The Elite Software Bill of Materials (BOM) program is a low cost ($299) option within the Rhvac program which performs ACCA Manual J, D, and S calculations. The primary purpose of BOM is to create a list of all the material and labor items needed to complete an HVAC project. A detailed and accurate list of all the items required, along with their associated costs, allows you to know your exact total cost of a project so that you can set a price to win the job with the profit you want. Items in the material list can be added in one of two ways. If you are using Rhvac along with the Drawing Board and Graphic Manual D options, BOM can detect all ductwork items and automatically include them in the material list. Alternately, you can manually select items and enter quantities yourself. This feature allows BOM to work with Rhvac even if you don't have the graphic options activated.

Manual addition of items to the material list is often beneficial even to projects done graphically. After all, you might have quoted items such as site cleanup, masonry work or other items that you are contracting out.

Elite Software has created five new videos to help you learn how to use the Bill of Materials software. These videos are shown in a playlist here on the new Elite Software YouTube channel.

Several new features have been added to Rhvac for Windows. One is multiple duct schedules which will be explained more in the next newsletter and the other feature is an updated new material database with more items and updated prices. Bill of Materials - HVAC Material and Labor Estimates

Using Bill of Materials (BOM) to obtain an accurate total estimate of the material and labor costs for your project allows you to set a sales price to win the job with the profit you need. BOM comes with over 11,000 items in its material database, and it has capacity for many thousands more. It is easy to add, delete or edit items in the material database. You can even import parts lists and prices from your own local supply houses.

One of the most attractive features of BOM is the automatic ductwork takeoff that it does from a duct system you draw using the Drawing Board and the Graphic Manual D Ductsize options within the Rhvac program. Duct sections of different materials and sizes, fittings, registers, and grilles are all automatically detected, categorized, and counted for you. Metal ductwork is also counted in square footage of area and total pounds. Whether you are working in full graphic mode with automated take-off ability or just using simple manual entry mode, the BOM option of Rhvac allows you to quickly account for all material and labor items needed in your project.

Report Flexibility

Bill of Materials lets you create and fully customize any kind of bill of materials report you want. In fact, you are given complete control over all aspects of the bill of materials report. You can choose a layout that shows only certain columns of data and turns off all the rest. You can select which colors and fonts to use and how to group the parts and cost categories you have. You can also save your custom report layout options for use in future projects. With Bill of Materials activated in your copy of Rhvac, get ready to obtain quick, accurate estimates of your material and labor costs so that you can always price your jobs to win with profit!
