Energy Audit Version 7 Update

Version Changes

Version 7.02.125 [6/9/2023]

  1. Added the ability to import data from Rhvac 10 in addition to previous versions of Rhvac.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Import from Rhvac dialog, where if you selected the "Project" checkbox in the list the project data would not get imported.

Version 7.02.123 [1/7/2016]

  1. Corrected the text in the left panel of the statusbar that shows the current project filename. It had been showing the path to the TMP file copy of the project file instead of the actual project file.

  2. Made certain changes to accommodate some foreign language double byte character set systems to prevent a problem where some room data were not being saved to or read from the project file.

Version 7.02.113 [10/29/2014]

  1. Fixed a bug where the Save System feature on the System Data window was not working.

Version 7.02.110 [5/24/2013]

  1. Added an "Open Project from Recent Folder" item in the File menu, which lets you display the Open Project dialog already set to one of your recent project folders.

  2. Added a "Browse Recent Folder" button to the multi-project Project Explorer window, which lets you instantly change the list of project files to that of any of your recent project folders.

  3. Changed the folder location where certain temporary files are written while the program is running, in the case of the installation being the old, pre-2010 type.

  4. Fixed a problem where the Import from Chvac feature did not work with Chvac version 8.

Version 7.02.109 [9/14/2012]

  1. Made it so the Bin Analysis report will not print for a system with Degree Days selected for the heating calculation method.

Version 7.02.108 [6/19/2012]

  1. Corrected the weather data for Shreveport, Louisiana and Gainesville, Florida to match Manual J.

  2. Corrected the name of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, which had been only "Elizabeth."

  3. Fixed a bug where if you had a modulating boiler or on/off with thermal efficiency boiler and were using degree days as the heating calculation method the program would not calculate correct heating cost results.

Version 7.02.107 [2/15/2011]

  1. Updated the Import from Rhvac feature to also work with Rhvac version 9 project files.

Version 7.02.104 [12/13/2010]

  1. Added an Occurrences column to the Include Systems list on the Select Reports dialog, which lets you specify that one or more of your systems occur multiple times.

  2. Also added an Occurrences column to the system lists on the System Comparison window, which lets you specify that a system occurs a certain number of times for any given comparison case.

Version 7.02.100 [9/2/2010]

  1. Replaced the Print dialog that opens when you click Print All or Print Current Page on the Print Preview window. The new Print dialog includes a separate Print Setup button that lets you change the current printer or its settings before printing to the printer. With the old Print dialog it was possible to generate the print preview using one printer, then change to a different printer on the Print dialog before printing, potentially causing problems with the printout. The new Print dialog lets you apply any changes to the current print preview before actually printing it, ensuring that the printout matches what you see in the Print Preview window.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Custom Report window, where if you clicked the "Preview Custom Report" button in that window's toolbar it would open the Print Preview window with all of your reports showing, not just the custom report.

  3. Fixed a bug where the path of the filename shown in the footer of the reports was incorrect. It was the path to the TMP file (the copy of the project file used while the project is open) instead of the path of the project file.

  4. Made several changes to accommodate system currency settings other than "English (United States)." Made changes to the reports and graphs, and to inputs on the Fuel Rates window. The dollar symbol, "$," was hard-coded in several places.

  5. Corrected the weather data for Detroit, Michigan and London, Ontario, Canada.

  6. Added a dialog that appears during startup if the screen's current DPI setting is non-standard. The dialog informs you that some elements of the program may not display properly, and it tells you how you may change your DPI setting.

  7. Made it so if you select ground source or direct exhange heat pump and our database has 47 and 17 degree COP values but not a single COP value, if the HP Option input for heating is set to Flat the program automatically changes it to Adjusted. This feature is for the benefit of those using the new Earthlinked.mdb database, which has 47 and 17 degree COP values but not the single COP values that are used when HP Option is set to Flat.

  8. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the backup capacity on the system input data report to show the units as being "kW" in cases when the units should be Btuh.

  9. Added picture references for EarthLinked Technologies, Inc. to the equipment picture database.

  10. Added a warning when the model type is heat pump and the heating calculation method is degree days. Added an additional warning if backup is also specified under those circumstances.

  11. Corrected the text to say "HSPF" instead of "COP" for the warning about having a zero efficiency for a ground source or direct exchange heat pump using Flat for the HP Option input when the heating calculation method is set to Degree Days.

Version 7.02.98 [3/30/2010]

  1. Corrected the outdoor design conditions in the weather database for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

  2. Changed the minimum cutoff temperature for heat pumps from -50 to -100 degrees.

  3. Made it so when you change the heating type for a system to ground source heat pump, 2 stage ground source, or direct exchange, the cutoff temperature input is automatically set to -99 degrees.

  4. Added an Evaluation of System box at the bottom of the System Data window. This box shows the same thing you would see if you clicked Evaluate Current System, but it is always visible without you having to do that.

  5. Made it so the main window opens at full screen size the first time the program is opened after a first time installation.

Version 7.02.96 [2/8/2010]

  1. Corrected the outdoor design conditions in the weather database for Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and Spokane, Washington to match those of Manual J.

  2. Added sample projects and Proposal Maker templates for Bryant and Carrier. Also updated the Equipment Picture Database references for them.

  3. Modified the setup to help ensure registration of certain DLL and OCX files.

Version 7.02.95 [1/4/2010]

  1. Fixed bugs that developed in a recent update, where certain things on the Project Explorer window did not work properly, such as the node for the current project disappearing upon clicking the plus sign.

  2. Added a Troubleshooting menu under the Print Setup menu, which includes functions for clearing the print setup and page setup data for reports. Clearing this data can fix certain problems involving printing, as well as certain problems involving opening the Proposal Maker window.

  3. Fixed a problem in the setup where if the program had last been installed from CD but was being updated from the web, it was possible for the Readme file to not get updated.

  4. Made it so when you save a project with the Save Project As dialog it automatically deletes the appropriate ".open" file, if it happens to exist, and replaces it with a new one.

  5. Fixed a bug where the copy and paste functions of the popup menu that opens when you right click on the program icon node of projects in the Project Explorer windows did not work if the program had been installed in the new, Vista-compatible way.

Version 7.02.91 [12/20/2009]

  1. Corrected the name of the quantity we were calling "Return on Investment" to "Internal Rate of Return." Added a new quantity, this time properly called "Return on Investment," which is determined by taking the cumulative operating cost savings at the end of the system lifetime, subtracting the Net Cost, dividing the result by the Net Cost, and them multiplying the result by 100%.

  2. Fixed a problem in the setup, where if you installed only one Elite program and it was your first Elite program installed on your computer, and then you uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it, the reinstall could fail due to certain folder locations not being initialized.

Version 7.02.89 [12/7/2009]

  1. Technical changes.

Version 7.02.88 [11/20/2009] (Test Version)

  1. On the "Import from Rhvac" and "Import from Chvac" dialogs, made it so the "HVAC Equipment" checkbox is not checked by default, since it is likely that you will want to do your selection of equipment for your systems in Energy Audit rather than those other programs.

  2. Made changes regarding compatibility with Vista and later versions of Windows.

  3. Corrected the summer outdoor design wet bulb and winter dry and wet bulbs for Richmond, Virginia in the weather database.

  4. Made several improvements regarding opening and saving project files. The temporary file (extension TMP) is now stored in the user's local application data folder instead of in the same folder as the project file, which improves the performance of the program when opening a project file from a folder on a server or other computer. It also makes it so project files can be opened from read-only media, such as a CD or a folder for which the user has read-only access. Another new feature is that when a project file is open by one user, any other instance of the program opened by another user can know that the file is currently in use by another user.

  5. Fixed a bug that could happen on Windows Vista or Windows 7, where double clicking a project file when the program was not open yet would open the program but not open the project file that was double clicked.

Version 7.02.82 [6/22/2009]

  1. Added a sample project and Proposal Maker template file for Goodman.

  2. Added "Get Heating Certificate" and "Get Cooling Certificate" buttons to the System Data window's toolbar. These buttons take you to the appropriate pages on AHRI's website where you can get a certificate of performance for various types of heating and cooling equipment.

Version 7.02.81 [5/28/2009]

  1. Fixed a small bug when figuring the temperature at which the load on two speed heating requires that the unit operate at its full capacity rather than just the first speed, where the point of zero load was assumed to be at 65 degrees instead of the whatever the winter indoor design temperature is.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Find HVAC Equipment window, where the height of the gray first row was too short to read all of the text of some of the column headers.

  3. Updated Armstrong and WaterFurnace references in the Equipment Picture Database.

Version 7.02.80 [5/18/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug where the calculation of the heating load during each temperature bin was assuming that the load became zero at an outdoor temperature of 65 degrees rather than at the winter indoor design temperature. On benefit of this correction is that it makes it so the program can accurately accommodate projects for which the winter indoor design temperature is lower than 65 degrees.

  2. Added an option to the Energy Audit Options dialog called "Use adjusted load to find capacity balance point." When checked, the calculations will use the adjusted load (the design heating load multiplied by the Loads Adjustment Factor entered on the General Project Data window) when determining the capacity balance point and when drawing the load line on the Heating Performance graph.

Version 7.02.79 [4/9/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug where the monthly service charges for electricity were only being applied when there was electricity usage during a month. Fixed the same bug for natural gas.

  2. Fixed a bug where the minimum monthly charges for electricity were only being applied if the Rate Structure option was set to Complex. Fixed the same bug for natural gas.

Version 7.02.78 [4/6/2009]

  1. Fixed a bug where the Find HVAC Equipment window would sometimes display a box that said "Object doesn't support this property or method" after you clicked the Find Now button.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Find HVAC Equipment window where the Picture Filename column would not always get filled in.

  3. Updated the picture references for Lennox in the Equipment Picture Database. Also added a sample project for Lennox and a Proposal Maker template for Lennox.

Version 7.02.77 [11/4/2008]

  1. Fixed a problem that could occur in some of the text inputs under certain circumstances, where the "Press Enter to Find" tooltip could display at a time when it was not needed.

  2. Changed the help for the Rated Electrical Usage to more accurately describe its purpose.

Version 7.02.75 [10/3/2008]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Input Data report for backup types other than electric resistance, where the units for capacity would either be missing or incorrectly say "kW" instead of "Btuh."

  2. Fixed a problem on the System Data window where if you used the Find HVAC Equipment window to select a heat pump in a system in which you had formerly selected a gas or oil unit, the Rated Electrical Usage input was not explicitly being reset back to zero. That made it so if you had previously selected a gas or oil type of unit for a system and then later selected a heat pump instead for that same system, the value in the Rated Electrical Usage input would remain what it had been set to previously and would incorrectly increase the heating cost.

  3. Fixed a bug where the program could falsely report an error saying that the complex electric fuel rate Balance input was zero if the Balance input for winter was not zero.

Version 7.02.73 [8/15/2008]

  1. Changed the control that displays the list of models on the Find HVAC Equiment window. The list of models displays much faster now, especially when there are huge numbers of models. Each column is now sortable, even if the list is huge (formerly, numeric columns could only be sorted if the list did not have over 30,000 models). The list can now display the outdoor and indoor unit model numbers separately, for databases that include those new fields (the upcoming round of equipment data files for cooling equipment will include separate fields for the outdoor and indoor units). Also added an input that lets you search the list for a particular indoor coil model number.

  2. Fixed a problem that could happen with the calculation of the "return on investment" value on the Economics tab of the System Comparison window. With dollar values in the hundreds of thousands, sometimes the code that calculates that value could not converge and the program would show a result of zero. Now it can converge and find a result even for very large dollar values.

  3. Fixed a problem with the display of dropdown help windows when the Windows taskbar was docked to the top of the screen, where the dropdown help would always be positioned above the text control instead of below it.

Version 7.02.66 [6/23/2008]

  1. Fixed a bug on the "Select Default Data for New Project" dialog, where fuel rates, appliance data, system data and comparison data could not be copied into a new project.

  2. Fixed a problem that developed fairly recently, as the ARI reference numbers being published by AHRI increased in value, where sometimes you could not sort by the ARI Reference Number column on the Find HVAC Equipment window because the numbers were too large for the sorting code to handle. Note that we still have a limit on the number of rows for any numeric column to be sorted, to avoid having a sorting operation that takes too long. If there are more than 30,000 rows showing you cannot sort by any of the numeric columns.

  3. Corrected the weather data for Eagle, Colorado.

Version 7.02.64 [4/16/2008]

  1. Made several changes for heat pumps produced by FHP Manufacturing. Added new picture references, updated the "Sample FHP.aud" file so that it uses one of the new AP units, updated its Proposal Maker documents and template, and added a comparison case.

  2. Updated the Elite Software Update Manager program so that it downloads equipment and picture files much faster now. Also made it so the equipment files are much more likely to always be available for downloading.

  3. Fixed a bug in Proposal Maker when using a two speed heating system, where the Heating Capacity and Heating Efficiency document fields would show a zero. Now these document fields show the high speed and low speed values.

  4. Made it so the dropdown help for the year input on the Utility Bills window shows years starting at 4 years ago from the date that the program is being run through the current year.

Version 7.02.62 [3/20/2008]

  1. Fixed a bug that would happen when opening a version 7.01.167 or earlier project file, where the temperature, capacity and COP data for air source heat pumps was not coming in correctly.

Version 7.02.61 [2/8/2008]

  1. On the Project Summary report, made it so if the cooling load and heating load inputs on the General Project Data window are set to zero, they are not shown on the report. This change makes it so that report accommodates situations where the program is being used to evalute a job where the loads are different under different proposed scenarios.

  2. Fixed a problem where it was possible under various circumstances to get a "Subscript out of range" error when using the bin data method with an air source heat pump.

Version 7.02.60 [1/9/2008]

  1. Added a line to the grid on the bin analysis report for non-heat pumps to show the oversize penalty, when present. This new line was needed because the total at the bottom of that report includes the oversize penalty, but the individual bin costs shown above it do not.

  2. Changed the way the program accounts for defrost. Formerly, it had been using a formula to reduce the capacity by a certain amount during the relevant temperature bins, but now the defrost energy is used to increase the electrical usage during those bins, while capacity remains unchanged.

  3. Made it so the COP value used in the low temperature bins never gets lower than 1.0. This change will reduce the amount of calculated energy consumed by air source heat pumps at very low temperatures.

  4. Added picture references for for FHP Manufacturing to the Equipment Picture Database. Also added an FHP example project that includes Proposal Maker documents, as well as Proposal Maker templates for FHP.

Version 7.02.59 [10/18/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug on the System Data window, where under certain circumstances if you tried to delete a system the system before the one you were trying to delete would get deleted instead.

  2. Corrected a problem where some of the windows that have variable size would initially open with a size that was a little bit too small.

  3. Updated the downloadable setup file so that it runs as administrator by default.

  4. For Proposal Maker, fixed a bug that developed in one of the previous builds, where the Print Multiple Documents feature no longer worked.

Version 7.02.58 [9/6/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug on the System Data window, where the cooling and heating costs (and the total cost) were not including the effect of the value in the Miscellaneous Savings input. This bug only affected the results shown on the System Data window, since the reports shown in the Print Preview window all did include the effect of the savings, when applicable.

Version 7.02.57 [8/30/2007]

  1. Fixed a problem on the Appliance Data window where the efficiency for a water heater would remain at zero when you first create a new appliance set until you changed any of the options for the water heater. So if you left the default settings unchanged of Electric, Standard, and Low Efficiency the Efficiency input would remain at zero.

  2. Changed "Utility Rebate" to "Rebates and Incentives" everywhere in the program.

  3. Changed to an older version of the PDF creation software used for the Print Preview window in order to prevent a problem in the PDF files where the labels on graphs were blank. Made it so when this older version of this PDF creation software, VSPDF8.ocx, is written to the Windows\System32 folder, it always overwrites any existing version of that file (since the newer versions of it are the ones with the bug). Also removed the PDF Distortion Warning message box that was being displayed when you started to generate a PDF from the Print Preview window.

  4. Corrected the name of the program on the report page header and the default title page picture to say, "Energy Audit" rather than the old name of "Audit."

Version 7.02.53 [7/18/2007]

  1. Changed the term, "Payback" to "Break-Even" in parts of the program having to do with the investment analysis for system comparisons.

  2. Made several major changes to Proposal Maker, as described in its ReadmePM.doc file.

  3. Added a message when you click "Save as PDF File" on the Print Preview window's toolbar that explains that the PDF you create may have problems with the graphics, and that recommends you instead use the freeware PDF creator from www.CutePDF.com.

Version 7.02.49 [5/16/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Find HVAC Equipment window, where two stage ground source heat pumps would be included in the list when you select single stage ground source heat pump in the Type input.

  2. Fixed a problem when selecting an air conditioner or heat pump, where the Qualifying Tier input on the System Data window allowed a maximum of only 15 characters, which is not enough for some models in the databases.

  3. On the Find HVAC Equipment window, divided the "SEER/EER" column into two columns: one for SEER and another for EER.

  4. Added a label under the Qualifying Tier input on the System Data window to show the EER of the current model, since Qualifying Tier is based on the unit's EER.

  5. On the Input Data and Comparison reports, added text to the places that showed a unit's Qualifying Tier, to also show the EER that the tier is based on.

  6. Updated the Rheem picture references in the Equipment Picture Database and added a new Rheem picture download file to our website. Also added picture references and new picture download files for Ruud and WeatherKing.

Version 7.02.48 [5/10/2007]

  1. Fixed a problem in the setup where it did not delete all of the old shortcuts for previous versions of Energy Audit from the Elite Software section of the Start menu.

  2. Fixed a problem in the setup where it did not delete the file that saves the toolbar, which made it so you had to reset the toolbar in order to see any new tools or menu items that we had added recently.

  3. Fixed bugs related to using Direct Exchange Heat Pump for the system type under certain circumstances. If the heating calculation method was Degree Days, the capacity balance point would show zero instead of indicating that it is undefined (now it says minus 99). The Heating Performance graph under those same circumstances was showing a sloped line instead of a flat line. And if the Bin Data method was selected for the heating calculation method but the HP Option input was set to Flat, the Heating Performance line was also showing up as a sloped line instead of a flat one.

  4. Added a warning when using complex rates for electricity or natural gas when the Balance input has been left at zero. The warning explains that you must fill that input in in order for the program to include all of the costs if usage exceeds the highest range value you have entered.

Version 7.02.47 [4/24/2007]

  1. Fixed a few problems in the help file where an error message box would be displayed for some of the topics when you clicked on the link in the tree outline of topics on the left of the help window.

  2. Made several changes to the Update Manager program, including showing each program's recent update history list, the ability to download and install multiple equipment databases and pictures at once, detection of whether your equipment pictures need to be updated, and showing the number of available models for each model type for each equipment database.

  3. In the setup, added a checkbox for overwriting the existing Equipment Picture Database file. When checked, the file will simply be overwritten and Energy Audit will not need to perform a merge to incorporate any new pictures in the database. When unchecked, the merge prompts within Energy Audit are displayed just as they were in versions before this one.

  4. Modified the setup to not display the blue gradient background and graphics, and to instead only display the wizard dialog and the little window that shows the installation progress.

Version 7.02.46 [4/13/2007]

  1. Added the Create HVAC Equipment Database feature back in to the program. Also made an adjustment to the code to prevent a particular error in some of the downloadable CSV files.

Version 7.02.45 [4/11/2007] (Private Build)

  1. Added references to the new Carrier heat pumps and air conditioners to the Equipment Picture Database.

Version 7.02.44 [4/6/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug on the System Data window that developed in version 7.02.40, where if you created a new air source heat pump the temperatures assigned to the temperature fields, as shown on the Heat Pump Data dialog, would not be right. They are supposed to start at -43 and increase by 10 degrees on each row.

Version 7.02.43 [4/6/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug where the service charges were not being included in the costs shown in the Annual Cost area on the System Data window.

  2. Fixed a problem on the Monthly Energy Costs graph where the line for service charges did not have a corresponding item in the legend on the right of the graph to explain what the line was for.

  3. Added a line to the Comparison Report after the hot water cost to show the service charges.

  4. Added a line to the "First Year Costs" section at the top of the Economic Analysis report to show the service charges.

  5. Fixed a potential bug on the Find HVAC Equipment window, where the heating capacity column could show up as zero if you were using one of the upcoming equipment databases that have the heat pump data saved in different fields.

  6. Fixed a bug in the import of Chvac air handler equipment data, where the heating type from the Chvac system's equipment was not being imported.

  7. Removed the Create HVAC Equipment Database feature due to inconsistencies of the format of the downloadable CSV files as well as errors in the column headers. Even when this feature worked properly, its value was becoming negligible anyway, since we are moving toward more frequent updates of our downloadable equipment databases.

Version 7.02.40 [3/10/2007]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Heat Pump Data dialog, where values you entered for the 17 and 47 degree temperature rows were not being saved after you clicked OK.

  2. Corrected the text that shows the units of efficiency on the System Data window when you select electric resistance as the heating type. It had been saying "AFUE," and now says "%."

  3. Fixed a bug where if you had a system with a backup heating type of electric resistance and switched the project from English to metric units, the kW capacity of the backup would incorrectly get multiplied by a conversion factor and would show a different value in the input.

  4. For English units projects, changed the display of electric backup capacity on the Input Data report for the system to always show it in kW instead of Btuh.

  5. Added five new temperature, capacity and COP data points for air source heat pumps for temperatures below 7 degrees. These new data points enable the program to accurately calculate the energy usage of the new All Climate Heat Pumps from Hallowell International. Also modified the program's logic that reads heat pump temperature data points other than 17 and 47 degrees to be more flexible, so that you don't have to enter data into all of the available temperature data point rows on the Heat Pump Data popup dialog. Also modified the equipment data files and the Model View program to include the 5 new low temperature data points.

  6. Added Hallowell International's All Climate Heat Pumps to the Equipment Picture Database. Also added a Hallowell database to the list of downloadable databases.

  7. Added a "Save System for Future Use" button to the System Data window's toolbar to let you save the current system to a file that you can load later into another system. Also added a corresponding "Load a Saved System" button.

  8. Changed the help file from WinHelp to HTML Help.

  9. Took measures to enable the program to work properly on Windows Vista without having to run it as administrator.

  10. Fixed a problem with two stage ground source heat pumps, where it was possible for the capacity balance point to be based on the temperature at which the low speed capacity equaled the load, rather than the high speed. The problem was that the temperature at which the high speed capacity was needed was being calculated from a temperature only 2 degrees instead of 2.5 degrees up from the bottom of each 5 degree temperature bin.

  11. Corrected a problem with the setup, where it was blanking out the input on the Select Reports dialog for the title page picture filename on update installations.

Version 7.02.35 [2/22/2007]

  1. Updated the weather database so that cities such as Asheville, North Carolina that had zero cooling hours now have the number of cooling hours calculated from the bin data (for cities that have bin data).

  2. Updated the list of years shown in the dropdown help for the Starting Year input. They now go from 2000 to 2006.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Input Data report for systems, where the section for backup heating was not being shown for two stage ground source heat pumps.

Version 7.02.34 [1/30/2007]

  1. Fixed a problem where it was possible for older versions of the equipment database files to not show all of the database's ground source heat pump models in the list on the Find HVAC Equipment window.

  2. Made it so when you switch the cooling or heating type input to any of the ground source heat pump types the HP Option input on the Cooling tab defaults to Flat instead of Adjusted (the HP Option input on the Heating tab was already defaulting to Flat).

  3. Fixed a bug where certain circumstances could cause the program to lock up. If you had the Custom Report window open and there were no systems in the project yet, then you opened the System Data window, the program would lock up.

Version 7.02.31 [12/13/2006]

  1. Made it so the program writes the current program version to certain fields in the project file upon opening the project.

  2. Fixed a bug where it was possible for problems to happen such as part of the project file becoming corrupted if you added, deleted or edited the system comparisons on the Select Reports window while the System Comparison window was still open in the background.

  3. Fixed a bug on the System Data window that developed recently, where the cooling type input did not set itself to the appropriate type when you changed the heating type input, and vice versa.

  4. Added a warning message box that is displayed when you use the built-in PDF file creation feature for a Proposal Maker document. The warning explains that it is better to use PDF creation software such as the free PDF writer available from www.CutePDF.com.

Version 7.02.30 [10/27/2006]

  1. Changed the default minimum capacity multipliers for heat pumps from 100 to 80 percent for a first time installation. These are the values used to determine the values inserted into the Min and Max capacity inputs when you open the Find HVAC Equipment window from the System Data window.

  2. Fixed a bug where if the Units input on the General Project Data window was set to "Metric (SI)" when you selected your city in the Weather Reference City input, the winter and summer outdoor dry bulb temperatures would be inserted with English unit values.

Version 7.02.29 [10/10/2006]

  1. Added two stage ground source heat pumps to the list of model types you can select on the Find HVAC Equipment window. The database available for WaterFurnace now distinguishes between single stage and two stage units.

  2. Rearranged the order of the types in the dropdown help of the Cooling Type and Heating Type inputs on the System Data window. Similar types are now grouped together. Did the same thing on the list of model types you can search for on the Find HVAC Equipment window.

  3. Made it so the "Check for HVAC Equipment Updates..." checkbox on the Update Options dialog is always enabled and functions independently from the option you select for checking for updates for the host program. So you can now choose to check for HVAC equipment updates even if you don't check for an update for the host program.

Version 7.02.28 [10/1/2006] (Private Build)

  1. Added two stage ground source heat pumps to the cooling and heating types that you can select on the System Data window.

  2. Corrected a slight error on the load line on the cooling graph that opens when you click "Cooling Graph" from the System Data window's toolbar. Also corrected the capacity line for two stage cooling.

  3. Updated the toolbars to a newer style with a different appearance.

Version 7.02.27 [9/11/2006]

  1. Fixed a bug where if the list generated on the Find HVAC Equipment window had more than about 32,000 models, the program could lock up.

  2. Removed the message in the Evaluation of Project and Evaluation of System windows when the degree days method is used for an air source heat pump that says that the heating degree day method is not recommended for heat pumps, since COP data is currently not always easily accessible, and if you don't have COP data the degree day method is the only option you have.

  3. Appended some text to the message in the Evaluation of Project and Evaluation of System windows that appears when the bin data method is selected for a heat pump that has zero COP data. The message now recommends that you try to get COP data from the manufacturer.

  4. Made it so when you first open the program it asks you whether or not you want to check for an update. Also added a new "Set Check for Update Options" menu under the Help menu. You can now select whether you want the program to ask you, to automatically check, or to not check. If you set it to automatically check, you can also set it to notify you of any updates to the HVAC equipment databases you may have installed, which are used in Elite programs such as Energy Audit and Rhvac. Also made it so the Update Available and similar dialogs from the Update Manager program float over all other windows. This change prevents the possibility of the Update Available window being put behind the main program window where you might not notice it.

  5. Corrected summer design DB and WB for Cheyenne, WY in the weather database.

  6. Added the new Envision units to the WaterFurnace equipment database as well as references to those models in the Equipment Picture Database. Also replaced the "Sample WaterFurnace.aud" file with one called, "Sample WaterFurnace Envision.aud" and expanded the Proposal Maker template called "WaterFurnace Examples.pmt" to include a document appropriate when you have selected an Envision unit for a system.

  7. Modified the setup to create Desktop and Start menu shortcuts with the text, "Energy Audit" instead of the old program name, "Audit."

Version 7.02.26 [6/12/2006]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed in version 7.02.25, where it was possible for the various bar and pie graphs to not be generated, which was because the program was compiled with a different version of the component that creates them than that which was included in the setup.

Version 7.02.25 [6/7/2006]

  1. Corrected summer design DB and WB for Cheyenne, WY in the weather database.

  2. Fixed a bug that developed in version 7.02.24, where if you selected an air source heat pump with the Find HVAC Equipment window that system's 47 and 17 degree heating capacity values would not get updated.

Version 7.02.24 [5/25/2006]

  1. Added a warning when you are using the bin data method, have an air source heat pump selected, and have a zero 17 or 47 degree COP. Also made it so the calculation method for such a system is switched to the degree day method in the calculations.

  2. Fixed a bug that made it so if you used a two stage furnace as your backup for a heat pump system, the backup heating costs for individual bins on the Bin Analysis Report would all show up as zero and the economic balance point for the system would show up as -99.

  3. Added references to 23 SEER air conditioners for Maytag, Tappan, Frigidaire and Westinghouse in the Equipment Picture Database.

  4. Updated some of the runtime files included in the setup (VB6 SP6).

  5. Updated the setup to not prompt for the location of the program folder if the Elite folder has already been established by a previous installation of this program or another Elite Software program. Also updated the setup to never prompt for the location of the Elite\Common folder.

  6. Added a "Save Report and E-Mail" button to the Print Preview window's toolbar. Clicking this button will save the reports in the new Report Viewer File format (RVF) and attach it to a new e-mail message, where the body of the message includes a link to download the latest version of Report Viewer from the Elite Software web site.

Version 7.02.20 [2/6/2006]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed a few months ago, where version 6.07 projects would fail to convert to the 7.02 format.

  2. Made it so if the System Comparison window is open and you switch back to it from one of the other project windows it will automatically recalculate without your having to click its Recalculate button.

  3. On 4/5/2006 updated the setup by adding references to Lennox XC21 air conditioners and XP19 heat pumps in the Equipment Picture Database. You will need to install today's version of audsetup.exe and also run today's new lennoxpic.exe file in order for these references to work.

Version 7.02.19 [1/16/2006]

  1. Changed the color used for backup heating in the comparison bar graph from yellow to dark red, and changed the order in which the parts of the bar appear so that all heating related items are together.

Version 7.02.17 [12/15/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Appliance Data report, where if you had selected a water heater of type "Heat Pump Heater" the COP efficiency would be shown as if it were a percentage.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you selected a water heater of type "Heat Pump Heater" and had also checked the box just above that checkbox on the Appliance Data window, the efficiency value used for that water heater in the calculations would be incorrect.

Version 7.02.16 [11/20/2005]

  1. Fixed a problem on the dropdown help of the "Step 1" input on the Create HVAC Equipment Database window, where there were no web site addresses in the list.

Version 7.02.14 [11/2/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Select Reports dialog that developed in one of the recent versions, where the "Sys.A vs. Sys.B" lists in the Properties of Case X area were recalling only the systems selected for the first comparison case even when you highlighted case number 2 or higher in the Include Cases list.

Version 7.02.13 [10/19/2005]

  1. Fixed a problem that made it possible for picture data saved in an accessory database file that was originally a jpg or gif could get converted to the much larger bmp format under certain circumstances, making it possible for database and project file sizes to be larger than necessary.

  2. Added a WaterFurnace example project file and a template file. Update the Equipment Picture Database to include WaterFurnace equipment pictures.

Version 7.02.11 [9/26/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in version 7.02.9 where if you changed data on the Custom Report window your changes would not always be saved.

  2. Made it so the default heat content values of fuel oil and propane are automatically inserted into a newly created fuel rate set.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you selected Electric Resistance for the backup heating type of a heat pump, the kW of backup capacity you entered would not be converted to Btuh for display on the Input Report. This problem did not affect calculations though, since the backup capacity of electric resistance is not used to calculate anything.

Version 7.02.10 [9/1/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in version 7.02.9 where if you selected a ground source heat pump on the Find HVAC Equipment window to copy to the System Data window, the data would not get copied.

Version 7.02.3 (Test Version) [8/9/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug where if you selected to import Recommended loads instead of Net loads on the Import From Rhvac dialog, the heating load was not the one that was adjusted to account for a possible elevation derating factor. Note that the adjusted heating load will only be available if the project was saved in Rhvac version 8.01.132 or higher.

  2. Modified the project file, weather database, and fuel rate library to Microsoft Database format, primarily to facilitate saving all accessory data in the project file itself. If you already have Audit version 7.01 installed, your existing files will be converted as needed and all your data will be preserved.

  3. Made several changes to the Accessory Database window. Multiple database files can be loaded at a time instead of all accessory data being in one file. There is a menu item to convert the old version 7.01 database file to the new format. Pictures are shown in the grid itself now rather than in a viewer on the right-hand side of the window. Pictures can be saved in the database itself now, in addition to other options of saving only the picture filename or a reference to another accessory's picture in order to avoid making the database file size too big. The same kinds of options are available for the picture for an accessory selected for a system in the current project as well.

  4. Added a New Project wizard dialog that opens when you click the New Project button or menu item. This new dialog gives you several options, including whether to import default data from another Audit project file, whether to import Rhvac or Chvac data, specifying the folder in which to save the new project, and assigning a filename to the new file.

  5. Added a new field in the Field Properties window of Proposal Maker that can show all the columns of data for an accessory selected for a system. The new field is called "All Data" and is located in the Accessories sub-category in the System category. There are properties that let you turn on or off any of the columns of data, as well as a property that gives you options for how the columns are sorted. The data in this field are separated by tabs, so you can adjust the document tab stops and put headers above the columns and show the data for your accessories in a table-like format.

  6. Added new brand-name specific sample project files and Proposal Maker template files for three manufacturers (Maytag, Rheem and York, for starters). These new files have documents that are custom tailored for the brand. You can select to install as many of these as you want during the program installation.

Version 7.01.167 [6/23/2005]

  1. Fixed a bug that developed recently where the items under the regular Edit menu (not the Proposal Maker one) did not work.

  2. Added a blue caption bar on the left side of the Proposal Maker menus that get inserted into the main menu which shows that those menus are for the Proposal Maker window.

  2. Added the several new items to the "Item to Include" checkbox list on the HVAC Equipment Block area of the Custom Report window.

  3. Added another tab to the System Data window called "Misc 2" and renamed the Miscellaneous tab to "Misc 1." The new tab has inputs for cooling and heating warranties and an input for typing in notes about the system. The warranty information is automatically copied whenever you select equipment with the Find HVAC Equipment window, if you check the new box on the Audit Options dialog called "Copy warranty information from database when selecting equipment.

  4. Added an option to the Audit Options dialog that makes it so the prices for the selected systems are automatically filled in whenever you check the system selection boxes on the System Comparison window.

  5. Changed some of the formatting of the first page of the custom report, where the Company part of the project information is now shown on the right side of the page, the cooling equipment and heating equipment lists are now in separate paragraphs with their own headers, and there are new paragraphs for showing the annual and cumulative operating costs.

  6. In several places in the reports, made it so the appliance and hot water text does not show up at all unless at least one system in the project has nonzero costs for them. An exception is in the System Comparison report, where if the boxes for Appliances or Hot Water in the Include list are checked the report will include them even if they are zero.

  7. Made it so when you create a new system the "Use Appliance Set" input defaults to zero rather than 1.

  8. Added a Line Spacing option on the General tab of the Select Reports dialog. This option lets you set the spacing between most lines of the reports.

Version 7.01.90 [7/28/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Investment tab of the Economics tab of the System Comparison window, where if you entered a number in the System Lifetime input that was greater than 25, the calculations would still just use 25.

  2. Included new versions of the components that are used to generate the print preview and create a PDF file from it.

  3. Modifed the Elite Software Update Manager program to include menus, an About box, and right click popup menus.

Version 7.01.89 [7/17/2004]

  1. Added an "Elite Software Update Manager" feature to automatically check to see if an update is available when the program is first opened. Also added a menu item under the Help menu called, "Check for Updates," which lets you open this new program, named EliteUpd.exe. This program lets you check the current status of your Elite Software programs to see whether or not any of them need to be updated.

  2. Made it so the manufacturer name saved in the Equipment Picture Database is more precisely the correct name under certain circumstances. It had been possible for it to be set to the base part of the filename from which the model was selected, which may or may not have been the same as the manufacturer name.

  3. Began saving the database filename in the project file when you select a heating or cooling unit with the Find HVAC Equipment window. This change will allow the Quote program to import that information. The filename is saved for both heating and cooling, for each system.

Version 7.01.88 [5/27/2004]

  1. Added a "Sound File" input to the Miscellaneous tab of the System Data window. If you fill in a filename for a sound file in this input, the Sound tab of the System Comparison window will let you play that file by clicking the Play button. The program opens your sound file in whatever program you have installed that opens files of that particular file's extention, and does not adjust the sound volume of your computer like it does when there is not a filename entered.

Version 7.01.87 [5/15/2004]

  1. On 5/17/2004, updated the setup to include the new files that are needed for the Print Preview to work in this version.

  3. Added a button to the Print Preview window's toolbar that lets you save the document as a PDF file.

  4. Added the ability to zoom, scroll and navigate the print preview with the mouse wheel. Rolling the mouse wheel scrolls the report up or down. If you use the mouse wheel to scroll to the top or bottom of the page and keep rolling, the preview will go to the previous or next page. Holding down the Shift key and rolling the mouse wheel navigates to the previous or next page. Holding down the Ctrl key while rolling the mouse wheel zooms in or out.

  5. Made it so the Credit section of the Economics Report is not included unless any of the inputs on the System Comparison window specific to the credit analysis are greater than zero. Did the same for the other three types of economic analysis.

  6. Added an option to the General tab of the Select Reports dialog that lets you choose to not show the project filename on the Project Summary report.

  7. Added an option to the General tab of the Select Reports dialog to generate an RTF file. You can check this new box or the one for creating an HTML file, but not both at the same time.

  8. Updated the Model View program so that the two speed air conditioner and furnace tables are added to any database you open that does not already have them.

  9. Updated the project file format so that it contains yearly operating cost figures for cooling, heating, appliances, and hot water. This change is made for when Elite Software's Quote program imports data from Audit. Also updated the Sample.aud project so that it includes the operating costs.

Version 7.01.83 [3/9/2004]

  1. Made it so the program will run properly on foreign versions of Windows that use the Double Byte Character Set, such as Korean, Chinese and Japanese versions.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Comparison Report where the Cooling Cost and Heating Cost numbers shown in one place on the report for an individual system did not factor in any Miscellaneous Savings that may have been entered for the system. Also fixed the same problem on the Project Bar Chart report and System Input Pie Chart report, where the cooling and heating cost numbers did not account for the Miscellaneous Savings.

  3. Added a button called "Copy Cumulative Operating Costs Table To Clipboard" to the toolbar of the System Comparison window. Clicking this button copies that table to the clipboard in a tab delimited format so you can then paste it into a spreadsheet program such as Excel.

  4. Fixed a problem where if Chvac was not installed on your computer and you clicked "File | Import From | Chvac" a dialog with the title "Select Data Source" would appear and you would have to close that dialog several times before you could get back to the Audit program.

Version 7.01.80 [2/21/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Background tab of the Audit Options dialog where the part of the monitor picture that represents the background would not be the right size and position when the Windows display DPI setting was set to a value larger than normal (or, under some versions of Windows other than XP, when the Large Fonts settings was used).

  2. On the Equipment Picture Database window, increased the speed of execution of the "Import From Manufacturer Database" toolbar button (this is a function used to update the database and is not normally used by users of the program).

Version 7.01.79 [2/9/2004]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in version 7.01.78 that made it so for some of the manufacturer databases, the Find HVAC Equipment window would not show the picture filename in the rightmost column even for models that are in the Equipment Picture Database. This bug would either happen or not depending on the name that was assigned to the manufacturer field in the header table of the equipment database. If the name matched the name of the manufacturer given in the Equipment Picture Database the picture filenames would display, but if not they wouldn't.

Version 7.01.78 [2/3/2004]

  1. Added a warning when the winter indoor dry bulb temperature is zero and the Degree Days method for heating is being used.

  2. Added separate entries for some models to the Equipment Picture Database where the same model number was supposed to have existed under different manufacturer names. For example, where Tappan and Westinghouse shared a model number, the model number was only listed under Westinghouse. Also made changes in several places in the code to make it so this kind of situation is handled correctly.

  3. Made it so the picture of the monitor on the Background tab of the Audit Options dialog displays properly when the Windows display theme is set to show 3-D objects in a color other than gray.

Version 7.01.73 [12/9/2003]

  1. Fixed a bug introduced in version 7.01.72 that made the Return on Investment value incorrect. This value is seen on the Investment tab of the Economics tab of the System Comparison window.

  1. Made it so the System Data window automatically recalculates when you change the Economizer option on the Miscellaneous tab.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Custom Report, where the capacities and efficiencies for a two stage AC and a two stage furnace were not being reported correctly.

  3. Fixed a bug on the Custom Report where the efficiency for an air source or two speed heat pump was being given in HSPF but the units type shown was COP.

Version 7.01.61 [5/2/2003]

  1. Fixed a problem where the "Water and Air Temperatures" data for ground source heat pumps from the "Calculate Adjusted Ground Source Heat Pump Ratings" dialog was not being copied from the Find HVAC Equipment window to the System Data window.

  2. Fixed a bug where if you used a two stage air conditioner with the cooling hours method, the efficiency entered for a normal AC was being used instead of the high or low speed efficiency.

  3. Fixed a bug where if you used a two stage furnace with the degree days method, the efficiency and capacity entered for a normal furnace was being used instead of the high or low speed capacity and efficiency.

  4. Added a warning for the case when the cooling hours method is being used with a two stage air conditioner to let you know that the program will only be using the high or low speed capacity or efficiency. Added a similar warning for the case when you are using the degree days method with a two stage furnace, to let you know that the program will only be using the high or low speed capacity and efficiency in determining the unit's energy usage.

  5. Made it so the oversize penalty is applied to two stage air conditioners only if the low speed capacity exceeds the load by the 20% amount. Also made it so the oversize penalty is applied to two stage furnaces only if the low speed capacity exceeds the load by the 20% amount.

  6. Fixed a bug where if you used the bin data method for a two stage furnace, it was possible for the program to bail out of the calculations and report a zero cost if the capacity or efficiency inputs for non-two stage units was set to zero.

  7. Modified the metric-English conversion procedures for fuel rates in order to more accurately preserve the original rate you entered if you happen to switch back and forth from one units setting to another.

  8. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the Rated Electrical Usage to be ignored for the ground source, direct exchange and two stage furnace heating system types.

  9. Made a slight correction to the calculation of a quantity called "Rated Design Heating Requirement," which is used in determining the electrical usage of fossil fuel heating units.

Version 7.01.56 [4/28/2003]

  1. Fixed a bug where the average propane cost per gallon shown at the bottom of the Monthly Costs report was incorrect. Fixed a similar bug at the bottom of the Monthly Disaggregation Costs report.

  2. Fixed a problem where 50 and 70 degree EWT data for ground source heat pumps was not being copied from the Find HVAC Equipment window to the System Data window.

  3. Added a units option on the General Project Data window, which lets you set the project to use either English or metric units.

  4. Corrected the "Annual Bin Cooling Hours" number shown on the Weather Database window for any cities where it had been incorrect. The program had actually been using the correct value when applicable, but the number displayed on screen at this location had been incorrect. The correction to the display will only happen on first time installations, or when updating if you select to overwrite the existing weather database.

Version 7.01.51 [4/15/2003]

  1. Fixed a bug that made it so when you created a new comparison case on the System Comparison window, the current case was being zeroed out.

  2. Fixed a bug where the model number was not being copied to the System Data window when selecting a two stage furnace from the Find HVAC Equipment window.

  3. Fixed a bug where the cooling efficiencies would be zero when importing ground source or direct exchange heat pump equipment from Rhvac or Chvac.

  4. Fixed a bug where the calculated cost could be too low when using the bin data method for a two stage furnace with an AFUE of less than 75.

  5. In order to make it easier to understand how to customize the toolbar, added a toolbar called "Extended Toolbar" and renamed the "Standard" toolbar to "Standard Toolbar." Also changed the "Customize" dialog's caption to "Customize Toolbar" and modified some of its labels.

  6. Made it values for Return On Investment (ROI) can go up to 1000% instead of only 100%. The ROI value is shown in the Investment tab under the Economics tab of the System Comparison window.

  7. Made it so the "Open Rhvac Program" function looks for version 8 of that program before it looks for version 6.

Version 7.01.48 [3/12/2003]

  1. Took measures to prevent a bug that would make the program lock up when using very large numbers on the Economics tab of the System Comparison window.

Version 7.01.47 [3/6/2003]

  1. On the Heating tab of the System Data window, made it so the efficiency input defaults to 100 percent efficiency when you first select Electric Resistance for your heating type.

  2. Changed the generic splash picture from saying "Residential and Light Commercial Energy Analysis" to "HVAC Energy Analysis and Cost comparison."

  3. Changed the "Air Handler Name" line on the Custom Report to "System Description."

  4. Fixed a bug where if you used Allocated electrical rates, the Appliance Report would show the wrong individual costs for lighting and other electric appliances. This bug did not affect the total cost calculated for appliances on the Appliance Report or elsewhere in the program.

  5. Fixed a bug on the Appliance Report where the usage shown for small electric and gas appliances did not account for quantities greater than 1.

  6. Fixed a bug on the Appliance Data window where if you selected a water heater type other than Electric, when you returned to the Hot Water tab from another tab it would change back to Electric.

Version 7.01.45 [2/15/2003]

  1. Made it so the names of the Desktop and Start menu shortcuts that the installation program creates include the version number of the program.

  2. Added the cooling list price and the heating list price to the data that can be shown on the custom report.

  3. Changed the first item in the "Items to Include" list for systems on the Custom Report window from "Air Handler Name" to "System Description."

Version 7.01.44 [12/27/2002]

  1. Added the ability to import Rhvac version 8 project files and to open that version of Rhvac.

Version 7.01.42 [12/3/2002]

  1. Fixed a report bug on the Input Data report where the heating cost included the cost of backup even though backup heat was also listed as a separate cost. The total cost of the system was not affected by this bug.

  2. On the Cooling Hours input on the General Project Data window, added a dropdown help list that lets you choose one of three options for the cooling hours value. These are: (a) the specified cooling hours entered on the Weather Data window, (b) the bin-calculated cooling hours derived from a 65 degree base temperature, and (c) the bin-calculated cooling hours derived from the value you entered in the A/C On Temperature on the General Project Data window. Also added a similar list to the recently added Cooling Hours input on the System Data window.

  3. Made it so the recently added cooling model types of "Air Cooled Screw Chiller" and "Air Cooled Reciprocating Unit Ventilator" use EER instead of kW/ton for the efficiency type.

Version 7.01.40 [11/21/2002]

  1. Added a Cooling Hours input to the Miscellaneous tab of the System Data window. This new input lets you override the cooling hours value on the General Project Data for any system.

  2. Added three new types of cooling model types: Air Cooled Screw Chiller, Water Cooled Chiller and Air Cooled Reciprocating Unit Ventilator. The efficiency rating for these new types is in kW/Ton rather than SEER or EER. Note that EER relates to kW/Ton by the formula: EER = 12 / (kW/Ton).

Version 7.01.38 [11/20/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug where capacities for equipment selected in Chvac would come through as being 1000 times the values they should be.

  2. Fixed a bug where if the cooling hours method was used and the number of cooling hours entered on the General Project Data window was different than the bin cooling hours, the cooling cost would be incorrect.

  3. Fixed a bug where the cooling hours and degree days shown on the Weather Database window would not update after you change the values in the bin data inputs.

Version 7.01.37 [11/1/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug where it was possible on the Bin Analysis report for heat pumps for two of the last three columns to have the text wrap if the numbers were large enough.

  2. Corrected the weather data for Miami, Florida.

  3. Fixed a bug where the name for electrical small appliances past number 14 would be incorrect (although the kWh usage and the quantity would be right) when converting an Audit version 6.07 project.

  4. Fixed a bug where it was possible for the installation program to install the sample project files into the program folder by default rather than in the Projects folder.

  5. Added a feature that prevents the program from opening a project from a floppy disk. If you try to open a project from a floppy disk, a message box will appear telling you that the program will instead copy the selected file from the floppy disk to the Projects folder on your hard disk and open it from there. Or if you try to save a project to the floppy disk, the program will display a message box telling you that it will only copy the file to the floppy but that the current project will remain at its present location.

Version 7.01.35 [8/23/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug where the value entered for the Balance was being ignored when using complex rates for electricity or natural gas.

Version 7.01.34 [8/15/2002]

  1. Fixed a small problem where after performing a merge with new data for the Equipment Picture Database, the database file was not being compacted. Also made it so the database is compacted after having imported models and picture filenames from an equipment database (mdb) file.

  2. Added models for Bryant and Armstrong to the Equipment Picture Database.

Version 7.01.33 [7/25/2002]

  1. Made it so you can change the Model Type input on the Query Equipment Picture Database dialog to be blank.

  2. Made it so the dropdown help window for the Manufacturer input on the Equipment Picture Database displays much faster. Did the same thing for showing the Query Equipment Picture Database dialog.

  3. Made it so the Show Picture window can stay open and let you still work with the Find HVAC Equipment window.

  4. Made it so the Show Picture window opens whenever you click on the picture filename column for a unit in the list on the Find HVAC Equipment window. Also made it so the picture is updated for the current model in the list.

  5. Added a message to the Query String box on the Equipment Picture Database window when the query string is blank that describes its purpose and how to change it.

  6. Made it so the Equipment Picture Database list is sorted by manufacturer by default for a first time installation.

  7. Rearranged the items on the Equipment Picture Database so that the list is at the top and the inputs are at the bottom, making it easier to understand that the text inputs are for the current model only.

  8. Added a Refresh button to the Equipment Picture Database window's toolbar. This button lets you regenerate the list if it has a display problem.

  9. Added a "Regenerate Manufacturer List" button to the Equipment Picture Database window's toolbar. This button will regenerate the list of manufacturers shown on the dropdown help for the Manufacturer input on this window and on the Query Equipment Picture Database dialog.

  10. Made it so the horizontal axis on the System Cost Comparison line graph always stops at the same place that the lines do: 30 years. On some computers, although the lines themselves would stop at 30 years, the axis would go up to 40.

  11. Corrected a problem where the "1st Year System Cost Comparison" graph could have one extra place for a bar on the right side of the graph.

  12. Added Carrier pictures to the Equipment Picture Database.

  13. Before today's update, added an epdsetup.exe file to our web site for updating only the Equipment Picture Database. That file will be available only when we have updated the list in the Equipment Picture Database but have not yet updated Audit. So the epdsetup.exe file will be made to work only when you have a particular version of Audit installed.

Version 7.01.27 [7/18/2002]

  1. Updated the help file with the recent program changes.

  2. Changed the copy of Quikcool.mdb included in the setup.

  3. Fixed a format problem on the Custom Report, where if the system capacity was over a certain amount, the number would be printed in exponential notation.

  4. Fixed a reporting problem on the Comparison Report where the wrong number was reported for a modulating boiler's efficiency at its minimum capacity.

Version 7.01.24 [7/16/2002] (Test Version)

  1. Added dropdown help to the Cooling Picture Filename and Heating Picture Filename inputs on the System Data window.

  2. Made it so a Yes/No message box appears when you select a picture file on the System Data window to confirm that you want to add the picture and model number to the Equipment Picture Database.

  3. Made it so the Merge Reminder window shows each time you open the program instead of just the first time after you install an Audit update, as long as the merge process still needs to be done. Added an option on the Options dialog to turn off the notification if you don't want to do the merge.

  4. Added a Picture column on the Find HVAC Equipment window that shows you the picture filename associated with each model. The filename can either be from the manufacturer database, if one was entered, or the one associated with the current model in Equipment Picture Database.

  5. Added a Show Picture button to the Find HVAC Equipment window that displays a new Show Equipment Picture window showing the picture for the selected model.

Version 7.01.23 [7/15/2002] (Test Version)

  1. Fixed a problem where if the "Start a new project upon opening program" option on the Audit Options dialog were checked, a new project would be started when the program is opened even if the way you opened the program was by double clicking on a project file. If you had updated from version 6.07, that problem would then make it so two dialogs would unnecessarily appear before you finally were in the project you double clicked.

  2. Added a new "Set Picture Filename For Multiple Models" button to the Equipment Picture Database window's toolbar. Note that this button is only available when you select more than one unit in the list (done by right clicking and Shift+right clicking). Clicking this button opens a new "Set Picture Filename For Multiple Units" dialog that lets you select a filename to set for all of the models you selected.

  3. Included Trane model numbers in the Equipment Picture Database.

  4. Added an index to the Equipment Picture Database to speed up the merge process.

Version 7.01.20 [7/1/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Heating Performance graph where the horizontal axis tick marks could be at uneven intervals such as 6.5. Now they are always at every 5 degrees.

  2. Fixed a bug on the Appliance report where it was possible for the report to extend to a second page unnecessarily.

  3. Made it so the capacity balance point for heat pumps reported on the Heating Performance graph is rounded off to the nearest degree if necessary.

  4. Made it so the years shown on the horizontal axis of the comparison line graph are shown at the bottom of the graph instead of the middle in the case where one of the lines happens to go negative.

  5. Added number formatting and "Btuh" to the 17 and 47 degree capacity values on the comparison report.

  6. Added an option on the General tab of the Select Reports dialog that lets you turn off the filename stamp footer at the bottom of the reports.

  7. Made it so if the filename stamp footer is being printed and is too long to fit, the name is shortened where folder names are replaced with "\...\". Also did the same thing for the recent files shown under the File menu.

Version 7.01.18 [6/27/2002]

  1. On the Weather Database window's City input, added a column that shows the number of bin months defined for that city.

  2. On the System Data window, corrected the dropdown help text for the System List Price Heating input.

  3. On the System Data window, corrected the dropdown help text for the Sound Level input to show that the value entered is in bels rather than decibels.

  4. Added a Sound tab to the System Comparison window. When a comparison case consists of one system vs. another, the two sound levels are illustrated with circles around both unit icons, as in version 6. But the relative radius of the circles is now proportional to the actual sound pressure of the units, so that one with an 80 dB sound level has twice the radius of one with 70 dB. Also added Play buttons that will play a unit sound at a volume that is proportional to the entered sound level. So the computer's sound volume for an 80 dB unit is set at twice the volume of one with a 70 dB rating.

  5. Modified the Sample project to include pictures for systems 2 and 3. Included two new pictures for these systems.

  6. Included more models in the Equipment Picture Database, this time from ECR Technologies, and also included a small picture file from them.

  7. Fixed a bug where if you selected a heat pump on the Find HVAC Equipment window while the Heating tab was selected on the System Data window, the picture associated with the model you selected would not show up in the Heat Pump Picture area.

Version 7.01.14 [6/20/2002]

  1. Made it so the printout of the Print Equipment Picture window keeps the printer and margin settings that you have entered on the Print Setup or Page Setup dialogs.

  2. Made it so the horizontal axis of the Heating Performance graph is extended to the left if necessary in order to include the intersection point of the load and capacity lines, which for heat pumps is the capacity balance point. The graph can potentially start as low as -35 degrees now, the temperature of the lowest bin for which Audit can have data.

Version 7.01.13 [6/19/2002]

  1. Fixed a bug on the Heat Pump Data dialog where clicking the kW and COP options had no effect. Now, clicking the kW option converts the entered COP efficiency to a kW value and makes it so the input will accept input in terms of kW.

  2. Added a Print Equipment Picture button to the Equipment Picture Database's toolbar. A print preview window is displayed before printing.

  3. Added an option to the General tab of the Select Reports dialog that says, "Print equipment pictures on Input Data report." This option will print the cooling and/or heating picture at the bottom of that report, filling up the available space.

  4. Made various changes to the Equipment Picture Database from the below test version.

  5. Added lines to the Annual Cost frame on the System Data window that show the costs for appliances and hot water. These quantities are now included in the Total line as well.

  6. Added a Find HVAC Equipment Multipliers dialog, which lets you set the minimum and maximum cooling and heating multipliers that determine the capacity ranges of the units shown on the Find HVAC Equipment window when opened from the System Data window. To open this new dialog, click the new Multipliers button on the Find HVAC Equipment window.

Version 7.01.8 [6/10/2002] (Test Version)

  1. Made it so if you add, delete, rename, or paste a system on the System Data window, if the Select Reports dialog is open it will update itself to show the updated list of systems. The same thing goes for adding, deleting, renaming or pasting a fuel rate set on the Fuel Rates window.

  2. Fixed a problem where the "Miscellaneous Electrical Use" label on the Cooking tab of the Appliance Data window was not wide enough and you could not see all of the text.

  3. Added arrow and Enter key navigation to the Hot Water Usage window.

  4. Added the label "Btuh" to the right of the Heating Load input on the System Data window.

  5. Corrected the labels for the backup unit's efficiency and capacity when the backup type is set to Electric Resistance. Those labels now say "kW" and "%."

  6. Changed the range for the winter outdoor dry bulb input on the General Project Data window from being -50 to 80 to being -80 to 60.

  7. Fixed a typo in the text of the dropdown help window for the minimum monthly charge inputs on the Fuel Rates window.

  8. Added the heating graph for heat pumps back to the Bin Analysis report. This graph had been in version 6.07 but was not yet in version 7.

  9. Added checkboxes to the top of the General, System and Comparison frames on the Select Reports dialog. These checkboxes allow you to select or unselect all of the report types in one of these categories. If all reports are selected, the box at the top will be checked with a black check. If some of the reports are selected, it will be checked with a gray check. If none are selected, the checkbox at the top will be unchecked.

  10. Made it so the heating graph for heat pumps uses the full heating load rather than applying the Loads Adjustment Factor entered on the General Project Data window. This change makes it so the design heating load occurs at the design outdoor temperature for the project.

  11. Also made it so the calculation of the capacity balance point temperature shown on the System Data window ("Cap. Bal") does not use the Loads Adjustment Factor. Also changed the text from "Cap. Temperature" to "Cap. Bal."

  12. Fixed a bug on the Appliance Data window where the Annual Fuel Usage labels on the Cooking and Laundry tabs did not immediately update when you changed the efficiency.

  13. Added dropdown help windows and input validation for the high and low capacity and efficiency inputs for the Two Stage A/C on the Cooling tab of the System Data window.

  14. Made changes to the help file: Added a definition for the Months to Pay Off item on the Credit tab of the System Comparison window. Corrected the text for equation 8.5. Added a topic for the Convert Old Weather Database File button on the Weather Database window.

  15. Corrected the text for the dropdown help window for the Rated Electrical Usage input on the Miscellaneous tab of the System Data window.

  16. Added number labels to the left of the list of 28 small appliances on the Appliance tab of the Appliance Data window.

  17. Added a link in the "Help | Elite Software on the Web" menu to the Audit update page on the web site.

  18. Made it so when you import data from Rhvac or Chvac into an untitled project, the Save Project As dialog automatically opens after the importing process, and the Filename input is already filled in with the same base filename as the Rhvac or Chvac project.

  19. Modified the Equipment Picture Database window. It now uses an actual database file called EquipPic.edb. Five fields are saved per model now, instead of just the model number and the picture. You can query the database and generate a list of only certain models. You can import models with picture filenames assigned from an Elite equipment manufacturer database file. New versions of EquipPic.edb, when we update this database as time goes on, can be automatically merged into your existing database.

  20. Changed the "Heating Load" column on the Bin Analysis Report to show the actual, rather than adjusted, heating load. Also added a column to show the adjusted heating load, which shows the same load values as before: the actual heating load multiplied by the adjustment factor.

  21. Fixed a bug in the calculation of the backup heating required in the bin in which the heat pump shuts off and the backup kicks in. This bin had not been including any backup load, but now it includes an amount of backup that is appropriate for the amount of time that the backup will run.

  22. Made it so the energy required for the backup heating system accounts for the part load efficiency of the unit when operating at less than the design heating load.

  23. Fixed a formatting problem on the Project Summary report, where the "Weather Reference City" label would wrap down to the next line.
