Dear Elite Software
Customer,
Elite Software is pleased to announce
the release of Rhvac8 which incorporates the new 8th edition of Manual J for
residential hvac load calculations. This update costs $149 for existing
customers and more details can be seen below.
Check Elite's
web site for major new releases on several
other programs as well. Light (Zonal cavity lighting
calculations) has been updated to Windows as well as Dpipe (Drainage pipe and vent
sizing)
Each of those updates
is $195. There are also several significant free updates
that you can download as well. Hsym (hot and chilled
water analysis) has a free update that expands its capacity to 3,000 pipe
sections. If you already own Drawing Board, all programs related to DB
(Chvac, Rhvac, and Ductsize) have been updated to show
realistic doubleline duct fittings.
RHVAC 8.0 New Feature
Summary
- New Construction Materials: Includes
greatly expanded material lists for roofs, walls, and windows. Also supports
Favorite, Recent and Custom Materials as well as a global material database.
- New glass and window properties: Direct
support for the new solar heat gain coefficients, insect screens, ground
reflectance and more.
- Hot water piping losses: If hot
water heating is used, you can enter the characteristics of the hot
water distribution pipe in order to calculate its sensible loss.
- Heat Recovery: Accounts for heat
recovery units and reduced fresh air loads
- New duct gain and loss
factors: Allows you to precisely specify the
characteristics of the duct system in order to more accurately
determine duct sensible gains and losses. Now includes latent gain
due to possible ductwork leaks as well.
- Winter humidification requirements:
Allows you to specify an indoor relative humidity in the winter in order to
calculate the required gallons per day of water to be added, as well as the
addition to the winter heating load due to the device.
- Graphical Psychrometric Chart
Report: High resolution color psych chart report displays each point
in the cooling process on an altitude-adjusted chart.
- New exhaust options: Fresh
air options provide more flexibility and accuracy.
- Blower Power Sensible Gain: When the
cooling equipment's rated capacity does not account for the heat gain due to
the blower motor and fan, this input allows you to directly enter the wattage
of the blower as a supply side load.
- Adequate Exposure Diversity Check: An
hour-by-hour calculation is done on the glass sensible gain to determine if
the system meets the criteria for Manual J's Adequate Exposure Diversity test.
The results of the test are shown on a dialog that lets you choose whether to
use the Peak or Average calculation method for the rooms and for the system.
There is also an Adequate Exposure Diversity report that displays a 13-hour
load line illustrating the variation in glass sensible gain over the course of
the day.
- Adequate Exposure Diversity Test Graphical
Report: Shows you the hourly glass load in order to let you see how
far the peak deviates from the average.
- Calculation Method Option: Automatically
determines the optimum method to use for compliance with Manual J's
recommendations for system and room level load calculation methods (Average or
Peak method).
More Updates and ASHRAE Show Jan
27-29
Lots of updates for other
programs have been posted on Elite's web site since the last email
announcement. For existing windows users of these programs, these updates
are all available as free downloads from Elite's web site www.elitesoft.com
We will be exhibiting in booth #
6232 at the annual ASHRAE Show at the McCormick Place in
Chicago on January 27-29. Please come and see all the new software
first hand. We look forward to visiting with you.
