NEW FEATURES / BUG FIXES:
(Here are the changes at each version level. The above update contains all of these)
Version 6.03.4 [5/10/99]
-
Added the system's entered winter indoor dry bulb temperature to the right-hand side of
the Project Explorer.
-
Fixed a bug on the Air Handler Data window where the main trunk and runout duct shapes
were always being saved as round.
-
Fixed a bug in the Fla/Com file export feature where an error 9, subscript
out of range, could occur if there were zones in the project that had the
Occurrences input set to zero.
-
On the Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window, made it so if a cooling month
is not set to "(None)" and has a zero entered for the indoor or outdoor temperatures,
the month will be ignored and an error will be listed in the "Evaluation of Project"
and "Evaluation of Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions" windows.
-
Added the ability to quickly copy the program's license file from the license
disk to the program folder by pressing Ctrl+Shift+L while the "About CHVAC"
window is open.
Version 6.03.3 [4/29/99]
-
Corrected the calculation of enthalpy when the program is set to Metric units.
The conversion to Metric of a value of specific enthalpy given in English units has
to account for the fact that the point of zero enthalpy is different for English than
it is for Metric. In English, the temperature value corresponding to zero enthalpy is
0 degrees F, while in Metric units the temperature value corresponding to zero enthalpy
is 0 degrees C, which is not the same temperature. The correct formula for the
conversion is: kJ/kg = Btu/lb * 2.326 - 17.7778.
-
Modified the way the program finds maximum solar heat gain factors (MSHGF) so that an
actual table lookup is performed when the glass direction is at one of the 16 compass
points (in addition to the other qualifications for table lookup). The program had only
been doing a table lookup when the direction was on one of the 8 compass points and
calculating MSHGF on all other directions.
-
Fixed a bug on the detailed zone loads report where if a glass were 100% shaded, the
sensible gain for the glass would be listed as zero. This problem affected only this
one line of this one report. The glass solar gain was being correctly accounted for
in the load of the zone, air handler and building.
Version 6.03.2 [4/26/99]
-
Fixed a bug introduced in 6.03.1 that prevented the U-Factor Calculator and
RHVAC programs from being able to run on the same computer as CHVAC 6.03.1.
-
Added back three helptext files that had been inadvertently removed from the
version 6.03.1 full installation (Help0022.Dat, Help0030.Dat and Help0220.Dat).
Version 6.03.1 [4/22/99]
-
Added a check to the calculations to prevent a fatal error 6 that would
occur if the leaving cooling coil relative humidity was specified instead
of the leaving cooling coil temperature and if the relative humidity entered
was too low. Now, if the system inputs are like this, such a system is
simply marked as unsolvable and yields all zero results.
-
Corrected the placement of points and processes on the Psychrometric Chart
Report when the Units option is set to metric.
-
Corrected the units shown for enthalpy on the Psychrometric Report when
the Units option is set to metric. The units had been shown as Btu/lbm,
but they are actually in kJ/kg.
-
Corrected the formatting of the last column on the equations shown on the
General Psychrometric Equations section of the Psychrometric Report when the
Units option is set to metric.
-
Corrected the dropdown help for the plenum floor u-factor on the Plenum Data
window. The help had suggested 0.31 as a typical u-factor for acoustic
ceiling tile, but that value was given in Btu/(hr * ft² * ºF) instead
of W/(m² * ºC). The conversion factor is 5.6783. The suggested value is
now therefore changed to 1.76 (since 0.31 * 5.6783 = 1.76).
Version 6.03.0 [2/19/99]- Fixed a bug where the calculation of the main trunk duct size was usingthe peak month of the incorrect air handler number.
- Fixed a bug where if the Project Title, Client Name, etc. entered on theGeneral Project Data window was greater than 29 characters long and theproject was exported to a Fla/Com 97 file, the Fla/Com 97 program wouldlock up when trying to open the file. Now all such text is cut offat 29 characters when it is exported to a Fla/Com 97 file.
- Made it so this version, 6.03.0, is now required to be installed priorto whatever versions happen to come after 6.03.0. Note that thereis no update installation that will update a current user of CHVAC to version6.03.0. The full installation of 6.03.0 now serves as the updateinstallation.
Version 6.02.25 [2/11/99]- Fixed a bug where a system set to heating loads only could have all zeroresults for the heating loads if the 'Use fast peak determination' optionwas unchecked and certain other factors were present.
- Corrected the heading on the Air Handler Load Summary report where it wouldsay "Act.CFM" instead of "Act.L/s" when the program was set to metric units.
Version 6.02.24 [1/22/99]- Fixed a bug that could sometimes cause a fatal error 9, subscript out ofrange, when calculating the amount of shading on a glass that has a shadereference.
- Corrected a miscalculation on the amount of infiltration to be added atthe system level for zones that occur multiple times and that have infiltrationspecified at either the zone or system level.
Version 6.02.23 [1/19/99]- Made changes to eliminate an illegal operation that could occur when clickingon the down arrow for a dropdown help window.
Version 6.02.22 [1/8/99]- Fixed a problem that developed in version 6.02.20 where the backgroundof the main window would not fully paint itself if the background was setto display a picture.
Version 6.02.20 [1/7/99]- Fixed a problem where if leaving coil relative humidity had been specifiedfor a system and that relative humidity was not possible, the program wouldsimply give up on that system and mark it as being unsolvable. Nowthe program will revert to using leaving coil dry bulb temperature andcontinue to try to solve the system.
- Added a psychrometric chart report to the Print Preview reports. A chart can now be printed that shows the various state points and processesused in each cooling system.
Version 6.02.19 [12/18/98]- Corrected a problem where if a miscellaneous supply-side gain had beenentered the formula on the Air Handler Total Load Summary report that showshow the supply CFM was calculated did not include the miscellaneous gain.
Version 6.02.18 [12/17/98]- Added miscellaneous supply gain and miscellaneous return gain to the TotalBuilding Summary report. If either of these items were in the project, the % Total columns on this report did not include them and would thusnot add up to 100%. In the Building Summary section of this report, these items are now included in the "Fan and Duct Loads" row.
Version 6.02.17 [12/16/98]- Added miscellaneous supply gain and miscellaneous return gain to the airhandler Total Load Summary report. These items were already includedin the total, but were just not included on the report.
Version 6.02.16 [12/15/98]- Made it so the project file will be in a state of needing to be saved afterthe program has updated it to be compatible with PsyChart.
- Modified the About Box.
Version 6.02.15 [12/14/98]- Fixed a bug that would cause an error 6, Overflow, when a wall had a directionentered of 360 degrees.
- Corrected the text on the Building Envelope report from "Envlope" to "Envelope".
- Removed the "Print to file" checkbox and disabled the "Selection" optionbutton on the Print dialog, since those items are not supported.
- Increased an internal constraint in the air system calculations to allowthe program to solve for air systems that take may take longer to solve. This change affects air handlers where the leaving coil relative humidityhas been specified instead of the leaving coil dry bulb.
- Changed the number of people displayed on the detailed zone loads reportso that only one decimal place is printed.
- Modified the project file so that the pertinent data is available for theElite Software PsyChart program.
Version 6.02.14 [11/13/98]- Corrected the line on the Air Handler Input report that shows whether theexhaust air for the zones in an air handler can exceed the zone supplyair or not. The report was showing the opposite of what it oughtto show. The calculation routines were using the correct value, however.
- Corrected the duct air velocity units displayed on the Air Handler SummaryLoads report. When set to English units, the report said "ft/s",but the velocities shown are actually in ft/minute.
- Changed the Check Figures section of the reports when the program is setto metric units. This section now shows quantities in kW as wellas tons, similar to the way it was done in MHVAC.
Version 6.02.13 [10/15/98- Made the filename in the Save As dialog boxes for exporting a CHVAC DOSproject file and Fla/Com 97 project file not include the path, since thefolder is already set on those dialogs.
- Corrected the exporting of CHVAC DOS project files so that they can thenbe imported into Elite Software's EZDOE program without error and withouthaving to open them in CHVAC DOS beforehand.
- Added the ability to export a PowerDOE project file.
Version 6.02.12 [6/29/98]- Fixed an installation problem that was in version 6.02.11.
- Corrected a problem with a menu item from version 6.02.11.
Version 6.02.11 (not released) [6/29/98]- Corrected the display of units for the sound rating of HVAC system equipmentfrom "dB" to "Bels".
- Fixed a bug that would cause an error 6, Overflow, after entering the upgradepassword on a computer that has its regional settings set so that the commaand decimal are reversed from those of "English (United States)".
- Corrected the line on the Air Handler Load Summary report that shows theformula for the calculation of cooling supply CFM. The calculationswere correct, but the sensible gain shown at the beginning of the formulawas slightly off.
- Fixed a bug that would allow the mousepointer to remain an hourglass atstartup if the Tip of the Day window was set to display at startup butthe Project Explorer window was not.
- Added the word "cooling" to the dropdown help on the Minimum Supply CFMinputs on the Zone Data window in order to indicate that those inputs canonly affect the cooling side.
- Added a new checkbox, "Use today's date on title page" to the Propertiesof Print Preview window. When the box is checked, today's date isused on the title page; when unchecked, whatever was entered in the "Date"input on the General Project Data window is used.
Version 6.02.10 [6/29/98]
- Fixed a bug where clicking on the splash window or pressing a key whilethe splash window was displayed but before the main window was displayedwould cause the splash window to unload then display again, then unloadagain after the program finished loading.
- Fixed a bug where the "Recall Previous" selection for the "Starting previewzoom amount" option would only set the zoom to Page Width.
- Fixed a bug introduced in version 6.02.9 where it was possible to get afatal error "Object variable or With block variable not set."
- Fixed a bug in the exporting of a DOS project where the exported zone minimumsupply CFM would only be correct in DOS CHVAC if the zone minimum supplyCFM option in Windows CHVAC was set to Direct.
Version 6.02.9 [6/26/98]
- Fixed a bug where deleting a zone from a Project Explorer under certaincircumstances would not always set the project in a state where it needsto be recalculated before generating reports.
- Fixed a bug on the Building Summary report where the rules for includingloads from systems with negative sensible or latent gains were not alwaysbeing applied correctly.
- Added a measure to prevent a fatal locking up problem that occasionallyhappened under Windows NT when certain windows were open and the program'staskbar was visible.
Version 6.02.8 (not released) [6/25/98]
- Corrected the exporting of DOS CHVAC projects that have "Direct CFM" selectedfor any of the outside air options. Now "0" is filled in for theinfiltration or ventilation method instead of "4".
Version 6.02.7 (not released) [6/25/98]
- Improved the appearance of the splash window under certain circumstances.
- Changed the pretreated air temperature inputs on the Air Handler Data windowto allow up to 4 decimal places. Also changed the summer and winterindoor design temperature inputs on the Air Handler Data window and theIndoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window to allow up to 4 decimal places.
- Fixed a bug where the mousepointer would remain an hourglass after openinga file by drag-and-drop.
- Fixed a bug where if the project indoor temperature or indoor relativehumidity had been overridden at the air handler level, the calculationof outside air latent gain would be incorrect.
- Corrected several problems with the exporting of DOS CHVAC project files. Wall heights left as zero in Windows CHVAC are now filled in with the defaultnumber in the exported project; only air handlers with zones in them arenow exported instead of all 100 (this also goes for plenums); blank masterroofs and walls exported are now not marked as invalid in the DOS program.
Version 6.02.6 [6/19/98]
- Fixed a bug introduced in 6.02.3 (not released) where the Evaluation ofProject window would not appear.

- Fixed a bug where if a system has pretreated air for cooling and thereare any return-side loads, the Psychrometric report's TLH check figurewould not be correct.
- Reduced the processor time required by the program when in an idle state.
Version 6.02.3 (not released) [6/15/98]
- Fixed a bug where if any of the project windows were open while attemptingto open a project that has more zones than the current level of the programallows, the project window(s) would be left on the desktop but the projecttoolbar buttons and menus would be disabled.
- Corrected an error that could occur while converting some DOS projects.
- Fixed a bug where the menu "Add Air Handler Node" that appears after right-clickingon a building node of a Project Explorer would not always work.
- Fixed a bug on the New Project dialog where double-clicking on a blankpart of the box in which the templates and projects are shown would closethe dialog as if the Cancel button had been clicked.
- Changed the Report Calculation Ranges inputs on the Properties of PrintPreview window from drop-down lists to text inputs with drop-down helpwindows. Made the list of allowable Air Handler numbers only includethose Air Handlers that have zones in them (instead of filling the listup with all 100 air handlers).
- Changed the Zone Input reports so that only the zones that are within systemsthat are turned on and included in the Beginning and Ending Air Handlerinputs will be listed in the reports.
- Added an "Import From CHVAC" window that allows importing large amountsof data from another project.
- Corrected the Building Envelope Report to only include those items thatare within zones that are within air handlers that are turned on and includedin the Beginning and Ending Air Handler inputs.
- Optimized some of the code for many of the windows, including Zone Data,Plenum Data, Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions and Weather Database.
- Reduced the memory requirements of the program.
Version 6.02.2 [6/8/98]

- Fixed a bug on the Options window with the new placement of the "LightFonts" checkbox, where the Apply button was not being enabled or effectinga change from that checkbox correctly.
- Made the horizontal slider bar on the Preview part of the New Project dialogremember its position from the last time that dialog was opened.
- Fixed a bug where the hourglass mousepointer was not being displayed whilesaving a project template or while restoring the previous desktop.
Version 6.02.1 (not released) [6/8/98]
- Fixed a bug that would occur when generating group-type reports (thosenoted as (G) on the Properties of Print Preview window) where the calculationof group quantities was not taking into account zones that occurred multipletimes.
- Added a "New Project" dialog that provides the choice of starting a newproject as either a blank project, a copy of an existing project in theProjects folder, or a copy of a Template file in the new Templates folder. Also added a new menu item "File|Save As Template" to enable saving thecurrent project as a template file with the extension "CHT".
Version 6.02.0 [6/3/98]
- Fixed a bug on the "Rotate Zones & Plenums" window where walls withdirections entered as a compass point (such as "NW" or "SSE") would notbe rotated correctly.
Version 6.01.47 [5/30/98]
- Fixed a bug where after deleting Zones on a Project Explorer window a fatalerror "This item's control has been deleted" could occur. Also correctedthe way the Project Explorer toolbar is enabled and disabled when deletingzones.
- Increased the speed of going from zone to zone on the Zone Data windowas well as the speed of displaying the window initially.
- Increased the speed of moving the cursor by using the Enter key.
Version 6.01.46 [5/29/98]
- Fixed a bug where the program would encounter a fatal error 380, "Invalidproperty value" in certain places on a machine where the font "Small Fonts"was not installed.
Version 6.01.45 (not released) [5/29/98]- Added error handling to try to track down the problem that was later solvedin version 6.01.46.
Version 6.01.44 [5/28/98]
- Corrected the way the program handles systems with negative sensible and/orlatent gains at the building level. Negative system latent gainsare ignored at the building level; negative sensible gains are countedat the building level only when the system has a positive latent gain thatis greater in magnitude than the sensible gain.
- Corrected the way pretreated air gains are handled when there are negativeloads. The pretreated sensible and latent gains or sensible lossare now handled separately from the corresponding system loads when determiningtheir contribution to the building load. The same rules listed in(1) above now apply to the pretreated loads independent of the system loads.
- Fixed a bug that would occur when there were people in a zone that hada negative total sensible gain if there was a people diversity factor lessthan 100 entered for the project and there was a safety factor greaterthan zero for the zone. The reduction of the people gain at the systemlevel due to the diversity factor was not accounting for the negative totalsensible gain of the zone and was thus applying the safety factor incorrectly.
Version 6.01.43 [5/25/98]- Corrected a problem with registering the printer control in version 6.01.42(not released).
- Fixed a problem in the installation programs (both full and update) wherethe U-Factor Calculator could be installed onto the C: drive while anotherdrive had been specified for installing CHVAC. A dialog for selectingthe U-Factor Calculator directory has been added to the installation programs.
Version 6.01.42 [5/25/98]
- Fixed a bug where too low of a number could be entered in the "Line Spacing"input on the "Properties of Print Preview" window.
- Fixed a bug that would cause an error 402 under the following circumstances:(1) the program was opened by double-clicking on a project file; (2) the"Tip of the Day" window was set to show at program startup; (3) the "Restoreprevious window layout upon opening project" option was turned on; (4)the Air Handler Data window had been open the last time a project had beenopen.
- Fixed a bug on the Weather Database window where the month informationwas not always being saved correctly and where the months were sometimesbeing duplicated onto other rows when scrolling through the different months.
- Added a feature to the Roof inputs on the "Zone Data" window so that whena number is entered for the roof type, the roof length and width will automaticallybe filled in to match the zone's length and width.
- Fixed a bug where the heating ventilation did not show up on the buildingand air handler pie charts.
- Fixed a bug where the "Edit|Undo" menu didn't work when running on WindowsNT.
- Fixed a bug where the captions on the ventilation and infiltration optionbuttonson the Zone Data window would be so long that the text could wrap and makethe caption illegible.
- Fixed a bug in the full installation program where the shortcuts for CHVACand the U-Factor Calculator would get installed into a different groupthan the Readme.doc shortcut under Windows NT.
Version 6.01.41 [5/4/98]
- Corrected the problem where the report font sizes could change after havingchanged the regional settings.
Version 6.01.40 [5/1/98]
- Added another check to make sure the report font size was not too largeafter having changed the computer's regional settings.
- Fixed a fatal error 380 that would occur when trying to preview reportsafter having changed the regional settings in a certain way.
- Fixed a fatal Type Mismatch that would occur when trying to preview reportsafter having changed the regional settings in a certain way.
Version 6.01.39 [5/1/98]
- Added a check to make sure the report font size was not too large afterhaving changed the computer's regional settings.
- Removed the decimal places from the labels that display the default ceilingarea under plenum, lighting Watts and equipment Watts.
- Changed the number formatting on the lighting and equipment Watts and glassu-factor dropdown help windows in order to accomodate regional settingswhere the comma and decimal are reversed.
Version 6.01.38 [4/30/98]
- Accommodated regional settings other than "English (United States)" byallowing a comma to be used as the decimal separator.
Version 6.01.37 [4/25/98]
- Fixed a bug that could cause an error 9, "Subscript out of range", whengenerating the detailed zone load report for a plenum within a system whosenumber is higher than the highest zone number in the project. Alsoin the plenum sections of the detailed zone loads report, removed the notationabout which profile was used for the plenum's lighting gain, since anycombination of lighting profiles could have been used in the various zonesunder the plenum.
- Corrected the way the program handles plenum heating or cooling loads withinsystems that have their calculation option set one way while any of thezones within that system have their calculation option set another way. For example, if all the zones within a system are set to cooling only, the program will treat the system as cooling only with respect to how itdeals with the plenum load, regardless of what the calculation option wasset to on the system window. In other words, the program now resetsthe calculation option for the system (as far as plenum calculations areconcerned) according to the calculation option settings of the variouszones within the system. This correction should eliminate the possibilityof the top section of the Building Load Summary report not adding up tothe exact same numbers as the middle ("Building Summary") section of thatreport. It also should eliminate the possibility on the Air HandlerTotal Load Summary report of the plenum sensible loss being non-zero ina system where all the zones are set to cooling only (the same goes forplenum sensible gain when all zones are set to heating only).
Version 6.01.36 [4/25/98]
- Fixed a bug that would cause an error 457, "This key is already associatedwith an element of this collection", to occur when closing the programby right-clicking on the background of the main window while no projectwas open and then clicking the "Exit" menu.
- Increased the width of the inputs on the Main tab of the Air Handler Datawindow. Also increased the width of the Miscellaneous Gain inputson the Misc tab.
- Fixed a bug that made the sensible gain and latent gain columns in theASCII output file always have zeroes in them for each zone or group.
- Fixed a bug where if a plenum had a negative sensible gain, the peak hourand month would not be calculated for that plenum. This caused thedetailed zone and plenum loads report to show "(None)" for the peak timeand to show zero for sensible and latent gains of items in that plenum.
- Fixed a bug that could occur on the Building Load Summary report, whereif a plenum's total gain or loss happened to be negative and the systemor the zone had a safety factor, the contribution of the lighting gainfrom that plenum would be incorrect.
- Fixed a bug that could occur on the Building Load Summary (G) report, whereif there were no (Z) type reports selected, the Equipment line would notinclude gains from equipment in the plenums.
- Added a line to the Building Load Summary report to account for the casewhen safety factors have been specified and there is a negative total gainor loss for a zone or plenum. Normally, the Plenum load in the zones offsetsthe Plenum Credit for the plenum, but when negative loads are combinedwith safety factors, the Plenum Credit and Plenum load in the zone willnot necessarily cancel each other out. This is because when the safetyfactor is applied to a negative total gain or loss for a zone or plenum, that total becomes less negative, thus making the calculation of the contributionof individual items within that zone or plenum somewhat more involved. The new line is identified as "Plenum Adj.", for Plenum Adjustment.
- Fixed a bug on the top section of the Building Load Summary report wherethe contribution due to latent equipment was not taking the equipment profilesfor zones into account.
- On the Detailed Zone Loads report, moved the line that shows the Plenumload (for the zones) and the Plenum Credit (for the plenums) up to thetop. This line had been below the lines showing roofs.
- On the Detailed Zone Loads report for plenums, split the Plenum Creditline into two rows in order to prevent the "Area" column from wrapping. The rows are now titled "Pl.Credit Cool." and "Pl.Credit Heat.".
Version 6.01.35 [4/16/98]
- Made the program's taskbar update the captions of its buttons to matchthe captions of the windows if the windows' captions happen to change.
- Added the ability to launch the U-Factor Calculator from the "Define Master[Component]" window.
- Optimized some of the zone evaluation, zone calculation and other code.
Version 6.01.34 [4/14/98]
- Modified the U-Factor Calculator program and related code.
Version 6.01.33 [4/13/98]
- Added the U-Factor Calculator program.
Version 6.01.32 [4/10/98]
- If the estimated number of report pages exceeds the maximum (1,000), addeda note to the memory requirement warning message box to indicate the maximumnumber of report pages possible.
- Fixed a bug that would cause an Overflow error when trying to preview ablank project.
- Fixed a bug that would cause a fatal “Invalid use of Null” error afterentering a glass type or a wall type on the Zone Data or Plenum Data windowsif the Master Data window had not been opened. This error would alsooccur if the Master Data window had been opened, but the number enteredon the Zone Data or Plenum Data window exceeded the highest number of MasterGlass or Master Wall items that had been scrolled to on the Master Datawindow.
- Included the new help file with the installation. It is only includedwith the full installation setup – not the Chvac601.exe update setup.
Version 6.01.31 [4/6/98]

- Added detailed progress indicators during the generation of more of thereports, such as the detailed zone loads report, the zone load profiles, etc.
- Fixed a bug where a subscript out of range would occur if the Group PieChart report was selected for a Print Preview while there was not alsosome other report selected that included the Group type of calculation.
- Improved the accuracy of the approximate number of report pages to be generatedin order to determine whether or not to display the memory requirementwarning.
Version 6.01.30 [4/6/98]
- Fixed a bug that would cause an Overflow error during calculation for anyproject with over 113 zones or so.
Version 6.01.29 [4/1/98]
- Fixed a bug that would allow there to be a "Print Preview 0" (zero) window.
- Fixed a bug that would generate a pie chart report page for zones withina system whose number of occurrences was set to zero.
- Fixed a bug where the total of the zones' cooling supply CFM on the AirHandler Summary Loads report was not accounting for zones that occurredmultiple times.
Version 6.01.28 [4/1/98]
- Added a feature from DOS CHVAC to give credit for the shading devices foreast-facing glass. The glass load multipliers for east facing glassare normally high in the afternoon hours because the assumption is madethat there would be a large thermal buildup due to the sunlight strikingthe glass in the morning. However, if there is a shading device abovean east-facing window such that the glass is always at least partiallyshaded from the sun in the morning, the heat being carried into the afternoonwill not be as much as if the glass were not shaded. The programnow gives credit for shading devices installed on east-facing glass whenthe zone happens to peak later in the day by reporting the glass as beingshaded by the same amount as the minimum percent shaded that occurred duringthe morning hours. This feature applies to glass facing from 45 degrees(NE) to 135 degrees (SE).
Version 6.01.27 [3/31/98]
- Changed the version of the file MhRun32.dll that gets installed with thesetup program. The previous version seemed to be responsible forillegal operations especially when there was a Print Preview window open.
- Fixed a bug in the shading calculations where windows with a quantity greaterthan one were not reporting correct values for the amount of glass thatis shaded (this problem only happened with glass items that had a shadingdevice).
Version 6.01.26 [3/28/98]
- Changed the function of the heating and cooling Direct CFM inputs on theAir Handler Data window. Previously, a value entered here would beassigned to each zone in the system, causing the total system ventilationCFM to equal the entered Direct CFM multiplied by the number of zones inthe system. Now, selecting the Direct CFM option will instead assignthe entered CFM value to the entire system. (Note that a Direct CFMof cooling infiltration had already been functioning in this manner, butthat choosing Direct CFM for heating infiltration had also been assigningthe entered CFM value to each zone in the system. Now, a Direct CFMentered for heating is also assigned to the entire system.)
- Widened the inputs for ventilation and infiltration values on the Air HandlerData and Zone Data windows.
- Optimized some of the reporting code.
Version 6.01.25 [3/24/98]
- Fixed a bug where selecting “Air changes per hour” for the Minimum SupplyCFM Option on the Zone Data window would not calculate the correct CFMif the program was set to English (IP) units.
Version 6.01.24 [3/19/98]
- Fixed a bug where trying to export a project as a Fla/Com file withoutever having evaluated the zones or previewed a report would cause a non-fatalerror 9 and would prevent the Fla/Com file from being created.
- Simplified the process of finding and selecting HVAC equipment by eliminatingthe model types “Natural Gas Or Propane Furnace” and “Natural Gas Or PropaneBoiler”. Now, for example, when searching for a natural gas furnace, the Find HVAC Equipment window will search the database for both unitsthat are listed as natural gas and as natural gas/propane.
- Changed the numbers in the popup help window for sensible and latent heatper person. The numbers in the list had been that of the 1985 ASHRAEhandbook instead of the 1989. Now the numbers are those listed inthe 1989 (as well as the 1997) Handbook.
- Increased the speed of the shading calculations. Projects where shadingdevices are used can perform the zone calculations significantly fasternow.
Version 6.01.23 [3/11/98]
- Fixed a bug where opening the Air Handler Data window would always makethe project appear to have been changed and thus in need of saving.
- Fixed a bug where the combohelp window that lists the air handler nameswould sometimes not have any items in it when going from one project toanother while certain project windows were open.
- Changed the duct sizing code to assign a width of 1 instead of zero torectangular ducts where the width had been calculated to be close to zero.
- Fixed a bug where if the user changed the duct schedule to have all zerosafter the project had just been evaluated, the zones in that system couldall still be set to use the invalid schedule instead ignoring the scheduleas the error messages says (“…Schedule will be ignored”). Zones wouldthen incorrectly report zero for all sizes instead of calculating withoutusing the schedule.
Version 6.01.22 [3/11/98]
- Fixed a bug where having the duct minimum height set to a non-zero valuecould cause the program to encounter an error 9.
- Added an option to allow opening a project by double clicking its nodein a Project Explorer.
- Made the “Project Explorer Nodes>” and “Project Explorer Toolbar>” menusdisabled except when the active form is a Project Explorer.
Version 6.01.21 [3/5/98]
- Changed the wording on the General Project Data input report for the equipmentper area to Watts per square foot instead of Btuh per square feet.
- Also changed the wording from “feet” to “foot” on the General Project Datainput report where appropriate.
- Included the file DBGRID32.OCX in the full setup. The ModelView programthat the setup installs needs this file.
Version 6.01.20 [3/5/98]
- Fixed a bug where the note about using fast peak determination was shownon load profile reports even when fast peak determination was not used.
- Added detailed progress indicators during the creation of air handler summaryreports and air handler psychrometric reports.
Version 6.01.19 [3/5/98]
- Fixed a bug that had been introduced into version 6.01.18 (not released)where the heating infiltration and heating ventilation CFM and loads wouldalways be zero on systems where the calculation option for that systemhad been set to heating only.
- Changed the name of the default air handler from “Draw Thru Fan” to “Default”,in order to make it clear whenever the default air handler has been pastedinto a user’s air handler.
- Changed the “Incomplete Air Handler Data” message box that appears wheneverbeginning to calculate a project that has any air handlers in use thatdon’t have valid Cooling Coil or Heating Coil conditions entered. The default button is now the “No” button instead of the “Yes” button.
Version 6.01.18 [3/4/98]
- Fixed a bug where the plenum loads were not being reported correctly onthe psychrometric report in projects where there was more than one system.
- Fixed a bug where a project exported as a DOS CHVAC file would have theopposite value that the Windows project had for the “Exhaust may exceedsupply at the zone level” input.
- Fixed a bug in the system duct size calculations where the CFM throughthe main trunk duct and the temperature inside the main trunk duct wasalways being assumed to be that of the group scenario (there is usuallyonly a slight difference between the system CFM and duct temperature ofthe group calculation and those of the zone calculation).
- Added a “Use fast peak determination” checkbox to the “Properties of PrintPreview” window. Checking this box will cause CHVAC to quickly estimatethe anticipated peak hours and months by comparing the zone loads, plenumloads, and expected ventilation loads of each system. Selecting thisoption will significantly reduce the required calculation time for projectswith many air handlers. Having this box unchecked will cause CHVACto fully calculate all the total air system loads for each system beforedetermining the actual peak time. NOTE: If you check the "Use fastpeak determination" checkbox, any load profiles generated at the Air Handleror Building level will only report the load at the peak hour and month. All the other profiles will be zero.
- In addition to the above mentioned “Use fast peak determination” feature, the calculation and report-generating times even when not using fast peakdetermination have been significantly reduced.
- Modified the calculation of the entering heating coil temperature so thatthe effect of the return duct temperature drop and the return plenum heatingloss is proportional to the amount of air being recirculated back intothe system. Now, if the heating system is 100% outside air, the enteringheating coil temperature shown on the psychrometric report will be thesame as the Winter outside air temperature.
Version 6.01.17 [2/27/98]
- Fixed a bug of version 6.01.15 and 6.01.16 (which were never released)where not all the loads for all the design months were being read for eachair handler when calculating air system loads.
Version 6.01.16 [2/26/98]
- Changed the conversion of DOS project files so that roofs, walls and glassitems for zones and partitions are always ignored unless the DOS projecthad a number greater than zero entered for the type.
Version 6.01.15 [2/26/98]
- Optimized the air system calculation code to speed it up. On a testproject with 5 zones and 5 air handlers, calculation and reporting timeshowed a speed improvement of about 30%.
- Fixed a bug where if an air handler was set to heating only or if all thezones in the air handler were set to heating only, the Psychrometric reportwould not show correct values for that system.
- Changed the file reading from ASCII to Binary on the CLTD, MSHGF and othervalues read in at the beginning of the program and upon changing the Unitsoption in order to increase the speed.
Version 6.01.14 [2/19/98]
- Changed the behavior of the Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window whenusing metric units so that when a city is selected from the weather databasethe values in the database are converted to metric unit values and copiedonto the Indoor/Outdoor Design Conditions window.
- Made the background color of page header that appears at the top of everyreport (except the title page) user-definable. Every color but blackwill work.
Version 6.01.13 [2/16/98]
- Fixed a bug where if the Report Calculation Ranges on the Properties ofPrint Preview window were changed to anything less than the default (allthe zones), subsequent prints or previews immediately following the restrictedpreview or print in which the range was not changed from the default (allzones) would incorrectly still exclude those air systems which had beenexcluded in the previous run.
Version 6.01.12 [2/16/98]
- Fixed a bug in the Find HVAC Equipment window where if the list was re-sortedby clicking on one of the first two (alphabetic) columns, the Select function(also double-click) would not copy the correct model onto the Air HandlerData window.
- Made a slight adjustment to the calculation of infiltration loads at theair system level. On the Building Summary Report, the middle section(Building Summary) would sometimes have %Total columns that added up tomore than 100.00% if a project had any infiltration loads.
- Added the ability to import the new, extra text from AUDIT’s sales proposal.
- Fixed an error 9, Subscript out of range, that could occur when findingrectangular duct sizes if the height and other constraints made it so thecalculated width would exceed the maximum schedule entry.
- Eliminated some possible causes of Overflow errors (error 6).
Version 6.01.11 [2/3/98]
- Fixed a bug where if both the Zone Data and Plenum Data windows were bothopen at the same time, the Glass Reference drop-down help window wouldnot always refill itself with the roof and wall data of the current window.
Version 6.01.10 [2/3/98]
- Fixed several occurrences of a problem where a drop-down help window wouldnot have anything in its list if a project windows which uses that helpwindow was unloaded while a different project window that also uses thathelp window was still loaded. This would happen with the help windowsshared by the General Project Data, Zone Data Air Handler Data and PlenumData windows (Operating Profiles help window, Roof Type help window, WallType help window, Glass Type help window, etc.).
Version 6.01.9 [2/3/98]
- Fixed a bug on the “Find HVAC Equipment” window that would display a messagebox after the first time the helpbutton on the Model Type input was clicked.
- Corrected the action of the Enter key on the “Plenum Data” window and the“Print Preview” windows.
- Added thousands separators to the y-axis labels on the load profiles graphs.
Version 6.01.8 [2/3/98]
- Increased the allowable maximum input for zone or plenum equipment Wattsand zone lighting Watts from 10,000,000 to 100,000,000.
- Added an option to the “Customize Toolbar” window to make the toolbar buttonslarge.
Version 6.01.7 [2/2/98]
- Fixed a bug where if the user's company name had an ampersand in it, itwould show up as a double ampersand on the About box.
- Added the current project filename to the abortwindow that appears whenprinting a set of reports. This filename also appears in the Printerswindow to show the name of the current document that is being printed.
- Corrected the spelling for the country of Colombia (from “Columbia”).
- Fixed a bug where the "No. Diffusers" input on the Zone Data window wasnot being saved.
- Added the ability to go to a specific record number (zone, air handler, material database item, etc.) by typing in the number you want to go to.
- Made the Find HVAC Equipment window automatically default to a correctsort of model type for cooling or heating even when no model type was selectedon the Air Handler Data window when going to the Find HVAC Equipment byclicking a helpbutton on the Air Handler Data window.
- Fixed a bug where some of the combohelp windows would not refill with projectdata upon opening another project while a project window was open.
- Corrected the way the splash window picture looks when the operating systemdisplay is set to large fonts.
Version 6.01.6 [1/26/98]
- Fixed a bug where evaluating a project (or calculating loads) would sometimescause a "Subscript out of Range" error.
- Fixed a bug where the "Building Loads (G)" and "Air Handler Loads (G)"checkboxes for pie charts on the "Properties of Print Preview" window wouldnot always be checked even if they had been checked the last time thatwindow had been open.
- Added another precaution (in addition to the one in 6.01.5) to avoid theprogram staying in memory after it has been closed.
Version 6.01.5 [1/21/98]
- Fixed a bug on the plenum data window where right-clicking on the roofinputs would not bring up the program's Edit menu; it would instead showthe default edit menu provided by the operating system.
- Fixed a bug which would allow the program to usually remain in memory afterclosing the program, if the compass on the right-hand side of the "RotateZones and Plenums" window had ever been clicked.
Version 6.01.4 [1/20/98]
- Optimized some of the calculation code.
Version 6.01.3 [1/13/98]
- Fixed a bug where the "Tip of the Day" window would always show the sametip each time it was opened.
Version 6.01.2 [1/13/98]
- Fixed a bug where a few of the combohelp windows could remain visible evenafter moving the form containing the combohelp window's input control.
- Fixed an unnecessary project file database conversion (i.e. "Previous VersionDetected") which took place whenever starting a new project, opening aDOS CHVAC project, or opening a newly created project.
- Corrected the handling of negative sensible and latent equipment loads. A negative latent load at the system level is now ignored when calculatingthe tonnage and a note has been added to the Check Figures section of theAir Handler Summary report whenever the latent load is negative. Systems with negative tonnages are ignored at the Building level as wellas all items within such systems when calculating the contribution of eachkind of item on the Building Load Summary report. The top sectionof the Building Load Summary report has been corrected to properly accountfor negative loads combined with the safety factor when showing the contributionof each kind of item so that the total gain column should always come outto 100%.
- Corrected the way some CHVAC version 4 project files were being read andconverted.
- Modified the conversion of DOS CHVAC project files so that the height ofthe wall will remain at zero if the wall had zero for its wall type. The DOS program would allow walls which didn't have a type to have a heightentered. Also made it so when a DOS project's roof is converted theheight and width will not be carried over unless the roof type is greaterthan zero.
- Fixed a bug in the Building Load Summary Report where if the building hadany systems which had Reheat selected as the excess supply air option, the middle section of the report ("Building Summary") would not includethe Reheat sensible gain in with the Zone Loads row, thus making the totalcome up to less than 100%. This is the only part of the reports thatthis error affected.
- Corrected the calculation of plenum credit so that the area exposed tozones for a plenum is now divided into the cooling area exposed to thezones and the heating area exposed to zones in order to correctly calculatethe plenum loads for projects which have some zones which are heating onlyor cooling only.
- Fixed a Type Mismatch error that would occur when creating pie charts forair handlers or groups.
- Added client and company information to the title page and made the textadjust itself on the page if there is no picture. Also made the picturecompress if necessary to fit within a certain space on the title page.
Version 6.01.1 [12/27/97]
- Added a taskbar to the main window which displays a button for each openwindow and provides a convenient way to switch from one open window toanother.
