where it would become misshapen after moving it.

  4. Took measures to ensure that certain DLL and OCX files being installed are properly registered even when setup does not need to overwrite the existing file.

  5. Made it so the main window opens at full screen size the first time the program is opened after a first time installation.

Version 7.01.140 [3/1/2010]

  1. Fixed a minor problem where during startup the program would always perform an update on the database file that contains the custom materials, even if no update was needed.

  2. Fixed a bug on dialogs such as the "Select Roof - CLTD Method" dialog that open when you click the button to the left of each of the master data rows of inputs for all material types, where it was possible to enter more than 255 characters for the description, and if you did the program would not save your text, since that would exceed the 255 character limit in that database field. Those description inputs now will not let you enter more than 255 characters.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you used the "Glass Width" or "Door Width" property to resize a window or door, the width could later revert back to its previous value upon resizing the room or wall.

  4. Fixed a bug on the New Project dialog, where if you selected to copy a project or template that was in Drawing Board mode and that saved the drawing data in a separate DBP file, a message box would open saying that the file was saved in a previous version. Then if you clicked OK on that message box the new project would be blank.

  5. Fixed a bug that would happen on systems where Chvac was installed in the new way, where when you clicked on the dropdown help button beside the Absorptance, h (Outside), or Emittance inputs for master roofs or walls the program would lock up.

  6. Changed the handling of zero longitude and zero local standard meridian input values when the cooling calculation method is RTS, so that if either one is zero the Evaluation of Project window and the Error Notification window only display a warning to make sure the values are right for your design city. Formerly, the program would default them to -90.

  7. Added a warning to the Evaluation of Project window and the Error Notification window when the cooling calculation method is RTS and when the longitude is above zero and the local standard meridian is below zero, or vice-versa.

  8. Added lines showing pretreated gains and losses to the Air Handler Total Load Summary report, when applicable. This change makes it so for a project with multiple systems you can see the pretreated air load for each one.

Version 7.01.138 [1/20/2010]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Project Explorer window, where if you clicked the "Browse for Projects Folder" button in that window's toolbar and then clicked Cancel on the Browse for Folder dialog, the Project Explorer folder would be set to the root of the current drive.

  2. Fixed a bug that started in a recent version that could happen if you started a new project by copying template that was not created in a recent version, where the new project file would not get converted to the new format, causing the program to encounter errors when you evaluated or tried to calculate results.

Version 7.01.137 [1/19/2010]

  1. Fixed a problem where if you opened the program by double clicking on a project file, and there happened to exist a TMP file associated with that project from the previous time it had been opened, the mousepointer would remain an hourglass (still clickable) while the Temporary File Detected dialog was being displayed.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you had installed only Chvac and not Rhvac nor Ductsize, and your first installation of Chvac was done within the past couple of months, when you dragged and dropped an object from the Catalog Browser in Drawing Board the program could lock up.

Version 7.01.135 [1/4/2010]

  1. Fixed a bug that would happen on some computers, where using the program's taskbar to switch back to the open Zone Data window could cause the program to crash.

Version 7.01.134 [1/4/2010]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous version, where after clicking Save Project As to save a project as a different filename, open project windows such as the Zone Data window did not work properly.

Version 7.01.133 [12/31/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where after clicking Save Project As the toolbar and menu items were not enabled properly for there being a project currently open.

  2. Fixed bugs that developed in a recent version, where if the Drawing Board window was open and you opened a different project that also had a drawing the new drawing was not loaded.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where if a drawing was saved externally as a DBP file and you clicked Save Project As to save it as a different filename, the new DBP file would get created but the DBP file associated with the new project filename would be the old DBP file.

  4. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where if both the Drawing Board window and other project windows were open and you changed something on one of the project windows then opened a different project, the new project's data would not get loaded into the project windows.

  5. Fixed a bug where making a change on the drawing did not necessarily mark the project as needing to be saved.

  6. Fixed a bug in the importing of gbXML projects, where if the units for temperature near the beginning of the gbXML file indicated one type of units (English or metric), but the U-values for materials in the file were given the other type of units, the U-values assigned to the Chvac project would not be right.

  7. Made it so when you save a project with the Save Project As dialog it automatically deletes the appropriate ".open" file, if it happens to exist, and replaces it with a new one.

  8. Fixed a problem in the setup where if the program had last been installed from CD but was being updated from the web, it was possible for the Readme file to not get updated.

  9. Added a Troubleshooting menu under the Print Setup menu, which includes functions for clearing the print setup data for reports and for the drawing. Clearing this data can fix certain problems involving printing, as well as certain problems involving opening the Drawing Board window.

Version 7.01.129 [12/10/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in a recent version, where dragging an object from the Catalog Browser onto the Drawing Board drawing caused the program to lock up.

  2. On 12/20/2009 fixed a problem in the setup, where if you installed only one Elite program and it was your first Elite program installed on your computer, and then you uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it, the reinstall could fail due to certain folder locations not being initialized.

  3. On 12/22/2009 fixed a couple of problems that could occur on at least some versions of Windows before Windows 2000, if this were the first Elite program to be installed. One is that the Elite Software data folder for all users would not get properly initialized during setup. Another is that the local temp data folder for the current user would not get properly initialized.

  4. On 12/28/2009 made a change in the way the setup sets the permissions on the Elite Software Data folder when installed in the new, Vista-compatible way.

Version 7.01.128 [12/10/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where if you used the New Project dialog to start a new project the program would end with a fatal error and a message box that said, "Run-time Error 3343 Unrecognized database format...."

Version 7.01.121 [12/8/2009]

  1. For metric units projects, made a slight correction to the calculation of enthalpy in the component that generates the psychrometric chart report.

Version 7.01.119 [11/20/2009] (Test Version)

  1. Made changes regarding compatibility with Vista and later versions of Windows.

  2. Made several improvements regarding opening and saving project files. The temporary file (extension TMP) is now stored in the user's local application data folder instead of in the same folder as the project file, which improves the performance of the program when working with a project file from a folder on a server or other computer. It also makes it so project files can be opened from read-only media, such as a CD or a folder for which the user has read-only access. Another new feature is that when a project file is open by one user, any other instance of the program opened by another user can know that the file is currently in use by another user.

  3. Fixed a bug that could happen on Windows Vista or Windows 7, where double clicking a project file when the program was not open yet would open the program but not open the project file that was double clicked.

Version 7.01.108 [9/3/2009]

  1. Added some text to the dropdown help of the Heat Recovery SER inputs on the Air Handler Data window to make it more clear that you have to enter exhaust in at least one zone in the air handler in order for the HRV inputs to have any effect.

  2. Fixed a bug when the regional and language settings of the operating system were set to use a comma as the decimal symbol, where the dropdown help list for the Absorptance, h (Outside) and Emittance inputs would have the wrong numbers in the columns (the comma characters were omitted).

  3. Fixed a bug in the RTS calculations for non-horizontal skylights in sloped roofs, where the direction that the skylight faces was being assigned from the current zone's wall number that matched the skylight's reference number input. For example, if a skylight was in roof number 2 the direction assigned to the skylight in the calculations was the direction of wall 2.

  4. Added text to the dropdown help for the glass tilt input to make it clear how to enter non-horizontal skylights and non-vertical windows.

Version 7.01.106 [6/4/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug where it was possible under rare circumstances for the angle of the sun to be calculated to be zero (at the horizon) for some hours in some months, which would cause an error that would make the reports show all zero cooling loads for the entire building.

Version 7.01.105 [5/7/2009]

  1. Made it so negative sensible gains are included when finding the air system peak time for an air handler. Formerly the program would ignore any negative sensible gains when determining the peak time, so for a system where the sensible gain was never above zero the actual peak hour and month would not be found, and reports would simply show results for the final open hour of the final active cooling month. This change affects some projects that use ventilation-only cooling.

Version 7.01.104 [3/18/2009]

  1. Fixed a problem where the two most recently added options in the General list on the Miscellaneous tab of the Properties of Print Preview window were defaulting to being checked when they should have defaulted to being unchecked. These options are listed as "Include zone notes on Zone Detailed Loads report" and "New page for each zone on Zone Detailed Loads."

  2. Fixed a bug on Drawing Board where the Area property of Wall objects was not always being refreshed. If you moved one wall of a zone so that it resized another wall in that zone the Area property of the resized wall would not immediately refresh. This bug only affected the display of this one property; it did not affect any calculations.

  3. Fixed a bug where under certain circumstances it was possible for psychrometric adjustments made for one cooling month could affect the calculations for another cooling month. The effects included calculating an incorrect peak time and month or decreasing the leaving cooling coil temperature when it was not necessary to do so for that month. One circumstance that could cause the problem was entering an unusually low outdoor dry bulb temperature for one of your cooling months.

  4. Fixed a bug where the "Paste Glass" feature in Drawing Board was not working.

Version 7.01.96 [1/28/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug where if the Air Handler Data window was open and you then opened a different project that had different units than the first project, the dropdown help values for the heating airflow per person and airflow per area inputs would remain those that go with the first project's units.

  2. Changed the values in the dropdown help for the airflow per person and airflow per area inputs to be those of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2004 instead of the 1989 standard 62 values.

  3. Added a new option on the Miscellaneous tab of the Properties of Print Preview window that says, "New page for each zone on Zone Detailed Loads." Checking this box makes it so each zone in the Zone Detailed Loads report is printed on a separate page.

  4. On the Zone Detailed Loads report (when the new option described above is not turned on), made it so the header describing each column is always shown at the top of the page. Before this update if a new page naturally occurred at the beginning of the next zone section only the header for that zone was printed at the top of the new page. Now if that situation occurs both headers are printed at the top.

  5. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the Define Master Roof [Wall, etc.] dialog to inadvertently become hidden behind the main window under certain circumstances instead of always floating on top of the program.

  6. Added the ability to enter a wall as a door that references another wall. Enter "D" followed by the number of a wall to designate any wall as a door that is within another wall, such as "D2" for a door that is within wall 2. During calculations the door's area will automatically be subtracted from the net area of the parent wall.

  7. Fixed a bug on the wall direction section at the bottom of the Building Envelope Report, where the row for the north direction included the areas for partition walls and windows within partition walls.

  8. Fixed a problem that started with one of the recent updates, where the custom master materials database did not include any example materials. This problem made it so the list on the Custom tab would be blank for first time installations or for update installations in which you checked the box during setup to overwrite the custom materials file.

Version 7.01.95 [1/13/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug with the new feature that automatically copies an Elite Software license file upon double clicking it.

  2. Made it so if there is an HRV specified for cooling for an air handler, the PsyChart program is able to include the temperature drop of the outside air due to the HRV equipment when you import that air handler to PsyChart's Air Handler Model window.

  3. Fixed a bug where if the process line and point representing the HRV was not psychrometrically able to be added to the Psychrometric Chart report, the error message shown on that report mistakenly said that the outside air condition point could not be created. Now if there is an error the message explains that it is the HRV point that caused the problem.

Version 7.01.94 [1/4/2009]

  1. Fixed an obscure bug that could happen under the following circumstances (all of these had to be true): the zones were entered with Drawing Board, the project was started prior to 7.01.84, the drawing was last opened in version 7.01.84 through 7.01.93, any zones on the drawing had their Heating Ventilation Option or Cooling Ventilation Option property set to "Direct," and that property had been set to that value in a version of Chvac prior to 7.01.84. The bug was that the property would get set to an invalid value, making it so any such zones would not contribute anything to the ventilation for the air handler. Any such projects opened in today's version or later are automatically corrected.

Version 7.01.92 [1/9/2009] (Test Version)

  1. Added several things to the exported gbXML file for the HVAC Solution program to be able to import. These new entries are only included in this test version for now.

  2. Made it so after you run the setup if you double click on an Elite Software license file it will be copied automatically to the appropriate program folder.

Version 7.01.91 [1/4/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you used the Convert Project Units feature on a project with indoor temperatures entered for any zones (the new feature added in the previous update), the temperatures for those zones would not get converted.

  2. Made it so the Project Explorer refreshes itself automatically on more kinds of changes. New kinds of changes that are now generating the automatic refresh include: Zone name change, Zone occurrences change, Air handler name change, Air handler occurrences change, Plenum active status change, Zone system change, Zone group change.

  3. Added individual wall widths and heights to the exported INP file that gets created when you click "File | Export | eQUEST/PowerDOE File."

Version 7.01.90 [12/30/2008]

  1. Added the ability to enter indoor conditions at the zone level. The Zone Data window now has a new Indoor Conditions tab on which you can enter SIDB, SIRH and WIDB if they are different from those values entered for the air handler.

  2. Added a line showing the system indoor conditions on the Air Handler Total Load Summary report.

Version 7.01.86 [12/24/2008]

  1. Removed some proposed entries from the exported gbXML file that had been inadvertently left in yesterday's update.

Version 7.01.85 [12/23/2008]

  1. Fixed a bug in the gbXML import where it was possible for a window in a wall to be assigned a tilt of 180 degrees instead of 90.

  2. Fixed a bug in the gbXML import where a flat roof would be imported as having a direction of "0" (zero, or north) rather than "UP."

  3. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous update, where if you selected "Direct" for the winter or summer infiltration method on the Miscellaneous tab of the Zone Data window, the Evaluation of Project window would report an error saying that the infiltration method option you selected was too high.

Version 7.01.84 [12/8/2008]

  1. Increased the width of some of the controls on the Air Handler Data window to prevent the text from wrapping when the screen font size is large.

  2. On the "Venetian Blinds or Roller Shades" tab of the "Glass Attenuation Coefficient - RTS Method" dialog, corrected the text in the "Shading Device" column for three of the rows. Those items had said, "opaque white" just like the lines immediatly above them instead of saying, "translucent white."

  3. Added an option for ventilation to be entered as CFM per person plus CFM per square foot. When you select this option the Value input on the Air Handler Data and Zone Data windows now accepts the CFM per person value, while a new Value input accepts your CFM per square foot value. There is also a new "Heating Ventilation Value 2" property for the Zone object in Drawing Board.

  4. Fixed a problem where pressing F1 while on the Miscellaneous tab of the Zone Data window opened the Chvac Help window to the Welcome topic instead of to the topic for the current input.

Version 7.01.78 [11/23/2008]

  1. Added a column for the number of air handler occurrences to the dropdown help for the system number input on the Zone Data window.

  2. Fixed a problem where if you were entering your zones with Drawing Board and the product (length times width) of the zone or roof was greater than 10,000 ft. (or meters) the Evaluation of Project window would give you an error saying that the length or width was too high.

  3. Fixed a bug where the sensible gain due to the return duct was using the full supply air in the formula instead of just the quantity of air flowing through the return ductwork.

  4. Fixed a bug where the Paste Glass function in Drawing Board did not work.

  5. On the "Export Results to gbXML File" dialog, made it so you can change the location or filename of the gbXML import filename in case you have moved or renamed the file since importing it.

  6. Fixed a problem where if the outdoor condition point for an air handler's peak time was unusually warm and moist the Psychrometric Chart report would not be able to generate all of the points and processes needed, and an error would be reported on the chart saying that the data was out of range.

  7. Increased the maximum leaving cooling coil temperature from 100 to 200 degrees. This change makes it so for ventilation cooling-only situations where no mechanical cooling will be done the program can handle very hot climates with outdoor temperatures above 100 degrees.

  8. Fixed a bug on the Zone Data window, where changing the System Number input could cause a fatal error if that window had been open for a fairly long time.

  9. Fixed a bug where certain gbXML files exported from CAD programs (from Revit MEP 2009, for example), had to be modified manually before Chvac would allow them to be imported.

  10. Fixed a problem where the special categories for the Zone object in Drawing Board were not fully defined and were not being used.

  11. Increased the maximum number of walls and glass items allowed in a zone from 30 to 100 each. Increased the number of roofs allowed per zone from 12 to 100.

  12. When importing a gbXML file, made it so if there are identical windows within a wall the Occurrences field is increased to account for all of them.

  13. Modified the gbXML importing code so that surfaces of type "RaisedFloor" can be imported as partitions. They have their Include property set to False by default.

  14. Modified the error string shown by "gbXML Import Errors" window when the potential number of walls might exceed Chvac's maximum. The text now tells you how many walls have initially been set to be included for importing. Also added error text if the number of roofs in a space might exceed Chvac's allowed maximum per zone.

  15. Fixed a bug in the gbXML import where the people sensible and latent gain for a space (Chvac zone) were not both being imported, and were it was possible for the total people heat gain to be imported as if it were the sensible.

  16. Made it so the Notes input on the Zone Data window can accept formatted text and/or graphics that you copy and paste from another program such as Microsoft Word or Excel.

  17. Added an option on the Miscellaneous tab of the Properties of Print Preview window that lets you choose whether or not to show zone notes on the Zone Detailed Loads report.

  18. Moved the zone notes, when present, shown on the Zone Detailed Loads report from the start of text for the zone to the end of it.

Version 7.01.71 [11/26/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Air Handler Data window, where the Heat Recovery SER input for winter was read-only.

  2. Added a point for the summer heat recovery ventilator condition, when applicable, to the psychrometric chart report. The new point is labeled, "HRV."

Version 7.01.69 [11/18/2007]

  1. Made more changes and corrections to the gbXML import and export.

  2. Fixed a problem where the Project Explorer window did not remember its previous size upon reopening.

  3. Fixed a bug where progress indicator in the statusbar did not clear itself after exporting a gbXML file.

Version 7.01.66 [11/15/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug in the gbXML feature, where surfaces of type "Ceiling" would not get imported into the gbXML file even though they showed up in the tree outline.

  2. Added a Find button to the "Set gbXML Import Options" page of the new dialog for importing a gbXML file.

  3. Made it so surfaces of type UndergroundWall can be imported from a gbXML file. They are imported as partitions.

  4. Added progress bar display to the bottom of the main window during gbXML import operations.

  5. Made it so after you select a gbXML filename on the new dialog for importing a gbXML file, if there are any errors or potential problems with the import a new "gbXML Import Errors" window will pop up listing the errors. You can double click on an error description in the list to highlight the appropriate node in the tree on the "Set gbXML Import Options" page of the import dialog. Also added an "Errors" button to that page of the dialog so you can reopen the error dialog if you happen to close it and need to look at it again. Error situations currently include having a space with more walls than are allowed in a single Chvac zone, and having a space with more windows and skylights than are allowed in a Chvac zone.

  6. Fixed a bug in the Update Manager program, where if you clicked the menu "Help | Check for Update" from this program and there was no Internet connection, the Update Manager program would say that this program is up to date.

Version 7.01.64 [11/2/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug in the newly added gbXML feature, where if the project file's Units setting was not the same as the gbXML file's setting for units for that file's results entries, the values for calculated load and airflow exported to the gbXML file were incorrect.

Version 7.01.63 [10/31/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug that could happen upon opening a project, where if the program saw that the number indexes in the zone records needed correction (a rare problem), the program would renumber the zones in the reverse of their original order.

  2. Fixed a problem where it was possible for the filename part of the footer on the reports to be so long that it overlapped the date and time part of the footer.

  3. Added the ability to enter heat recovery ventilator (HRV) data in order to reduce ventilation loads for heating and cooling. The new inputs are at the bottom right of the Misc tab of the Air Handler Data window. Added a new section to the Psychrometric Analysis report whenever HRV data has been entered, which shows the leaving HRV temperature and the number of degrees of improvement from the temperature of the outside air.

  4. Fixed a bug on the System Total Load Summary report when the project is in metric units, where the units for the amount of moisture in the air said, "grains" when it should have said grams of moisture per kg of dry air.

  5. Added the ability to import and export gbXML files. The new menu items are: "File | New Project from gbXML File," "File | Import | From gbXML File," and "File | Export | To gbXML File."

  6. Fixed a bug in the "Convert Project Units" feature, where the zone exhaust for the winter was staying at its original value instead of being converted.

  7. Made it so the self-extracting EXE file that can be downloaded from our website, ch7setup.exe, runs as Administrator by default on Windows Vista.

  8. Removed the "Use fast peak determination" checkbox from the General section of the Miscellaneous tab of the Properties of Print Preview window. The program now always performs the full air system calculation in order to determine the peak system time. This change eliminates a problem where, under rare circumstances, the program could fail to find the peak time for the system and would simply use the final available month and time of day. It also eliminates potential user confusion about why the Load Profile graphs or reports would be incomplete when generating reports with the "Use fast peak determination" checkbox checked.

Version 7.01.55 [6/27/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in version 7.01.54, where many of the dropdown help lists were blank.

Version 7.01.54 [6/26/2007]

  1. Expanded the text in the dropdown help for the Units input on the General Project Data window to make it clear that changing that option does not change your input values to the other units, it only changes the way the program interprets the values you have entered. It explains that you must click the menu, "File | Convert Project Units" if you want to convert a project from one set of units to the other.

  2. Fixed a bug in the Skylight object on Drawing Board, where the area of the skylight was being subtracted from the first wall's area instead of that of the roof.

Version 7.01.52 [4/6/2007]

  1. Added the ability to set the Reference input for a glass to a partition wall.

  2. Added an error message for when you have 1 entered in the Internal Shading input for a master glass and the "Internal Shading Coefficient" input is set to zero. Also made it so the error displayed for having a zero entered in the Shading Coefficient input is only shown if you have a 2, 3 or 4 entered for the Internal Shading input.

  3. Fixed a bug that developed in the previous version, where the conversion of certain roof, wall and glass zone data was not being converted during the "Convert Project Units" feature.

  4. Fixed a bug that would occur when you selected equipment for an air handler on the Find HVAC Equipment window when the project was set to metric units, where the capacities were not being converted to kW.

  5. Added text to the dropdown help of the capacity inputs on the Equipment tab of the Air Handler Data window to indicate the proper units that the inputs hold (MBH for English projects, and kW for metric).

  6. Changed the help file from WinHelp to HTML Help.

  7. Took measures to enable the program to work properly on Windows Vista without having to run it as administrator.

  8. Made it so you can enter numbers after the decimal point in the Square Feet Per Person input on the Design tab of the General Project Data window.

  9. Fixed a bug where if you were generating reports and there were errors in the project and the Error Notification window opened and you clicked its Abort button, the Print Preview would open anyway with a blank print preview.

  10. Fixed a bug on the Project Explorer window, where if you right clicked on an air handler node and clicked "Edit System" from the popup menu, the Air Handler Data window would become the active window but it would not automatically go to the right air handler number.

  11. Fixed a bug on the Find HVAC Equipment window when the list was set to display air source heat pumps, where the column header for Qualifying Tier was in the wrong place.

  12. Added a "Copy Multiple Zones" feature, which lets you make one or more copies of one or more zones. The Copy Multiple Zones dialog lets you select the air handler and group into which the new zones will be created, as well as the number of copies to make.

  13. Fixed a bug in the import of air handlers from Energy Audit, where the heat pump 47 and 17 degree capacities and COP values would not import from projects edited in Energy Audit version 7.02.40 or higher.

  14. Fixed a bug in the import of custom text blocks from the custom report from Energy Audit, where if there were existing custom text blocks in the Chvac project not all of them from the Energy Audit project would be imported.

  15. Fixed a bug in the import of air handlers from Energy Audit, where the Tradename inputs in Chvac's air handlers would not be blanked out.

Version 7.01.46 [1/25/2007] (Private Test Version)

  1. Added a partially completed feature for importing gbXML files, which will not be visible in the publicly released updates yet.

Version 7.01.45 [1/19/2007]

  1. Eliminated a "Type Mismatch" error that could occur during calculations on certain foreign language systems.

Version 7.01.44 [1/11/2007]

  1. Added the air handler name to the main title on the air handler pie charts. Also added the zone name for the zone pie charts.

  2. Modified the master glass entries in the "Sample RTS.chv" project to be closer to the CLTD entries in that project. So now you can switch the "Cooling Calculation Method" input on the General Project Data window from RTS to CLTD and get results that are pretty close to those of the other method.

  3. Updated the toolbars to a newer style with a different appearance.

  4. Added the descriptions of the master materials to the General Project Data Input report. These had been in version 6 but had not yet been in version 7.

  5. Fixed a bug where pressing the F2 key while the cursor was in one of the roof, wall or glass inputs would not copy the above component until you had clicked on the Edit menu at least once since opening the program.

  6. Fixed a bug that developed in one of the recent versions in the feature that converts a project from English to metric units or vice-versa, where many of the records were not being changed.

  7. Added a "Save Report and E-Mail" button to the Print Preview window's toolbar. Clicking this button will save the reports in the new Report Viewer File format (RVF) and attach it to a new e-mail message, where the body of the message includes a link to download the latest version of Report Viewer from the Elite Software web site.

  8. Under certain circumstances, added a warning message box that is displayed when you use the built-in PDF file creation feature. The warning message box is displayed when creating a PDF file from a Drawing Board drawing. The warning explains that it is better to use PDF creation software such as the free PDF writer available from www.CutePDF.com.

  9. Added new menu items under the File menu to let you e-mail your current project or one or more other project files.

Version 7.01.41 [8/16/2006]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in version 7.01.40, where if you had an air handler with zero occurrences that contained any zones with non-zero occurrences, and were generating reports that used the group calculation scenario (the (G) reports), an error would occur that made the Print Preview blank.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Find HVAC Equipment window, where if the number of records to be added to the list was more than about 32,000 the program would lock up.

Version 7.01.40 [8/10/2006]

  1. Fixed a bug where the sensible and latent gain per person properties on the Zone object in Drawing Board did not have dropdown help.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you entered zero for the "Lighting Load to Zones (%)" input on the Plenum Data window, the program would not calculate any lighting load for the plenum or the zone, and would not report an error. Now the lowest allowed value is one percent. If you enter zero an error will be added to the Evaluation of Project and Error Notification windows. Also updated the dropdown help for this input to show that the accepted range of values is from 1 to 100.

  3. Fixed a problem with a function used in the "Rebuild Project File" feature and in the conversion of version 6 project files, where if a project file had problems with its zone numbers it was possible for the program to leave certain problems uncorrected, and where it was possible for the program to lock up during the process.

  4. Made it so when you first open the program it asks you whether or not you want to check for an update. Also added a new "Set Check for Update Options" menu under the Help menu. You can now select whether you want the program to ask you, to automatically check, or to not check. If you set it to automatically check, you can also set it to notify you of any updates to the HVAC equipment databases you may have installed, which are used in Elite programs such as Chvac, Energy Audit and Rhvac. Also made it so the Update Available and similar dialogs from the Update Manager program float over all other windows. This change prevents the possibility of the Update Available window being put behind the main program window where you might not notice it.

  5. Fixed a bug where if the Drawing Board window had been opened and you switched to certain other windows within the program (the Print Preview window and the Project Explorer), the Drawing Board specific menus (Edit, Draw, Format, etc.) would remain visible instead of being hidden.

  6. Made it so if you change the Sheet property of a Zone object or any object that is part of a Zone (a Wall, Skylight, etc.), the Sheet property for all objects within that zone will be changed as well.

  7. Added another version of the Air Handler Summary Loads report that is included when you select the "Air Handler (G)" checkbox in the Load Summaries section of the Properties of Print Preview dialog. This new version of the report shows the zone level loads and supply airflow values that occur with the (G) calculation scenario (when groups rather than zones are treated as individual spaces). The old (G) report is now titled "...Summary Loads for Groups (G)," while the new report is titled, "...Summary Loads for Zones (G)."

  8. On the Drawing Board window, made it so the Chvac 7 Drawing Objects catalog appears first in the list of available catalogs in the Catalog Browser, and the Ductsize Drawing Objects appears second. Also made it so various other catalogs that are not for use within Chvac (such as the one for Rhvac) do not get loaded.

  9. Added the ability to save the Drawing Board drawing data within the Chvac project file, rather than as a separate file. You can convert a project from the two file system to saving internally or vice-versa by clicking the Change button on the Check Drawing File Link dialog.

  10. Added several special property categories for the Zone object in Drawing Board, which makes it easier to find the property you want to set.

  11. Modified some things about the Print Preview window, including adding the ability to save and open Report Viewer 2 reports (in RVF format), adding a better report e-mail feature that includes a link to download Report Viewer in the body of the message, adding more zoom options, and adding a better looking toolbar.

  12. Added a "License Info" menu item to the About box, which opens a window that explains the program's license agreement.

  13. Fixed a bug where clicking the "Preview Custom Report" button on the Custom Report window did not work.

  14. Fixed a bug where if you selected system heating or cooling equipment on the Find HVAC Equipment window, the cooling and heating capacity MBH values would be rounded to the nearest MBH. For example a unit with a capacity of 17,500 Btuh would show up on the System Data window as having a capacity of 17 instead of 17.5 MBH.

  15. Fixed a bug where the progress bar was not being shown in the main window's statusbar during certain potentially long operations such as searching for models on the Find HVAC Equipment window.

  16. Made it so the setup no longer prompts for the program destination folder during update installations, and never prompts for the Common and U-Factor Calculator folders.

  17. Fixed a problem where it was possible for a few of the Open and Save dialogs throughout the program to be moved behind the main window under certain circumstances (such as switching back to Chvac from another program using the Windows taskbar), essentially locking up the program.

Version 7.01.37 [10/17/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug that made it so if you had the Drawing Board window open and another window was in front of it and you clicked the Drawing Board toolbar button or menu item it would not bring the Drawing Board window to the front.

  2. Added a "Duplicate Zone" command to the Special Commands of the Zone object in Drawing Board. Right click on a Zone object on the drawing, then click "Duplicate Zone" to create a new zone that has all the same walls, windows, doors, etc., as the selected zone. The upper left corner of the new zone will be at the point where the mousepointer was when you right clicked.

Version 7.01.36 [8/14/2005]

  1. Made it so you can enter a number with decimal places into the Floor Slab Perimeter property of the Zone object in Drawing Board.

  2. Fixed a bug in the rarely used "Import from Audit" feature, where equipment capacities imported from Audit were not being multiplied by 0.001 to get the MBH values that Chvac uses.

  3. Modified the Import from Audit feature to be able to import from Audit 7.02 project files.

Version 7.01.35 [7/26/2005]

  1. Fixed a problem with yesterday's version 7.01.34 having to do with the component that generates the graphs for the reports.

Version 7.01.34 [7/25/2005]

  1. Fixed a problem where you could not enter a number with decimal places into the capacity inputs on the Equipment tab of the Air Handler Data window. This was a problem because all the capacities are in MBH and a whole number is sometimes not adequate.

  2. Fixed a bug in the recently added summer indoor wet bulb temperature exported to the ASCII txt output file. One of the parameters in the formula used to calculate this value used the wrong units and made the result slightly off. This bug only affected this one new column in the ASCII txt output file.

  3. Fixed a problem with the display of some of the program's child windows, where if the current child window was maximized and you opened another window (such as Master Data) the newly opened window would open up not maximized. Now these windows follow the default operating system behavior, where a new child window will open in the same state as the current one.

Version 7.01.33 [6/23/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you entered -1 for a safety factor on the Air Handler Data window to force it to zero, it had the same effect as entering a zero, which meant that the value on the General Project Data would be used for zones under that air handler. This problem applied to all three types of safety factors.

  2. Made the Object Properties window in Drawing Board into a docked window. Also made the Catalog Browser into a docked window. These two windows can now be either floating or docked to the left or right side of the Drawing Board window.

  3. Added a blue strip with the text, "Drawing Board" to the left side of the pulldown menu items that get inserted into the main window whenever the Drawing Board window is active.

  4. Added a "Drawing Board Tools" menu to the menu items that get inserted into the main window whenever the Drawing Board window is active.

  5. Fixed a bug in the ChvDraw7.ocx component that made it so for a metric project dimension values taken from the drawing were incorrectly written to the project file as being in English units.

  6. Made it so the version record in the project file is updated with the current version of the program anytime you open a project. Formerly the version was only written when the project file had to be updated due to changes in the format.

  7. Added "Project Address," "Project City, State and ZIP" and "Delivery Date of Units" inputs to the General Project Data window and added these to the ASCII txt output file and the General Project Data input report. Also added "Summer Indoor Wet Bulb" and "Heating Model Type" (both system level values) to the txt file.

  8. Made some changes to the reports for when the Heating Only option is selected, including removing places that showed the cooling peak time and month.

  9. Fixed a bug where changes you made to schedule values or the description on the Duct Schedule Database window were not being saved.

  10. On 7/1/2005, updated the setup to include the file ActBar.ocx, which had been missing from the setup for this update. This problem could affect first time installations.

Version 7.01.32 [4/11/2005]

  1. Added a warning to the Evaluation of Project window when the "Occurrences of this Air Handler" input is zero for all air handlers.

  2. Added a line to the Check Figures section on the reports that shows the heating Btuh per square foot.

  3. Fixed a bug where the partition area, loss, and gain were all zero (or otherwise incorrect) on the row that shows the system level in the ASCII output spreadsheet file.

  4. Fixed a bug on the Air Handler Data window, where the state of the "Zone Exhaust May Not Exceed Supply" checkbox being checked or not was not being saved with the air handler data.

  5. Made it so if you do not have a default printer installed and you try to open the Drawing Board window, a message box will tell you to install a default printer. Formerly, the program would just lock up.

Version 7.01.30 [12/21/2004]

  1. Decreased the minimum allowed outdoor winter temperature from -50 to -99 degrees.

  2. For Drawing Board, made it so when you export a wmf or other file through the "File | Export | From Drawing" feature, only the visible parts of the drawing are exported.

  3. Added a tooltip to the Object Properties window in Drawing Board that lets you see the entire property value when the text width is wider than the space available.

  4. Added an "HVAC Equipment Databases" tab to the Elite Software Update Manager program, which lets you see if any of the equipment database files in your Elite\Common folder are out of date and need to be updated. Also added a menu item in Chvac's help menu to open the Update Manager with the new tab selected. Also added a way to open it from the Find HVAC Equipment window's dropdown help for its Filename input.

  5. Fixed a bug in Drawing Board where changing the Roof Type property for the Zone object to an undefined master roof type did not automatically open the Define Master Roof dialog.

  6. Fixed a bug where the U-Factor Calculator would not open when you clicked the item in the dropdown help for the U-Factor input on the "Define Master Roof (Wall, Partition)" dialog.

Version 7.01.26 [10/28/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Detailed Zone Loads report when using the RTS method, where the sensible loss for glass was incorrect. This bug only affected the rows for individual glass items on this one report and not any of the totals in the calculations.

Version 7.01.24 [10/21/2004]

  1. Fixed a problem that would happen on Korean or other Double Byte Character Set versions of Windows, where the error log files would not be read properly and could make it so the Evaluation of Project window either would not show up or would show up and say "No errors were found" even though the current project had errors.

  2. Fixed a bug that made it so the program could lock up or show a "Select Data Source" dialog after executing Drawing Board's Undo feature.

Version 7.01.21 [10/15/2004]

  1. Increased the maximum allowable number for the Group input on the Zone Data window from 10 to 1000.

  2. Fixed a bug on the General Project Data window, where it was possible to enter a -1 in the Operating Profiles inputs. On the Air Handler Data and Zone Data windows, a -1 can be appropriate to override whatever value was entered elsewhere, but on the General Project Data window the minimum valid number is zero.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Plenum Data window, where every time you clicked on the plenum number input the dropdown list of air handlers would add an additional 100 items to the list.

  4. Added a message to the "Evaluation of Project" and "Error Notification" windows whenever you have set the ventilation option for a zone to something other than "default to air handler" and the ventilation option for that zone's air handler is set to "100% of supply." The warning tells you that the program will override the zone's ventilation option in this case. Also added some text to the dropdown help for the ventilation option inputs on the Zone Data window to let you know about this behavior.

Version 7.01.19 [9/30/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug in the Building Envelope report, where plenum wall and glass items were not being included in the bottom section of the report that shows the wall and glass data in each of the eight main compass point directions. Also fixed another bug in the bottom section of that report where the glass shading coefficient was not being correctly determined when using the RTS method.

Version 7.01.18 [7/22/2004]

  1. Added an "Elite Software Update Manager" feature to automatically check to see if an update is available when the program is first opened. Also added a menu item under the Help menu called, "Check for Updates," which lets you open this new program, named EliteUpd.exe. This program lets you check the current status of your Elite Software programs to see whether or not any of them need to be updated.

  2. Fixed a problem where the Print Preview would go back to page 1 after you clicked the Refresh Reports button in its toolbar. Now it stays on the same page.

  3. Included new versions of the components that are used to generate the print preview and create a PDF file from it.

Version 7.01.16 [5/27/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where a shading device would be ignored unless an overhang projection was entered (i.e., it could not consist only of fins).

  2. Modified the text in the Chvac Help window (the one that shows up when you press F1) as well as the dropdown help for the master data shading device inputs to explain that "right" and "left" for shading devices are assumed from the perspective of looking at the window from the outside. Also included pictures in the help file to help illustrate which dimensions are required of the various shading device inputs.

  3. Fixed a bug where the F1 help was not going to the specific topic when you pressed F1 while on the Partitions tab or the Shading tab on the Master Data window.

Version 7.01.15 [5/26/2004]

  1. Fixed a problem where the text in the dropdown help for the glass summer and winter u-factor inputs needed to be set to a fixed font in a few more places in order to make the Adjustment Multipliers table line up properly.

  2. Added the ballast multiplier table to the dropdown help for the lighting and equipment watts inputs.

  3. Fixed a bug where the dropdown help on the "Select Roof - CLTD Method" and the "Select Wall - CLTD Method" would still show the English units values when the project was set to metric units.

  4. Fixed a bug where it was possible to type in more than one character in the CLTD wall ASHRAE group and wall color inputs on the Master Data window.

  5. Made it so some of the windows with multiple rows of data open faster.

Version 7.01.11 [5/4/2004]

  1. Made it so the first roof length and width do not automatically track with the zone length and width as you type unless the roof type is greater than zero.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Zone Data window where the gray boxes that show the default profiles for people and lighting were swapped.

  3. Fixed a bug on the importing of operating profiles on the Import From Chvac dialog, where only the first of the ten profiles would get imported. Fixed a similar bug on the same dialog when importing master data, where only the first roof, wall, etc. would get imported.

  4. Made it so various default labels on the Zone Data, Air Handler Data and Plenum Data windows are immediately updated as you type in data on another window.

Version 7.01.9 [4/23/2004]

  1. Fixed various bugs that could happen if you clicked the dropdown help button beside the zone number input on the Zone Data window. The final zone in the list could be replaced with data from another zone, etc.. Also fixed a problem where if you pasted a zone into the current zone the new zone name would not immediately show up in the list if you immediately clicked the zone number dropdown help button.

  2. Fixed a problem in the installation for version 7.01.8 from a few days ago where a file needed in order to show the New Drawing dialog was not included. This file, Vsview.ocx, had previously been left out of the setup for version 7.01.8 but had been in previous versions.

Version 7.01.8 [4/17/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where it was possible to change the value of read-only properties on the Object Properties window of Drawing Board.

  2. Added "Two Page" and "Thumbnails" buttons to the Print Preview window's toolbar to let you see two pages at once, or as many 1" thumbnails of the preview pages as will fit in the window. Also added items for these new buttons to the dropdown help for the Zoom text input on this window.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you had the Zone Data window open while you rotated zones using the Rotate Zones & Plenums dialog, the current zone on the Zone Data window would not get rotated.

  4. Fixed a bug where the "Minimum Supply Flow Option" property for the Zone object on Drawing Board was being saved with the wrong index, so that the method you chose would be off by one. Also fixed a bug where the "Minimum Supply Flow Value" was not being saved to the project file at all.

  5. Fixed a bug where a Drawing Board project done in Chvac version 6 would not get converted to version 7 correctly on a DBCS version of Windows such as a Korean or Japanese version.

  6. Fixed a bug where the "Print Selected Pages" dialog would not display its information correctly on a DBCS version of Windows such as a Korean or Japanese version.

  7. Fixed a bug where it was possible for roof, wall and glass data for the zones and plenums to not be included when the program opened and converted a version 6 project file.

  8. Added a button to the Print Preview window's toolbar that lets you save the document as a PDF file.

  9. Added the ability to zoom, scroll and navigate the print preview with the mouse wheel. Rolling the mouse wheel scrolls the report up or down. If you use the mouse wheel to scroll to the top or bottom of the page and keep rolling, the preview will go to the previous or next page. Holding down the Shift key and rolling the mouse wheel navigates to the previous or next page. Holding down the Ctrl key while rolling the mouse wheel zooms in or out.

Version 7.01.7 [3/9/2004]

  1. Made it so the program will run properly on foreign versions of Windows that use the Double Byte Character Set, such as Korean, Chinese and Japanese versions.

  2. Fixed a bug where the U-Factor Calculator program would allow only one character to by typed into the component name input. Also updated it to show a better image on the dropdown help button under Windows 2000 and XP.

Version 7.01.4 [3/3/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you entered a CTS type for a master wall that was above 24 an error would be shown in the Evaluation of Project window explaining that the wall would be ignored. Now it allows the CTS type for master walls to be up to 35.

  2. Fixed a bug on the "Define Master Wall" (or Roof or Glass) dialog that appears when you type an invalid wall master type into the Zone Data window, where it was possible for the description to be blanked out.

Version 7.01.3 [3/1/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Zone Data window, where if you typed a number into the Zone Number input ("No.") and pressed Enter, the "Press Enter to Find" tooltip would remain visible and the zone number would not change.

  2. Made it so if you enter a leaving heating coil CFM lower than the minimum allowed value the program will default to using the minimum and will report the change as it normally does on the Evaluation of Project window or the Error Notification window. Formerly, the when the program encountered a heating CFM value below the minimum allowed value the calculations would switch to treating the CFM you entered as a leaving heating coil temperature, with no indication of that change being reported in the Evaluation of Project window or Error Notification window (but the reports did clearly show the actual leaving heating coil temperature and heating supply CFM values used in the calculations). Also lowered the minimum allowed heating supply CFM from 201 to 50.

Version 7.01.2 [2/13/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Background tab of the Chvac Options dialog where the part of the monitor picture that represents the background would not be the right size and position when the Windows display DPI setting was set to a value different from the normal default (or, under some versions of Windows, when the Large Fonts settings was used).

  2. Fixed bugs on the Select Drapery Category and Select Fabric Designator dialogs, where if your DPI setting (or Font Size setting, depending on your version of Windows) for the Display Properties in Windows was set to something other than the "Normal size" default, there were display problems that made it hard to select what you wanted because the various images were shifted away from where they were supposed to be.

  3. Fixed a bug that made it possible to have data showing from the previous project on some of the windows when opening a different project after having a Drawing Board mode project open.

  4. Made it so if the longitude is zero while using the RTS method, it will be set to a default value of -90 (central United States). Also made it so if the local standard meridian is set to zero and the longitude is not near zero while using the RTS method it will be set to the standard meridian value that is nearest the current longitude value.

  5. Changed the circumstances under which the default page header background color will be used on the reports in place of the one the user selected.

Version 7.01.1 [2/6/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you had the Master Data window open and changed a master wall or master shading device input, it was possible for the changes you made to not immediately show up in the list of data in the dropdown help windows for the Wall Type and Shade inputs on the Zone Data window.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you set a system to heating only the duct sizes would not be calculated.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Zone Detailed Loads report when using the RTS method, where the header "Convect." for "Convective Sensible Gain" was too long and the text could wrap. It now says "Conv.".

Version 7.01.0 [2/4/2004] Official Release

  1. Corrected the text on the frame at the bottom of the "Select Roof - RTS Method" dialog to say "Custom Roof Data" instead of "Custom Glass Data". Made the same change to the "Select Wall - RTS Method" dialog.

Version 7.00.45 [1/29/2004] Beta 5

  1. Added a Folders tab to the Options dialog, which lets you specify the locations of the Favorites, Recent and Custom database files. The folder must exist before you specify a new location. When you change one of these to a different folder and click OK or Apply, the program copies that database file to the new folder unless a file with the same name already exists there.

  2. Added a shortcut key (underlined character) to each of the buttons on the various Organize Favorites (or Custom or Recent) dialogs. This change makes it so you can quickly move an item to the top of the list by holding down Alt+U, or to the bottom of the list by holding down Alt+D.

  3. Added a Save Reminder feature, which lets you specify how often you want to be reminded to save your work.

  4. Updated the help file.

  5. Added Enter key and arrow key navigation to the Air Handler Data window.

  6. Corrected the tab order on several windows.

  7. Fixed a bug where the Paste Custom Text Block button was enabled on the Custom Report window even if there was no custom text block in the clipboard.

  8. Fixed bugs that made it so when you created a custom text block on the Custom Report window it would already have text from a previously entered text block instead of being blank.

  9. Fixed a bug that made it so it was possible for remaining zones to not be ordered correctly in the project file database after having deleted a zone that was not the final one. The same problem affected the removal of custom text blocks on the Custom Report window.

  10. Made it so the "Rebuild Project File" feature (click the menu "Tools | Repair Files | Rebuild Project File") renumbers zone and custom text block records if necessary. Also made it so these same numbers are corrected if needed when you open a Chvac version 6 project file.

  11. Fixed a bug that made it so if you changed the checkboxes on the included systems list on the Custom Report window, your changes would not be saved correctly.

Version 7.00.40 [2004/1/19] Beta 4

  1. Technical changes related to Drawing Board.

  2. Fixed a bug that would let the "Notes About This Zone" input on the Zone Data window remain enabled while in Drawing Board mode.

Version 7.00.36 [2004/1/19] Beta 3

  1. Fixed a bug where pasting a zone on the Project Explorer window while the Zone Data window was open would blank out the current zone on the Zone Data window.

  2. Fixed a bug where items in the Air Handler menu were not always being enabled at the proper time.

  3. Added the rest of the items in the Air Handler menu to the toolbar on the Air Handler Data window.

  4. Fixed a bug where none of the inputs for the walls on the Zone Data window would be saved unless you typed something in to one of the Direction inputs.

Version 7.00.34 [1/14/2004] Beta 2 (1st Public Beta Release)

  1. Fixed a bug where the Check Errors input on the Zone Data window being set to Yes did not work right.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Building Load Summary report where the total glass sensible gain shown on this report when using the RTS method was incorrect.

  3. Added a menu item under the File menu called, "Convert Units," which will create a copy of the current project using metric units if the current project is in English units, and vice versa.

  4. On the Air Handler Data window, made it so when you type in a heating coil CFM, heating coil temperature, cooling coil temperature or cooling coil relative humidity, the appropriate option to the left of the input is selected automatically.

  5. Added a "Copy License File" button to the About box. Clicking this button displays a Browse for Folder dialog that lets you select the floppy drive or any other location from which you want to copy the program's license file.

  6. Made corrections to the RTS calculations when using metric units.

  7. Fixed a bug where when you clicked the Organize button then the popup menu on the "Select Glass - RTS" dialog, the "Organize" dialog that opened was for CLTD rather than RTS glass definitions.

  8. Fixed a bug on the Properties of Print Preview dialog where clicking a color on the color selector for the report headers did not change the color.
