VERSION CHANGES

Version 6.04.70 [10/22/2004]

  1. Fixed a problem that would happen on Korean or other Double Byte Character Set versions of Windows, where the error log files would not be read properly and could make it so the Evaluation of Project window either would not show up or would show up and say "No errors were found" even though the current project had errors.
  2. Fixed a bug that made it so the program could lock up or show a "Select Data Source" dialog after executing Drawing Board's Undo feature.
  3. Fixed a bug where if you had a background picture, it would not be redrawn every time it needed it, such as after resizing the main window.

Version 6.04.66 [10/1/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug in the Building Envelope report, where plenum wall and glass items were not being included in the bottom section of the report that shows the wall and glass data in each of the eight main compass point directions.
  2. Added an "Elite Software Update Manager" feature to automatically check to see if an update is available when the program is first opened. Also added a menu item under the Help menu called, "Check for Updates," which lets you open this new program, named EliteUpd.exe. This program lets you check the current status of your Elite Software programs to see whether or not any of them need to be updated.
  3. Added a "Copy License File" button to the About box. Clicking this button displays a Browse for Folder dialog that lets you select the floppy drive or any other location from which you want to copy the program's license file.
  4. Added the ability to zoom in or out on the Drawing Board window by scrolling the mousewheel up or down. And it zooms in such a way that wherever the mousepointer is on the drawing it will remain at that same point on the drawing as the zoom changes. Also, you can now pan the drawing by holding down on the mousewheel button and dragging. These features are available at any time, including when you are in one of the zooming modes (zoom in/out mode or zoom rectangle mode).

Version 6.04.62 [5/25/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where the dropdown help windows were not available on the Select Glass, Select Wall and similar dialogs while the project was set to metric units.

Version 6.04.61 [5/19/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where it was possible to change the value of read-only properties on the Object Properties window of Drawing Board.
  2. Fixed a bug where the "Minimum Supply Flow Option" property for the Zone object on Drawing Board was being saved with the wrong index, so that the method you chose would be off by one. Also fixed a bug where the "Minimum Supply Flow Value" was not being saved to the project file at all.
  3. Fixed a bug where it was possible some zones to be excluded from the tree on the Project Explorer.
  4. Corrected the arrow key navigation for the roof Suspended Ceiling inputs on the Master Data window.
  5. Fixed a problem where if the Air Handler Zone Load Summary Report was the first report in the list, the tables of data would have borders around the rows or columns.
  6. Added the ability to zoom, scroll and navigate the print preview with the mouse wheel. Rolling the mouse wheel scrolls the report up or down. If you use the mouse wheel to scroll to the top or bottom of the page and keep rolling, the preview will go to the previous or next page. Holding down the Shift key and rolling the mouse wheel navigates to the previous or next page. Holding down the Ctrl key while rolling the mouse wheel zooms in or out.

Version 6.04.58 [3/9/2004]

  1. Made it so the program will run properly on foreign versions of Windows that use the Double Byte Character Set, such as Korean, Chinese and Japanese versions.

Version 6.04.54 [3/1/2004]

  1. Made it so if you enter a leaving heating coil CFM lower than the minimum allowed value the program will default to using the minimum and will report the change as it normally does on the Evaluation of Project window or the Error Notification window. Formerly, the when the program encountered a heating CFM value below the minimum allowed value the calculations would switch to treating the CFM you entered as a leaving heating coil temperature, with no indication of that change being reported in the Evaluation of Project window or Error Notification window (but the reports did clearly show the actual leaving heating coil temperature and heating supply CFM values used in the calculations). Also lowered the minimum allowed heating supply CFM from 201 to 50.
  2. Corrected the Enter key navigation on the More Design tab of the General Project Data window.

Version 6.04.52 [2/24/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where typing Ctrl+V in a non-numeric input would cause the text in the keyboard to be pasted twice.

Version 6.04.51 [2/20/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you started a blank project and scrolled down past the first few visible glass items on the Master Data window and clicked the dropdown help button to the left of the first glass input, the program would freeze up. Also fixed the same kind of bug that would happen on the master wall inputs.

Version 6.04.50 [2/6/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you set a system to heating only the duct sizes would not be calculated.

Version 6.04.49 [10/29/2003]

  1. Fixed a bug where clicking the dropdown help button beside the heating model input on the Equipment tab of the Air Handler Data window would set the focus back the the Air Handler Data window after only momentarily showing the Find HVAC Equipment window.

Version 6.04.47 [10/22/2003]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in one of the recent versions that made it so the Select Data Source dialog would appear repeatedly while rebuilding a project file through the menu "Tools | Repair Files | Rebuild Project File."

Version 6.04.46 [10/18/2003]

  1. Made changes to eliminate potential problems in installing Chvac version 6 with the upcoming version 7. One modification was to not allow a version 7 project to be opened in version 6. Another was to update the setup program to let you install both versions 6 and 7 and then uninstall either one and have the remaining version continue to work. Another change was to make it so you cannot copy or import data from a version 7 project, since some of the records have changed. It is important that you install today's version if you plan to install version 7 on the same computer.
  2. Fixed a minor problem on the Project Explorer where the plenum node would not show up even if the plenum was active unless the project being explored was the current project.

Version 6.04.40 [6/12/2003]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you opened the new Select Wall dialog from the Define Master Wall dialog, the wall color shown on the Select Wall dialog would not be right on the Custom tab.
  2. Fixed a bug where if you opened the new Select Partition dialog from the Define Master Wall dialog, the u-factor shown on the Select Partition dialog would not be correct.

Version 6.04.38 [6/4/2003]

  1. Added a link in the "Elite Software on the Web" menu to the Chvac Update page.
  2. In order to make it easier to understand how to customize the toolbar, added a toolbar called "Extended Toolbar" and renamed the "Standard" toolbar to "Standard Toolbar." Also changed the "Customize" dialog's caption to "Customize Toolbar" and modified some of its labels.
  3. Fixed a small bug where upon first opening the Room Name Options dialog on Drawing Board, a room in the list other than the currently selected room would sometimes be the one with the check mark.
  4. Replaced the dropdown help windows for selecting from the Material Database with new dialogs titled "Select Roof," "Select Wall," etc.. The roof, wall and partition dialogs are based on tables in ACCA's Manual N that list various material combinations and their corresponding ASHRAE group numbers and u-factors. Removed the Material Database window. The material database is now referred to as the "Custom" material list, which can be seen by clicking the Custom tab on the new Select Roof and other similar new dialogs.
  5. Corrected the locations for several of the Australian cities in the weather database.

Version 6.04.33 [3/25/2003]

NOTE: If you use Drawing Board with Rhvac or Ductsize you will need to install today's update for those programs along with this update.

  1. Fixed a bug on the various Chvac objects in Drawing Board, where on the Object Properties window you could enter a master type number that was not yet defined on the Master Data window and the Define Master [Type] dialog would not appear unless you had already clicked the dropdown help button for that property at least once in the current drawing session.
  2. Technical changes related to Drawing Board.

Version 6.04.32 [3/18/2003]

  1. Added an About Drawing Board item to the Help menu so you can see the license level, the company headings and the version number.
  2. Changed the name of the "Chvac Drawing Colors" dialog in Drawing Board to "Chvac Drawing Options" and made it so you can set the default fill color, fill style, line color and line style properties for various Chvac objects.
  3. Added "Single French Door" and "Double French Door" objects to the Chvac Drawing Objects catalog in Drawing Board. Also added those options to the right click menu for glass objects. And added "Swap Hinge Side" and "Reverse Swing" commands to the glass object's right click menu when appropriate.
  4. Added "Reverse Panels" and "Swap Opening End" commands to the popup menu that appears when you right click a sliding glass door object on Drawing Board.
  5. In the Chvac Drawing Objects catalog in Drawing Board, added several different Zone objects that have some walls already set to being interior.
  6. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the drawing file of a project to be deleted under certain circumstances.

Version 6.04.31 [2/21/2003]

  1. Made it so the DucDraw1.ocx file and its catalog only get installed if Ductsize is not installed.
  2. Fixed a bug that made it so on some foreign regional settings you could only type one character into the program's inputs.
  3. Added the air handler name to the Air Handler Summary Loads, Air Handler Total Load Summary and Zone Detailed Loads reports.
  4. Made it so the names of the Desktop and Start menu shortcuts that the installation program creates include the version number of the program.
  5. Added an Undo feature to the Drawing Board window. Click the menu "Edit | Undo..." while the Drawing Board window is active to open the new Undo dialog, which lets you undo as many changes as you want. There is also a new "Maximum Undo Operations" input on the Drawing Board Options dialog (click "View | Drawing Board Options"), which lets you determine the maximum number of changes you can undo in any drawing session. And there is a new option in the list on that dialog called "Enable the Undo feature," which lets you turn off the Undo feature in order to speed the drawing window's behavior up a little.

Version 6.04.30 [12/7/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug that made it so a window object on Drawing Board could have its the Glass Width property listed before the Glass Master Type property for a drawing created before version 6.04.27. Now the Glass Master Type property is listed before the Glass Width property.
  2. Made it so the first instance of the Print Preview window remembers its previous size and position.
  3. Made it so if you try to drag and drop a floor plan object from the wrong catalog (i.e., from the Rhvac Drawing Objects catalog while you are working in Chvac) a message box is displayed telling you to change to the correct catalog.
  4. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the installation program to install the sample project files into the program folder by default rather than in the Projects folder.
  5. Updated the "Run Audit Program" menu item and toolbar button so that it will open version 7 of that program if installed.
  6. Increased the maximum allowed winter indoor dry bulb temperature from 100 to 150 degrees.
  7. Fixed a bug on the Drawing Board window's Group Colors dialog that made it so the colors and fill styles for groups in systems 2 through 100 could not be changed.
  8. Made it so if the leaving heating coil temperature is lower than the winter indoor dry bulb temperature plus the supply duct temperature drop, the leaving heating coil temperature is adjusted to be the equal to the winter indoor dry bulb temperature plus the supply duct temperature drop plus one degree. A warning message is generated explaining the adjustment.

Version 6.04.28 [9/19/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in the previous update where the Draw, Format and View menus for Drawing Board did not work in this program. Made modifications to prevent that from happening in the future.

Version 6.04.27 [9/14/2002]

  1. Made it so when you resize a wall or execute the Divide Wall command on Drawing Board, the doors and windows contained in that wall are immediately repositioned to fit within the wall if necessary.
  2. Fixed a report bug that could happen when using metric units. If you specified an amount of ventilation or infiltration as "L/s per square meter," the Air Handler Summary Loads report would show the criteria as "SF" for square feet rather than square meters.
  3. Fixed a potential problem where the component for the Ductsize Drawing Objects catalog, DucDraw1.ocx, would always be installed even if there were a newer version already present. That could make it so the component would not link correctly with the Ductsize program if Chvac had been installed after Ductsize.
  4. Fixed a typographical error on the Zone Data Input Report where it said that the units for the exposed floor slab perimeter were in square feet instead of linear feet.
  5. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 9, subscript out of range, if a glass item was entered on the Zone Data window with a Tilt of 180 (to indicate a skylight) and a Reference number greater than 5 (the highest valid roof reference number). When this situation happens, the program will now report an appropriate, descriptive error in the Evaluation of Project window to let you know what is wrong with the inputs.
  6. Added the shortcut key operation text to the popup menu that appears when you right click on wall or door objects. This new text tells you the shortcuts for doing the Divide Wall Here, Include Wall, Hide Wall, Reverse Swing and Swap Hinge Side operations.

Version 6.04.26 [5/7/2002]

  1. Technical changes related to Drawing Board.
  2. Made it so the Single Door and Double Door objects on Drawing Board are drawn with an arc to represent the door swing.

Version 6.04.24 [4/15/2002]

  1. Included a file that was needed in order to make it so the links in the program's help files to the Elite Software Handbook help file would work.
  2. Technical changes related to Drawing Board.

Version 6.04.23 [4/5/2002]

  1. Modified the Import From Audit code so that it will work with either version 6.07 or 7.01 of Audit.
  2. Changed the inputs for the heating and cooling capacity on the Equipment tab of the Air Handler Data window so that they will accept values in the Btuh range rather than only in the MBH range.
  3. Modified the Find HVAC Equipment window so that it displays capacity values in the list in Btuh rather than MBH. Also made it so when you select a model using this window it uses capacity units of Btuh rather than MBH when copying to capacity inputs on the Equipment tab of the Air Handler Data window.
  4. Added " (Drawing Board Mode)" to the caption of the Zone Data window when in that mode.
  5. Fixed a bug where if the mouse button configuration was set to left-handed, you still had to click with the left mouse button to select an item from the list on the dropdown help windows.
  6. Added a "Hide Wall" property to the Wall object on the Drawing Board window. Also added a "Hide Wall" command to the popup menu that appears when you right click a Wall object. Setting this property to True makes it so the wall's Included property is set to False and sets the Line Color of the wall to white, effectively hiding the wall. For more information, right click a Wall object on the drawing and select "Help on Wall Figure" from the popup menu.
  7. Made it so the Zone figure on Drawing Board is drawn with a white line color, which makes it so the outline of the zone background polygon's border is not visible. This change was necessary because of the new Hide Wall feature, in order to make it so an interior wall can truly be hidden.
  8. Removed the "Transparent" option from the Line Style dropdown list on the Group Colors dialog that opens when you right click a Zone object and select Group Colors on Drawing Board. The reason for removing Transparent is that it makes the zone too hard to select. The way to make it so the zone background is not visible is to set its fill color to white (which is now explained on the Group Colors dialog).

Version 6.04.21 [2/1/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in version 6.04.20 where a database error would occur when you tried to open the Material Database window.

Version 6.04.20 [1/23/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced recently where the drawing would not update the project file.
  2. Made it so the outdoor dry bulb and wet bulb temperatures written to the project file for PsyChart to import are the time adjusted values.
  3. Corrected the temperature rise due to a plenum and due to ventilation on the Psychrometric Report.
  4. Increased the number of master glass items from 20 to 50.
  5. Fixed a bug where if the Drawing Board window was open, the most recent data entered on one of the other project windows could be ignored upon clicking Evaluate Project.
  6. On 1/28/2002, made it so the layer and sheet names are updated on the Drawing Properties dialog of Drawing Board whenever you click away from the name you are editing. Now including version 6.01.69 of Drawing Board with today's version of CHVAC.

Version 6.04.18 [12/17/2001]

  1. Took measures to prevent a problem where Zone Name objects on Drawing Board could become linked to the wrong Zone objects.
  2. Added a menu item under the Help menu to a new "Frequently Asked Questions" topic in the Drawing Board help file.

Version 6.04.17 [11/1/2001]

  1. Fixed a bug where if a shading device had only left or right fins but no overhang projection, the percent shaded would always be zero.
  2. Made it so if a very high value (100 or more) for CFM per sq. ft. of infiltration or ventilation has been entered on the Zone Data window, an error will be displayed in the Evaluation of Project window and the entered value will be reduced to a default value of 100.
  3. Fixed a bug that could occur when for a VAV system the total outside air requirements exceed the calculated minimum supply CFM and some zones have a minimum supply CFM that exceeds the requirement of the zone. The program would mistakenly report zero CFM for the zones that had no minimum CFM specified. Now the program will allocate the required minimum supply CFM values to the zones that asked for it, and will still give the other zones the CFM required at their peak time.
  4. Fixed a bug where if a system was VAV and had a people diversity factor and one or more zones had a minimum supply CFM that was greater than the CFM required for that zone, the system CFM would be incorrectly reduced to account for people diversity in the zones where the minimum CFM entered exceeded what was required for the zone. Now for those zones where a larger than needed minimum CFM has been entered, the zone does not get credit for a reduced number of people when calculating the system CFM.
  5. Fixed a bug where if you had a VAV system that had a zone with a minimum supply CFM value that was less than the CFM required to cool the zone but more than the CFM that would be allocated to the zone during the calculation of the system CFM, the minimum supply CFM would not be honored. Now it will be, and an additional amount of reheat or reserve sensible load is added to the system load to account for the additional CFM.

Version 6.04.16 [10/11/2001]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Air Handler Summary Loads report when a VAV system type has been specified. Although probably not a very useful figure for a VAV system anyway, the cooling outside air Actual CFM shown on the Zone Peak Totals line was the actual CFM of outside air being used for the system at its peak time rather than the sum of the zones' outside air actual CFM at their peak times.
  2. Added a People Diversity Factor input on the General tab of the Air Handler Data window. The input on the General Project Data window now serves as a default people diversity factor, which can be overridden at the air handler level. This factor was always only being applied at the air handler level anyway, so we added the input on the air handler window to let you enter different people diversity factors for different systems in the building.
  3. Made it so you can import and export more types of pictures: AutoCAD 10 dxf, AutoCAD 14 dxf, Windows Metafiles (wmf), Enhanced Metafiles (emf), Bitmaps (bmp) and MetaDraw Pictures (mdp) files. Changed the Import DXF and Export DXF menus to just Import Into Drawing and Export From Drawing.
  4. Added a Preview button to the DXF File Conversion Guide dialog, which lets you verify whether or not you have entered everything correctly on that dialog to bring the dxf file into the drawing at the correct size.
  5. Modified the help file for CHVAC and added more links to the Drawing Board help file in the Help menu.
  6. Changed the splash window picture as well as the background picture.
  7. Included a new catalog for Drawing Board, Electrical.dbc, which includes receptacles, lights, switches, etc..
  8. On 10/12/2001, fixed a bug in the new exporting feature of Drawing Board where if you try to export a bitmap, dxf, etc., the file would not be of the correct picture type.

Version 6.04.15 [8/10/2001]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Psychrometric Chart report, where the design dry bulb and wet bulb temperatures were being used to create the outdoor condition point (OC) instead of the ones adjusted for the hour of the day.

Version 6.04.14 [8/8/2001]

  1. Fixed a bug in the ASCII spreadsheet file where on the System row, the Sensible Loss column showed only the total sensible loss of the zones and not the entire sensible loss for the system.
  2. Included the RHVAC Drawing Objects.dbc catalog and the RhvDraw1.ocx component with this program's setup because the Sample Floor Plan.dbp file that is included with Drawing Board requires those files.

Version 6.04.13 [7/14/2001]

  1. Fixed a problem where a Zone Name object on the drawing could lose its link to a Zone object after you delete one or more zones and reopen the drawing. Also made it so existing drawings where this problem may have occurred are repaired if possible.
  2. On 7/23/2001, made it so the file DrbNewD1.dll is installed into the Elite\DrawBrd folder instead of this program's folder.
  3. On 7/23/2001, installed a new version of the file Source.mdb, which makes it so the "Previous Version Detected" and "Converting to New Version" messages won't appear in the program's statusbar whenever you select Blank Project when starting a new project.

Version 6.04.12 [7/11/2001]

  1. Included a new weather database file, Weather.mdb, that includes corrections on the latitudes for some Austrailian cities (some had positive numbers instead of negative).
  2. Made it so the Drawing Board window opens (if in the normal windowstate) at the full size of the main window's client area.
  3. Fixed a bug on the Zone object on the Drawing Board window, where if you entered a Zone Height property that was greater than the default value of zero, the value would be read as being too large.

Version 6.04.11 [7/6/2001] (First public release with Drawing Board)

  1. Made more changes to the new help file.
  2. Modified the licensing enforcment code for the drawing component.
  3. Fixed a bug where the Print Preview Drawing menu item could still be enabled after closing the Drawing Board window.
  4. Added a new Steam Energy input on the General tab of the Air Handler Data window. This value defaults to 970 Btuh/lb. The required steam for the system is shown on the Psychrometric Report.

Version 6.04.10 [7/4/2001] (Not released)

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in version 6.04.8 that made it so the Print Selected Pages dialog would not have any items in its list.
  2. Made changes to the new help file.
  3. Fixed a bug where if the Drawing Board window was showing when you close a project (either by clicking the Close Project menu or by closing the program), and then opened another project that was not in Drawing Board mode or started a new project, the New Drawing dialog would appear during the Restore Desktop process, if that option was turned on.

Version 6.04.8 [7/3/2001] (Not Released)

  1. Removed the Units option from the CHVAC Options dialog and replaced its functionality with the Units input on the General Project Data window. This setting is now saved on a per project basis instead of globally.
  2. Fixed a bug that made it possible, when the General Project Data Report was printed, for the program's taskbar to display an extra button for a "Print Preview" window that was not visible.
  3. Fixed a bug introduced with the new Drawing Board window that could cause a dialog to appear asking for the database source name if you selected the default option on the Temporary File Detected dialog.
  4. Made it so the program's help will close when the program does.
  5. Added a new help file.
  6. Made it so the program closes faster.

Version 6.04.7 [6/25/2001] (Not Released)

  1. Made it so the Zones item in the list on the Import From CHVAC dialog is unchecked and cannot be checked while the current project is in Drawing Board mode.
  2. Fixed a bug that would cause an error upon dropping a North Arrow figure onto the drawing.
  3. Added additional error checking to the North Arrow figure.

Version 6.04.6 [6/23/2001] (Not Released)

  1. Updated the New Drawing dialog to include a CHVAC Drawings tab.
  2. Added error handling related to the Project Explorer windows.

Version 6.04.5 [6/22/2001] (Not Released)

  1. Fixed a bug where if the Drawing Board window was open and you started a new project, the new project would not start with a fresh drawing and the number of zones would not be reset to zero.

Version 6.04.4 [6/21/2001] (Not Released)

  1. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the North Arrow figure on the drawing to lose the fill color for the pointer.
  2. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the Report Calculation Range for a newly displayed Print Preview to not reflect the most recent changes on the Drawing Board window if the Drawing Board window was open at the time that the reports were generated.
  3. Added error handling code during startup.

Version 6.04.3 [6/19/2001] (Beta 3 for version with Drawing Board)

  1. Fixed a bug with the Drawing Board Catalog Browser that made it so you could not drag and drop objects correctly.

Version 6.04.2 [6/19/2001] (Beta 2 for version with Drawing Board)

  1. Modified the CHVAC Drawing Object component so that it will allow Drawing Board to temporarily be at the Active level for the beta testers.

Version 6.04.1 [6/15/2001] (Beta 1 for version with Drawing Board)

  1. Assigned an icon to the CHVAC Drawing Object catalog.
  2. Fixed a bug introduced in 6.04.0 where the menu "Help | Frequently Asked Questions" went to the wrong place in the help file.
  3. Changed the dropdown help for the Door object on the drawing when the wall it is contained in is a partition.
  4. Added "zero goes to" and "default goes to" text in the Object Properties window for the Special properties of the Zone and Wall objects.
  5. Made it so the Define Master [Component] window is displayed upon selecting an invalid master type for any of the appropriate Special properties on the Object Properties window of the Drawing Board window.

Version 6.04.0 [6/11/2001] (Alpha 1 for version with Drawing Board)

  1. Added pretreated loads, when present, to the building loads pie charts.
  2. Made it so the Project, Client and Company items on the General Project Data Input report do not print unless something is filled in for them.
  3. Added a Drawing Board window, which lets you enter zone information by drawing the floor plan rather than using the Zone Data window.
  4. Changed to a different style toolbar for technical reasons in order to accomodate the new Drawing Board window.
  5. Changed the name of the "Custom Tools" menu and dialog to "Favorites" and made it so the icon associated with the document or program appears in the menu.
  6. Made it so the icon associated with files in a project's Related Documents appears in the menu.
  7. Replaced the program's taskbar with a new one that works and looks better.
  8. Made it so the toolbars for the following windows cannot be made to float or not be visible: Project Explorer, Custom Report, Material Database, Duct Schedules.
  9. Added a "Rebuild Project File" menu item in order to rebuild project files that have become corrupt as a result of the program not shutting down normally, such as with a power failure, a computer crash or if the program performs an illegal operation.
  10. Fixed a bug that prevented the e-mail address and website inputs on the General Project Data window from being saved if no other data on the General Project Data window was changed since that window was open.

Version 6.03.16 [5/10/2001]

  1. Made it so the ASCIFile folder would be created if it doesn't exist.
  2. Corrected three rows of the dropdown help for ASHRAE standard 62 ventilation rates on the Ventilation Value inputs. The rows that were corrected were the first three in the hotel category, which had the CFM per person value entered in the 2nd instead of the 3rd column.
  3. Made it so you can type in a number with up to two decimal places on the minimum and maximum velocity inputs for ducts on the Air Handler Data and Zone Data windows.
  4. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the dropdown arrow buttons to have a Windows 3.1 appearance under certain circumstances.
  5. Fixed a bug where it was possible to get a fatal error 5, invalid procedure call or argument, after clicking OK or Apply on the Customize Toolbar dialog.
  6. On 6/6/2001 Added a new weather data file, Weather.mdb, which corrects the earlier file that had positive latitudes for some of the southern hemisphere cities.

Version 6.03.15 [4/18/2001] (Alpha Test Version)

  1. Removed the 1000 page limit from the Print Preview window.
  2. Added an error message for zones that have zero volume.
  3. Corrected the web page addresses that are accessed by clicking the menu items under the "Help | Elite Software on the Web" menu.
  4. On the Air Handler Summary Loads report, when a plenum is in the system, changed the peak time shown for the plenum from the system peak time to the sensible peak time for the plenum itself.
  5. Fixed a bug where the Equipment Watts shown in the Area/Quan column on the Building Summary Loads report did not include Watts of equipment in any active plenums. This bug only affected that one column though, and the sensible gain column on that same report did include the equipment load from plenums.
  6. Modified the format of the comma delimited ASCII file that can be created when generating reports. The file now contains much more data about the project, and includes information about each level of calculation, including the building, system, plenum, zone and zone group levels. The filename is now user-defined as well, and can exist in any folder. There is a new text input for the project file under the "Create ASCII spreadsheet file" checkbox on the General area of the Miscellaneous tab of the Properties of Print Preview window.

Version 6.03.13 [3/8/2001]

  1. Made it so the program's file dialogs, such as Open Project, Save Project As, etc., are centered over the appropriate window instead of centered on the screen. Also made it so these dialogs always float, even if you switch away from CHVAC and back to it while one of them is open.
  2. Added a Page Setup item under the File menu, which lets you set the margins for the reports. Margin settings are remembered the next time you open the program.
  3. Made it so the printer selected with the Print Setup dialog is saved with the program.
  4. Changed the pictures used for zones in the Project Explorer.
  5. Made it so you can close any of the Evaluation windows by pressing Esc.
  6. Added a Print Selected Pages dialog, which lets you select for printing any of the pages in the current Print Preview window. Rearranged the order of the Print Preview sub-menus and the Print Preview window's toolbar buttons so that the Refresh Reports button is second.
  7. Changed the caption for the "Report Calculation Ranges" area of the Properties of Print Preview window to instead say, "Calculation Ranges." The reason for this change is that when you set the zone or air handler range to anything less than the default, the zones and air handlers that are excluded are excluded from the calculations as well as the reports. Made similar changes to the text of the dropdown help windows for these inputs.

Version 6.03.12 [12/29/2000]

  1. Increased the limits on the miscellaneous supply and return gains on the Air Handler Data window from plus or minus 100,000 to plus or minus 10,000,000.
  2. Fixed a bug where if a system had a direct CFM of cooling ventilation entered and there were any zones in the system that were set to heating only, the direct CFM of ventilation would not be honored.
  3. Changed the printing component used to generate reports from VSView2.ocx to VSView6.ocx., and took other measures to hopefully prevent the problem that happens with some printers on the Psychrometric Report, where the header is printed as a single column of text.
  4. Fixed a bug where you had to click twice on OptionButtons or Checkboxes in order for the click to take effect.

Version 6.03.11 [10/24/2000]

  1. Increased the limits on the following inputs: Air handler supply CFM: 10,000,000. Zone exhaust CFM: 10,000,000. Zone minimum supply CFM: 10,000,000. Duct CFM per runout: 100,000. Heating supply CFM: 10,000,000. Ventilation and Infiltration values: 10,000,000.
  2. Fixed a bug where you had to click twice on an OptionButton (RadioButton) to select it. This bug was introduced in version 6.03.9.
  3. Fixed a bug on the Building Envelope report where the components from plenums were not being included.
  4. Took measures to prevent a printing problem on the psychrometric report where a vertical column of text would sometimes be printed beginning with the entering coil conditions.

Version 6.03.10 [6/14/2000]

  1. Technical changes.

Version 6.03.9 [6/13/2000]

  1. Took measures to get rid of an occasional illegal operation that has been happening sometimes.

Version 6.03.8 [6/12/2000]

  1. Modified the project file to make data available for Elite Software's Ductsize program to import.
  2. Made it so the supply airflow used to find the duct sizes for zones in Constant Volume systems is based on whether the heating or cooling supply airflow dominates the system. For example, if a constant volume air handler's cooling supply CFM is greater than its heating supply CFM, the program will use each zone's cooling CFM in sizing the ducts. Formerly, the program would always use whichever was greater for the zone.

Version 6.03.7 [2/17/2000]

  1. Added a "Filename footer" option to the Properties of Print Preview window to allow turning off the bottom-left hand footer that shows the project filename.
  2. Corrected a situation where if the summer ventilation was sufficient to zero out the cooling loads, the heating loads were zeroed out for the air handler as well. Now the heating loads will go ahead and calculate.
  3. Fixed a bug where if the Zone Data window were open while importing zones from another CHVAC project with the Import From CHVAC dialog, not all the zone data would be imported into the newly added zones.

Version 6.03.6 [11/9/99]

  1. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the title page picture to be positioned slightly too far down on the page.
  2. Included a new weather database file that contains weather data for over 2,000 cities throughout the world.
  3. Removed the message box that could appear during the creation of the psychrometric chart, which said that one or more of the points or processes could not be created. This same message is printed on the reports, so the message box is not needed.
  4. Fixed a bug on the Total Building Load Summary report where partitions in plenums were not being included in the top part of the report, which made it so it was possible for the %Tot column in the top part did not equal 100%. This is the only report that was affected by this problem.
  5. Increased the width of some of the optionbuttons on the Air Handler Data window so their text won't wrap to more than one line.
  6. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 13, Type Mismatch, when the computer's regional settings are set to French Canadian, or any similar locale.

Version 6.03.5 [5/18/99]

  1. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 9, "Subscript out of range", if the only "Group" type of reports selected on the Properties of Print Preview window were in the "Group" row of the Profile Graphs or the Load Profiles.

Version 6.03.4 [5/10/99]

  1. Added the system's entered winter indoor dry bulb temperature to the right-hand side of the Project Explorer.
  2. Fixed a bug on the Air Handler Data window where the main trunk and runout duct shapes were always being saved as round.
  3. Fixed a bug in the Fla/Com file export feature where an error 9, subscript out of range, could occur if there were zones in the project that had the Occurrences input set to zero.
  4. On the Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window, made it so if a cooling month is not set to "(None)" and has a zero entered for the indoor or outdoor temperatures, the month will be ignored and an error will be listed in the "Evaluation of Project" and "Evaluation of Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions" windows.
  5. Added the ability to quickly copy the program's license file from the license disk to the program folder by pressing Ctrl+Shift+L while the "About CHVAC" window is open.

Version 6.03.3 [4/29/99]

  1. Corrected the calculation of enthalpy when the program is set to Metric units. The conversion to Metric of a value of specific enthalpy given in English units has to account for the fact that the point of zero enthalpy is different for English than it is for Metric. In English, the temperature value corresponding to zero enthalpy is 0 degrees F, while in Metric units the temperature value corresponding to zero enthalpy is 0 degrees C, which is not the same temperature. The correct formula for the conversion is: kJ/kg = Btu/lb * 2.326 - 17.7778.
  2. Modified the way the program finds maximum solar heat gain factors (MSHGF) so that an actual table lookup is performed when the glass direction is at one of the 16 compass points (in addition to the other qualifications for table lookup). The program had only been doing a table lookup when the direction was on one of the 8 compass points and calculating MSHGF on all other directions.
  3. Fixed a bug on the detailed zone loads report where if a glass were 100% shaded, the sensible gain for the glass would be listed as zero. This problem affected only this one line of this one report. The glass solar gain was being correctly accounted for in the load of the zone, air handler and building.

Version 6.03.2 [4/26/99]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in 6.03.1 that prevented the U-Factor Calculator and RHVAC programs from being able to run on the same computer as CHVAC 6.03.1.
  2. Added back three helptext files that had been inadvertently removed from the version 6.03.1 full installation (Help0022.Dat, Help0030.Dat and Help0220.Dat).

Version 6.03.1 [4/22/99]

  1. Added a check to the calculations to prevent a fatal error 6 that would occur if the leaving cooling coil relative humidity was specified instead of the leaving cooling coil temperature and if the relative humidity entered was too low. Now, if the system inputs are like this, such a system is simply marked as unsolvable and yields all zero results.
  2. Corrected the placement of points and processes on the Psychrometric Chart Report when the Units option is set to metric.
  3. Corrected the units shown for enthalpy on the Psychrometric Report when the Units option is set to metric. The units had been shown as Btu/lbm, but they are actually in kJ/kg.
  4. Corrected the formatting of the last column on the equations shown on the General Psychrometric Equations section of the Psychrometric Report when the Units option is set to metric.
  5. Corrected the dropdown help for the plenum floor u-factor on the Plenum Data window. The help had suggested 0.31 as a typical u-factor for acoustic ceiling tile, but that value was given in Btu/(hr * ft² * ºF) instead of W/(m² * ºC). The conversion factor is 5.6783. The suggested value is now therefore changed to 1.76 (since 0.31 * 5.6783 = 1.76).

Version 6.03.0 [2/19/99]

  1. Fixed a bug where the calculation of the main trunk duct size was usingthe peak month of the incorrect air handler number.
  2. Fixed a bug where if the Project Title, Client Name, etc. entered on theGeneral Project Data window was greater than 29 characters long and theproject was exported to a Fla/Com 97 file, the Fla/Com 97 program wouldlock up when trying to open the file.  Now all such text is cut offat 29 characters when it is exported to a Fla/Com 97 file.
  3. Made it so this version, 6.03.0, is now required to be installed priorto whatever versions happen to come after 6.03.0.  Note that thereis no update installation that will update a current user of CHVAC to version6.03.0.  The full installation of 6.03.0 now serves as the updateinstallation.

Version 6.02.25 [2/11/99]

  1. Fixed a bug where a system set to heating loads only could have all zeroresults for the heating loads if the 'Use fast peak determination' optionwas unchecked and certain other factors were present.
  2. Corrected the heading on the Air Handler Load Summary report where it wouldsay "Act.CFM" instead of "Act.L/s" when the program was set to metric units.

Version 6.02.24 [1/22/99]

  1. Fixed a bug that could sometimes cause a fatal error 9, subscript out ofrange, when calculating the amount of shading on a glass that has a shadereference.
  2. Corrected a miscalculation on the amount of infiltration to be added atthe system level for zones that occur multiple times and that have infiltrationspecified at either the zone or system level.

Version 6.02.23 [1/19/99]

  1. Made changes to eliminate an illegal operation that could occur when clickingon the down arrow for a dropdown help window.

Version 6.02.22 [1/8/99]

  1. Fixed a problem that developed in version 6.02.20 where the backgroundof the main window would not fully paint itself if the background was setto display a picture.

Version 6.02.20 [1/7/99]

    1. Fixed a problem where if leaving coil relative humidity had been specifiedfor a system and that relative humidity was not possible, the program wouldsimply give up on that system and mark it as being unsolvable.  Nowthe program will revert to using leaving coil dry bulb temperature andcontinue to try to solve the system.
    2. Added a psychrometric chart report to the Print Preview reports. A chart can now be printed that shows the various state points and processesused in each cooling system.

Version 6.02.19 [12/18/98]

    1. Corrected a problem where if a miscellaneous supply-side gain had beenentered the formula on the Air Handler Total Load Summary report that showshow the supply CFM was calculated did not include the miscellaneous gain.

Version 6.02.18 [12/17/98]

    1. Added miscellaneous supply gain and miscellaneous return gain to the TotalBuilding Summary report.  If either of these items were in the project, the % Total columns on this report did not include them and would thusnot add up to 100%.  In the Building Summary section of this report, these items are now included in the "Fan and Duct Loads" row.

Version 6.02.17 [12/16/98]

    1. Added miscellaneous supply gain and miscellaneous return gain to the airhandler Total Load Summary report.  These items were already includedin the total, but were just not included on the report.

Version 6.02.16 [12/15/98]

    1. Made it so the project file will be in a state of needing to be saved afterthe program has updated it to be compatible with PsyChart.
    2. Modified the About Box.

Version 6.02.15 [12/14/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 6, Overflow, when a wall had a directionentered of 360 degrees.
    2. Corrected the text on the Building Envelope report from "Envlope" to "Envelope".
    3. Removed the "Print to file" checkbox and disabled the "Selection" optionbutton on the Print dialog, since those items are not supported.
    4. Increased an internal constraint in the air system calculations to allowthe program to solve for air systems that take may take longer to solve. This change affects air handlers where the leaving coil relative humidityhas been specified instead of the leaving coil dry bulb.
    5. Changed the number of people displayed on the detailed zone loads reportso that only one decimal place is printed.
    6. Modified the project file so that the pertinent data is available for theElite Software PsyChart program.

Version 6.02.14 [11/13/98]

    1. Corrected the line on the Air Handler Input report that shows whether theexhaust air for the zones in an air handler can exceed the zone supplyair or not.  The report was showing the opposite of what it oughtto show.  The calculation routines were using the correct value, however.
    2. Corrected the duct air velocity units displayed on the Air Handler SummaryLoads report.  When set to English units, the report said "ft/s",but the velocities shown are actually in ft/minute.
    3. Changed the Check Figures section of the reports when the program is setto metric units.  This section now shows quantities in kW as wellas tons, similar to the way it was done in MHVAC.

Version 6.02.13 [10/15/98

    1. Made the filename in the Save As dialog boxes for exporting a CHVAC DOSproject file and Fla/Com 97 project file not include the path, since thefolder is already set on those dialogs.
    2. Corrected the exporting of CHVAC DOS project files so that they can thenbe imported into Elite Software's EZDOE program without error and withouthaving to open them in CHVAC DOS beforehand.
    3. Added the ability to export a PowerDOE project file.

Version 6.02.12 [6/29/98]

    2. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 6, Overflow, after entering the upgradepassword on a computer that has its regional settings set so that the commaand decimal are reversed from those of "English (United States)".
    3. Corrected the line on the Air Handler Load Summary report that shows theformula for the calculation of cooling supply CFM.  The calculationswere correct, but the sensible gain shown at the beginning of the formulawas slightly off.
    4. Fixed a bug that would allow the mousepointer to remain an hourglass atstartup if the Tip of the Day window was set to display at startup butthe Project Explorer window was not.
    5. Added the word "cooling" to the dropdown help on the Minimum Supply CFMinputs on the Zone Data window in order to indicate that those inputs canonly affect the cooling side.
    6. Added a new checkbox, "Use today's date on title page" to the Propertiesof Print Preview window.  When the box is checked, today's date isused on the title page; when unchecked, whatever was entered in the "Date"input on the General Project Data window is used.

Version 6.02.10 [6/29/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where clicking on the splash window or pressing a key whilethe splash window was displayed but before the main window was displayedwould cause the splash window to unload then display again, then unloadagain after the program finished loading.
    2. Fixed a bug where the "Recall Previous" selection for the "Starting previewzoom amount" option would only set the zoom to Page Width.
    3. Fixed a bug introduced in version 6.02.9 where it was possible to get afatal error "Object variable or With block variable not set."
    4. Fixed a bug in the exporting of a DOS project where the exported zone minimumsupply CFM would only be correct in DOS CHVAC if the zone minimum supplyCFM option in Windows CHVAC was set to Direct.

Version 6.02.9 [6/26/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where deleting a zone from a Project Explorer under certaincircumstances would not always set the project in a state where it needsto be recalculated before generating reports.
    2. Fixed a bug on the Building Summary report where the rules for includingloads from systems with negative sensible or latent gains were not alwaysbeing applied correctly.
    3. Added a measure to prevent a fatal locking up problem that occasionallyhappened under Windows NT when certain windows were open and the program'staskbar was visible.

Version 6.02.8 (not released) [6/25/98]

    1. Corrected the exporting of DOS CHVAC projects that have "Direct CFM" selectedfor any of the outside air options.  Now "0" is filled in for theinfiltration or ventilation method instead of "4".

    5. Changed the Report Calculation Ranges inputs on the Properties of PrintPreview window from drop-down lists to text inputs with drop-down helpwindows.  Made the list of allowable Air Handler numbers only includethose Air Handlers that have zones in them (instead of filling the listup with all 100 air handlers).
    6. Changed the Zone Input reports so that only the zones that are within systemsthat are turned on and included in the Beginning and Ending Air Handlerinputs will be listed in the reports.
    7. Added an "Import From CHVAC" window that allows importing large amountsof data from another project.
    8. Corrected the Building Envelope Report to only include those items thatare within zones that are within air handlers that are turned on and includedin the Beginning and Ending Air Handler inputs.

    1. Added error handling to try to track down the problem that was later solvedin version 6.01.46.

Version 6.01.44 [5/28/98]

    1. Corrected the way the program handles systems with negative sensible and/orlatent gains at the building level.  Negative system latent gainsare ignored at the building level; negative sensible gains are countedat the building level only when the system has a positive latent gain thatis greater in magnitude than the sensible gain.
    2. Corrected the way pretreated air gains are handled when there are negativeloads.  The pretreated sensible and latent gains or sensible lossare now handled separately from the corresponding system loads when determiningtheir contribution to the building load.  The same rules listed in(1) above now apply to the pretreated loads independent of the system loads.
    3. Fixed a bug that would occur when there were people in a zone that hada negative total sensible gain if there was a people diversity factor lessthan 100 entered for the project and there was a safety factor greaterthan zero for the zone.  The reduction of the people gain at the systemlevel due to the diversity factor was not accounting for the negative totalsensible gain of the zone and was thus applying the safety factor incorrectly.

Version 6.01.43 [5/25/98]

    1. Corrected a problem with registering the printer control in version 6.01.42(not released).
    2. Fixed a problem in the installation programs (both full and update) wherethe U-Factor Calculator could be installed onto the C: drive while anotherdrive had been specified for installing CHVAC.  A dialog for selectingthe U-Factor Calculator directory has been added to the installation programs.

    1. Fixed a bug where too low of a number could be entered in the "Line Spacing"input on the "Properties of Print Preview" window.
    2. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 402 under the following circumstances:(1) the program was opened by double-clicking on a project file; (2) the"Tip of the Day" window was set to show at program startup; (3) the "Restoreprevious window layout upon opening project" option was turned on; (4)the Air Handler Data window had been open the last time a project had beenopen.
    3. Fixed a bug on the Weather Database window where the month informationwas not always being saved correctly and where the months were sometimesbeing duplicated onto other rows when scrolling through the different months.
    4. Added a feature to the Roof inputs on the "Zone Data" window so that whena number is entered for the roof type, the roof length and width will automaticallybe filled in to match the zone's length and width.
    5. Fixed a bug where the heating ventilation did not show up on the buildingand air handler pie charts.
    6. Fixed a bug where the "Edit|Undo" menu didn't work when running on WindowsNT.
    7. Fixed a bug where the captions on the ventilation and infiltration optionbuttonson the Zone Data window would be so long that the text could wrap and makethe caption illegible.
    8. Fixed a bug in the full installation program where the shortcuts for CHVACand the U-Factor Calculator would get installed into a different groupthan the Readme.doc shortcut under Windows NT.

Version 6.01.41 [5/4/98]

    1. Corrected the problem where the report font sizes could change after havingchanged the regional settings.

Version 6.01.40 [5/1/98]

    1. Added another check to make sure the report font size was not too largeafter having changed the computer's regional settings.
    2. Fixed a fatal error 380 that would occur when trying to preview reportsafter having changed the regional settings in a certain way.
    3. Fixed a fatal Type Mismatch that would occur when trying to preview reportsafter having changed the regional settings in a certain way.

Version 6.01.39 [5/1/98]

    1. Added a check to make sure the report font size was not too large afterhaving changed the computer's regional settings.
    2. Removed the decimal places from the labels that display the default ceilingarea under plenum, lighting Watts and equipment Watts.
    3. Changed the number formatting on the lighting and equipment Watts and glassu-factor dropdown help windows in order to accomodate regional settingswhere the comma and decimal are reversed.

Version 6.01.38 [4/30/98]

    1. Accommodated regional settings other than "English (United States)" byallowing a comma to be used as the decimal separator.

Version 6.01.37 [4/25/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that could cause an error 9, "Subscript out of range", whengenerating the detailed zone load report for a plenum within a system whosenumber is higher than the highest zone number in the project.  Alsoin the plenum sections of the detailed zone loads report, removed the notationabout which profile was used for the plenum's lighting gain, since anycombination of lighting profiles could have been used in the various zonesunder the plenum.
    2. Corrected the way the program handles plenum heating or cooling loads withinsystems that have their calculation option set one way while any of thezones within that system have their calculation option set another way. For example, if all the zones within a system are set to cooling only, the program will treat the system as cooling only with respect to how itdeals with the plenum load, regardless of what the calculation option wasset to on the system window.  In other words, the program now resetsthe calculation option for the system (as far as plenum calculations areconcerned) according to the calculation option settings of the variouszones within the system.  This correction should eliminate the possibilityof the top section of the Building Load Summary report not adding up tothe exact same numbers as the middle ("Building Summary") section of thatreport.  It also should eliminate the possibility on the Air HandlerTotal Load Summary report of the plenum sensible loss being non-zero ina system where all the zones are set to cooling only (the same goes forplenum sensible gain when all zones are set to heating only).

Version 6.01.36 [4/25/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that would cause an error 457, "This key is already associatedwith an element of this collection", to occur when closing the programby right-clicking on the background of the main window while no projectwas open and then clicking the "Exit" menu.
    2. Increased the width of the inputs on the Main tab of the Air Handler Datawindow.  Also increased the width of the Miscellaneous Gain inputson the Misc tab.
    3. Fixed a bug that made the sensible gain and latent gain columns in theASCII output file always have zeroes in them for each zone or group.
    4. Fixed a bug where if a plenum had a negative sensible gain, the peak hourand month would not be calculated for that plenum.  This caused thedetailed zone and plenum loads report to show "(None)" for the peak timeand to show zero for sensible and latent gains of items in that plenum.
    5. Fixed a bug that could occur on the Building Load Summary report, whereif a plenum's total gain or loss happened to be negative and the systemor the zone had a safety factor, the contribution of the lighting gainfrom that plenum would be incorrect.
    6. Fixed a bug that could occur on the Building Load Summary (G) report, whereif there were no (Z) type reports selected, the Equipment line would notinclude gains from equipment in the plenums.
    7. Added a line to the Building Load Summary report to account for the casewhen safety factors have been specified and there is a negative total gainor loss for a zone or plenum. Normally, the Plenum load in the zones offsetsthe Plenum Credit for the plenum, but when negative loads are combinedwith safety factors, the Plenum Credit and Plenum load in the zone willnot necessarily cancel each other out.  This is because when the safetyfactor is applied to a negative total gain or loss for a zone or plenum, that total becomes less negative, thus making the calculation of the contributionof individual items within that zone or plenum somewhat more involved. The new line is identified as "Plenum Adj.", for Plenum Adjustment.
    8. Fixed a bug on the top section of the Building Load Summary report wherethe contribution due to latent equipment was not taking the equipment profilesfor zones into account.
    9. On the Detailed Zone Loads report, moved the line that shows the Plenumload (for the zones) and the Plenum Credit (for the plenums) up to thetop.  This line had been below the lines showing roofs.
    10. On the Detailed Zone Loads report for plenums, split the Plenum Creditline into two rows in order to prevent the "Area" column from wrapping. The rows are now titled "Pl.Credit Cool." and "Pl.Credit Heat.".

    2. Fixed a bug that would cause an Overflow error when trying to preview ablank project.
    3. Fixed a bug that would cause a fatal "Invalid use of Null" error afterentering a glass type or a wall type on the Zone Data or Plenum Data windowsif the Master Data window had not been opened.  This error would alsooccur if the Master Data window had been opened, but the number enteredon the Zone Data or Plenum Data window exceeded the highest number of MasterGlass or Master Wall items that had been scrolled to on the Master Datawindow.
    4. Included the new help file with the installation.  It is only includedwith the full installation setup – not the Chvac601.exe update setup.

Version 6.01.31 [4/6/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that would cause an Overflow error during calculation for anyproject with over 328 zones or so.
    2. Added detailed progress indicators during the generation of more of thereports, such as the detailed zone loads report, the zone load profiles, etc.
    3. Fixed a bug where a subscript out of range would occur if the Group PieChart report was selected for a Print Preview while there was not alsosome other report selected that included the Group type of calculation.
    4. Improved the accuracy of the approximate number of report pages to be generatedin order to determine whether or not to display the memory requirementwarning.

Version 6.01.30 [4/6/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that would cause an Overflow error during calculation for anyproject with over 113 zones or so.

Version 6.01.29 [4/1/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that would allow there to be a "Print Preview 0" (zero) window.
    2. Fixed a bug that would generate a pie chart report page for zones withina system whose number of occurrences was set to zero.
    3. Fixed a bug where the total of the zones' cooling supply CFM on the AirHandler Summary Loads report was not accounting for zones that occurredmultiple times.

Version 6.01.28 [4/1/98]

    1. Added a feature from DOS CHVAC to give credit for the shading devices foreast-facing glass.  The glass load multipliers for east facing glassare normally high in the afternoon hours because the assumption is madethat there would be a large thermal buildup due to the sunlight strikingthe glass in the morning.  However, if there is a shading device abovean east-facing window such that the glass is always at least partiallyshaded from the sun in the morning, the heat being carried into the afternoonwill not be as much as if the glass were not shaded.  The programnow gives credit for shading devices installed on east-facing glass whenthe zone happens to peak later in the day by reporting the glass as beingshaded by the same amount as the minimum percent shaded that occurred duringthe morning hours.  This feature applies to glass facing from 45 degrees(NE) to 135 degrees (SE).

Version 6.01.27 [3/31/98]

    1. Changed the version of the file MhRun32.dll that gets installed with thesetup program.  The previous version seemed to be responsible forillegal operations especially when there was a Print Preview window open.
    2. Fixed a bug in the shading calculations where windows with a quantity greaterthan one were not reporting correct values for the amount of glass thatis shaded (this problem only happened with glass items that had a shadingdevice).

Version 6.01.26 [3/28/98]

    1. Changed the function of the heating and cooling Direct CFM inputs on theAir Handler Data window.  Previously, a value entered here would beassigned to each zone in the system, causing the total system ventilationCFM to equal the entered Direct CFM multiplied by the number of zones inthe system.  Now, selecting the Direct CFM option will instead assignthe entered CFM value to the entire system.  (Note that a Direct CFMof cooling infiltration had already been functioning in this manner, butthat choosing Direct CFM for heating infiltration had also been assigningthe entered CFM value to each zone in the system.  Now, a Direct CFMentered for heating is also assigned to the entire system.)
    2. Widened the inputs for ventilation and infiltration values on the Air HandlerData and Zone Data windows.
    3. Optimized some of the reporting code.

Version 6.01.25 [3/24/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where selecting "Air changes per hour" for the Minimum SupplyCFM Option on the Zone Data window would not calculate the correct CFMif the program was set to English (IP) units.

Version 6.01.24 [3/19/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where trying to export a project as a Fla/Com file withoutever having evaluated the zones or previewed a report would cause a non-fatalerror 9 and would prevent the Fla/Com file from being created.
    2. Simplified the process of finding and selecting HVAC equipment by eliminatingthe model types "Natural Gas Or Propane Furnace" and "Natural Gas Or PropaneBoiler".  Now, for example, when searching for a natural gas furnace, the Find HVAC Equipment window will search the database for both unitsthat are listed as natural gas and as natural gas/propane.
    3. Changed the numbers in the popup help window for sensible and latent heatper person.  The numbers in the list had been that of the 1985 ASHRAEhandbook instead of the 1989.  Now the numbers are those listed inthe 1989 (as well as the 1997) Handbook.
    4. Increased the speed of the shading calculations. Projects where shadingdevices are used can perform the zone calculations significantly fasternow.

Version 6.01.23 [3/11/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where opening the Air Handler Data window would always makethe project appear to have been changed and thus in need of saving.
    2. Fixed a bug where the combohelp window that lists the air handler nameswould sometimes not have any items in it when going from one project toanother while certain project windows were open.
    3. Changed the duct sizing code to assign a width of 1 instead of zero torectangular ducts where the width had been calculated to be close to zero.
    4. Fixed a bug where if the user changed the duct schedule to have all zerosafter the project had just been evaluated, the zones in that system couldall still be set to use the invalid schedule instead ignoring the scheduleas the error messages says ("…Schedule will be ignored").  Zones wouldthen incorrectly report zero for all sizes instead of calculating withoutusing the schedule.

Version 6.01.22 [3/11/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where having the duct minimum height set to a non-zero valuecould cause the program to encounter an error 9.
    2. Added an option to allow opening a project by double clicking its nodein a Project Explorer.
    3. Made the "Project Explorer Nodes>" and "Project Explorer Toolbar>" menusdisabled except when the active form is a Project Explorer.

Version 6.01.21 [3/5/98]

    1. Changed the wording on the General Project Data input report for the equipmentper area to Watts per square foot instead of Btuh per square feet.
    2. Also changed the wording from "feet" to "foot" on the General Project Datainput report where appropriate.
    3. Included the file DBGRID32.OCX in the full setup.  The ModelView programthat the setup installs needs this file.

Version 6.01.20 [3/5/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where the note about using fast peak determination was shownon load profile reports even when fast peak determination was not used.
    2. Added detailed progress indicators during the creation of air handler summaryreports and air handler psychrometric reports.

Version 6.01.19 [3/5/98]

    1. Fixed a bug that had been introduced into version 6.01.18 (not released)where the heating infiltration and heating ventilation CFM and loads wouldalways be zero on systems where the calculation option for that systemhad been set to heating only.
    2. Changed the name of the default air handler from "Draw Thru Fan" to "Default",in order to make it clear whenever the default air handler has been pastedinto a user’s air handler.
    3. Changed the "Incomplete Air Handler Data" message box that appears wheneverbeginning to calculate a project that has any air handlers in use thatdon’t have valid Cooling Coil or Heating Coil conditions entered. The default button is now the "No" button instead of the "Yes" button.

 Version 6.01.18 [3/4/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where the plenum loads were not being reported correctly onthe psychrometric report in projects where there was more than one system.
    2. Fixed a bug where a project exported as a DOS CHVAC file would have theopposite value that the Windows project had for the "Exhaust may exceedsupply at the zone level" input.
    3. Fixed a bug in the system duct size calculations where the CFM throughthe main trunk duct and the temperature inside the main trunk duct wasalways being assumed to be that of the group scenario (there is usuallyonly a slight difference between the system CFM and duct temperature ofthe group calculation and those of the zone calculation).
    4. Added a "Use fast peak determination" checkbox to the "Properties of PrintPreview" window.  Checking this box will cause CHVAC to quickly estimatethe anticipated peak hours and months by comparing the zone loads, plenumloads, and expected ventilation loads of each system.  Selecting thisoption will significantly reduce the required calculation time for projectswith many air handlers.  Having this box unchecked will cause CHVACto fully calculate all the total air system loads for each system beforedetermining the actual peak time.  NOTE: If you check the "Use fastpeak determination" checkbox, any load profiles generated at the Air Handleror Building level will only report the load at the peak hour and month. All the other profiles will be zero.
    5. In addition to the above mentioned "Use fast peak determination" feature, the calculation and report-generating times even when not using fast peakdetermination have been significantly reduced.
    6. Modified the calculation of the entering heating coil temperature so thatthe effect of the return duct temperature drop and the return plenum heatingloss is proportional to the amount of air being recirculated back intothe system.  Now, if the heating system is 100% outside air, the enteringheating coil temperature shown on the psychrometric report will be thesame as the Winter outside air temperature.

Version 6.01.17 [2/27/98]

    1. Fixed a bug of version 6.01.15 and 6.01.16 (which were never released)where not all the loads for all the design months were being read for eachair handler when calculating air system loads.

Version 6.01.16 [2/26/98]

    1. Changed the conversion of DOS project files so that roofs, walls and glassitems for zones and partitions are always ignored unless the DOS projecthad a number greater than zero entered for the type.

Version 6.01.15 [2/26/98]

    1. Optimized the air system calculation code to speed it up.  On a testproject with 5 zones and 5 air handlers, calculation and reporting timeshowed a speed improvement of about 30%.
    2. Fixed a bug where if an air handler was set to heating only or if all thezones in the air handler were set to heating only, the Psychrometric reportwould not show correct values for that system.
    3. Changed the file reading from ASCII to Binary on the CLTD, MSHGF and othervalues read in at the beginning of the program and upon changing the Unitsoption in order to increase the speed.

Version 6.01.14 [2/19/98]

    1. Changed the behavior of the Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window whenusing metric units so that when a city is selected from the weather databasethe values in the database are converted to metric unit values and copiedonto the Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window.
    2. Made the background color of page header that appears at the top of everyreport (except the title page) user-definable.  Every color but blackwill work.

Version 6.01.13  [2/16/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where if the Report Calculation Ranges on the Properties ofPrint Preview window were changed to anything less than the default (allthe zones), subsequent prints or previews immediately following the restrictedpreview or print in which the range was not changed from the default (allzones) would incorrectly still exclude those air systems which had beenexcluded in the previous run.

Version 6.01.12 [2/16/98]

    1. Fixed a bug in the Find HVAC Equipment window where if the list was re-sortedby clicking on one of the first two (alphabetic) columns, the Select function(also double-click) would not copy the correct model onto the Air HandlerData window.
    2. Made a slight adjustment to the calculation of infiltration loads at theair system level.  On the Building Summary Report, the middle section(Building Summary) would sometimes have %Total columns that added up tomore than 100.00% if a project had any infiltration loads.
    3. Added the ability to import the new, extra text from AUDIT’s sales proposal.
    4. Fixed an error 9, Subscript out of range, that could occur when findingrectangular duct sizes if the height and other constraints made it so thecalculated width would exceed the maximum schedule entry.
    5. Eliminated some possible causes of Overflow errors (error 6).

Version 6.01.11 [2/3/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where if both the Zone Data and Plenum Data windows were bothopen at the same time, the Glass Reference drop-down help window wouldnot always refill itself with the roof and wall data of the current window.

Version 6.01.10  [2/3/98]

    1. Fixed several occurrences of a problem where a drop-down help window wouldnot have anything in its list if a project windows which uses that helpwindow was unloaded while a different project window that also uses thathelp window was still loaded.  This would happen with the help windowsshared by the General Project Data, Zone Data Air Handler Data and PlenumData windows (Operating Profiles help window, Roof Type help window, WallType help window, Glass Type help window, etc.).

Version 6.01.9 [2/3/98]

    1. Fixed a bug on the "Find HVAC Equipment" window that would display a messagebox after the first time the helpbutton on the Model Type input was clicked.
    2. Corrected the action of the Enter key on the "Plenum Data" window and the"Print Preview" windows.
    3. Added thousands separators to the y-axis labels on the load profiles graphs.

    2. Added an option to the "Customize Toolbar" window to make the toolbar buttonslarge.

Version 6.01.7 [2/2/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where if the user's company name had an ampersand in it, itwould show up as a double ampersand on the About box.
    2. Added the current project filename to the abortwindow that appears whenprinting a set of reports.  This filename also appears in the Printerswindow to show the name of the current document that is being printed.
    3. Corrected the spelling for the country of Colombia (from "Columbia").
    4. Fixed a bug where the "No. Diffusers" input on the Zone Data window wasnot being saved.
    5. Added the ability to go to a specific record number (zone, air handler, material database item, etc.) by typing in the number you want to go to.
    6. Made the Find HVAC Equipment window automatically default to a correctsort of model type for cooling or heating even when no model type was selectedon the Air Handler Data window when going to the Find HVAC Equipment byclicking a helpbutton on the Air Handler Data window.
    7. Fixed a bug where some of the combohelp windows would not refill with projectdata upon opening another project while a project window was open.
    8. Corrected the way the splash window picture looks when the operating systemdisplay is set to large fonts.

Version 6.01.6 [1/26/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where evaluating a project (or calculating loads) would sometimescause a "Subscript out of Range" error.
    2. Fixed a bug where the "Building Loads (G)" and "Air Handler Loads (G)"checkboxes for pie charts on the "Properties of Print Preview" window wouldnot always be checked even if they had been checked the last time thatwindow had been open.
    3. Added another precaution (in addition to the one in 6.01.5) to avoid theprogram staying in memory after it has been closed.

Version 6.01.5 [1/21/98]

    1. Fixed a bug on the plenum data window where right-clicking on the roofinputs would not bring up the program's Edit menu; it would instead showthe default edit menu provided by the operating system.
    2. Fixed a bug which would allow the program to usually remain in memory afterclosing the program, if the compass on the right-hand side of the "RotateZones and Plenums" window had ever been clicked.

Version 6.01.4 [1/20/98]

    1. Optimized some of the calculation code.

Version 6.01.3 [1/13/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where the "Tip of the Day" window would always show the sametip each time it was opened.

Version 6.01.2 [1/13/98]

    1. Fixed a bug where a few of the combohelp windows could remain visible evenafter moving the form containing the combohelp window's input control.
    2. Fixed an unnecessary project file database conversion (i.e. "Previous VersionDetected") which took place whenever starting a new project, opening aDOS CHVAC project, or opening a newly created project.
    3. Corrected the handling of negative sensible and latent equipment loads. A negative latent load at the system level is now ignored when calculatingthe tonnage and a note has been added to the Check Figures section of theAir Handler Summary report whenever the latent load is negative. Systems with negative tonnages are ignored at the Building level as wellas all items within such systems when calculating the contribution of eachkind of item on the Building Load Summary report.  The top sectionof the Building Load Summary report has been corrected to properly accountfor negative loads combined with the safety factor when showing the contributionof each kind of item so that the total gain column should always come outto 100%.
    4. Corrected the way some CHVAC version 4 project files were being read andconverted.
    5. Modified the conversion of DOS CHVAC project files so that the height ofthe wall will remain at zero if the wall had zero for its wall type. The DOS program would allow walls which didn't have a type to have a heightentered.  Also made it so when a DOS project's roof is converted theheight and width will not be carried over unless the roof type is greaterthan zero.
    6. Fixed a bug in the Building Load Summary Report where if the building hadany systems which had Reheat selected as the excess supply air option, the middle section of the report ("Building Summary") would not includethe Reheat sensible gain in with the Zone Loads row, thus making the totalcome up to less than 100%.  This is the only part of the reports thatthis error affected.
    7. Corrected the calculation of plenum credit so that the area exposed tozones for a plenum is now divided into the cooling area exposed to thezones and the heating area exposed to zones in order to correctly calculatethe plenum loads for projects which have some zones which are heating onlyor cooling only.
    8. Fixed a Type Mismatch error that would occur when creating pie charts forair handlers or groups.
    9. Added client and company information to the title page and made the textadjust itself on the page if there is no picture.  Also made the picturecompress if necessary to fit within a certain space on the title page.

Version 6.01.1 [12/27/97]

    1. Added a taskbar to the main window which displays a button for each openwindow and provides a convenient way to switch from one open window toanother.
