This monthly newsletter will announce new software, tradeshow events, and tips on using existing software. See previous newsletters here. Elite Software recently released Rhvac 10, which is a program for ACCA Manual J, D, and S HVAC calculations. The new features in Rhvac 10 can be seen here. The cost of upgrading from Rhvac 9 to Rhvac 10 depends on how long you have owned Rhvac 9. See the upgrade prices here. One of the new features of Rhvac 10 is the support of the new equipment SEER2, EER2, and HSPF2 ratings. All of the performance values for every AHRI certified model can be found here. The only problem with the AHRI data is that it is "nominal" data, which means that it is only valid at AHRI test conditions, which include a 95 F outdoor temperature and an 80 F indoor temperature. Many inspectors want to see air conditioner and heat capacities adjusted for your indoor temperature, typically 75 F, and for your local outdoor temperature. The AHRI web site cannot provide adjusted model capacities for variable conditions. However, many HVAC manufacturers now provide web applications that can calculate adjusted capacities for air conditioners and heat pumps under variable conditions. See a list of those web sites here. Click here to see more details on Rhvac 10, and download a trial version if you don't already have it. Be sure to check our web site at www.elitesoft.com for even more info. Many programs have received free downloadable updates. Go here to see if there are updates relevant to your software. If you have questions on any topic, please feel free to call 800-648-9523 or 979-690-9420, or send email to info@elitesoft.com. Sincerely, Bill Smith |
