No doubt the corona virus situation has been difficult for all of us. We have all suffered financially, but hopefully you and your family have been spared from any sickness or death from the virus.

Although most of us in the HVAC industry have essential job status, there has been more time available to study and learn new things. One thing Elite Software has noticed during this time is that many Rhvac residential load calc users have been studying Elite's commercial load calc program called Chvac.

Rhvac is sometimes used for light commercial load calculations, but there are limitations and issues to consider when using an ACCA Manual J based software such as Rhvac for a commercial application. See this article here about different load calculation procedures and how they can be used.

One circumstance where there is no doubt about needing a full commercial HVAC load calculation procedure is when the project is governed by Standard 183. See details on Std. 183 here.

Chvac is based on the ASHRAE CLTD/RTS calculation procedures, which complies with Std. 183.  Chvac operates similarly to the Rhvac software but it is more complex than Rhvac, so extra instruction is helpful to learn it. To that point, Elite Software has created new Chvac videos, some interactive and some continuous play with voice and sound. Here is a link to the new videos.

The continuous play videos are also available on the new Elite Software YouTube channel as seen here.

Chvac has been an industry leader in commercial HVAC load calculation software since 1979. Try Elite Software's flagship program today and see why so many commercial designers are choosing Chvac. Get both Chvac and EnergyPro (which Chvac links to) and you'll have the most powerful, user-friendly commercial load calculation/energy analysis combo on the market.

Chvac quickly and accurately calculates the maximum heating and cooling loads for commercial buildings, and is accepted for Std. 183 submittals. The cooling loads can be calculated with either the CLTD method or the newer RTS (Radiant Time Series) method. The program allows up to an unlimited number of rooms, which can be grouped into as many as 100 air handling systems. Chvac automatically looks up all cooling load and correction factors necessary for computing loads. In addition, it can look up outdoor design weather data for over 2000 cities located around the world. There is also provision for editing the weather data as well as adding data for other cities.

Comprehensive reports list the general project data, detailed room loads, air handler summary loads, outside air loads, total building loads, building envelope analysis, tonnage requirements, CFM air quantities, chilled water flow rates (if applicable), and complete psychrometric data with entering and leaving coil conditions. Other outstanding features include ASHRAE Standard 62 analysis, automatic building rotation, 360 degree wall orientations, tilted glass, exterior shading, internal operating load profiles, variable indoor design temperatures, people diversity, pretreated outside air, seasonal infiltration and ventilation rates, reheat loads, duct gains and losses, and return air plenums.

See more details and download a trial copy of Chvac from here.
